Abstract

This study examines how altruism and teacher self-efficacy influence teacher commitment in private vocational high schools (SMKS) in Bina Widya District, Pekanbaru. Altruism and self-efficacy are critical because they respectively reflect teachers’ prosocial orientation and confidence to perform instructional tasks—both are expected to support sustained professional commitment. Using an ex-post facto quantitative design, data were collected by questionnaire from a cluster sample of 121 teachers drawn from four SMKS (population = 174). Instruments were pretested (N = 30) and analyzed with SPSS 25 using descriptive statistics and multiple regression (F, t, R²). Results show that altruism and self-efficacy jointly have a positive and significant effect on teacher commitment (F = 53.560, p < .001), explaining 47.6% of variance (R² = .476). Individually, altruism (β = .433, p < .001) and self-efficacy (β = .263, p = .004) also significantly predict commitment. The findings suggest that promoting prosocial values and strengthening teachers’ efficacy beliefs can enhance their professional commitment. Implications for school leaders and policymakers are discussed.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of principals' supervision and teachers' commitment either partially or jointly on the elementary school teachers' performance in Kecamatan Bangko, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir. The phenomenon in this district was that the teachers did not have the optimal ability to develop a syllabus and lesson plan (RPP), which led to an unattractive learning atmosphere. Besides, teachers' ability in classroom management was still lacking, so it was challenging for teachers to create a conducive atmosphere and a fun learning process in the classroom. The teacher could not maximally utilize the media; as a result, distributing messages (subject material) to students was not optimal. In addition, the teacher did not vary the learning methods, resulting in the students' boredom in the teaching and learning activities. This study was descriptive quantitative research. The data were collected through a questionnaire given to 112 teachers randomly selected as samples using the census sampling method. In this study, the respondents responded to the questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale. Then, the data were analyzed by multiple linear regression and data processing using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program. The study results revealed that the principals' supervision partially influenced teachers' performance. It implied that the principals' supervision became a vital variable to consider to improve teachers' performance. Likewise, the teachers' commitment partially affected their performance. This study used perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use as intervening variables that influence an individual's intention to adopt e-government or not, either directly or indirectly. The research employed a quantitative method with data analyzed using SmartPLS version 3. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to 80 employees of the Regional Inspectorate of South Sumatra Province using simple random sampling, and responses were measured on a Likert scale. The results indicated that digital literacy did not significantly affect the intention to adopt e-government. However, digital literacy influenced perceived usefulness, which in turn affected the intention to adopt e-government. Additionally, digital literacy affected perceived ease of use, and perceived ease of use influenced the intention to adopt e-government. Abstract

This study examined the association between self-regulation–based time management and innovative behavior among senior high school students in Medan City, Indonesia. A quantitative correlational design was applied to a sample of 250 Grade XI students from public and private schools selected using cluster random sampling. Self-report measures assessed self-regulation–based time management (goal setting, planning, self-monitoring, and adaptive adjustment) and innovative behavior in learning contexts (idea generation, idea promotion, and idea implementation). Both instruments demonstrated satisfactory internal consistency (Cronbach’s α = 0.88 and 0.86, respectively). Pearson correlation analysis indicated a moderate positive relationship between self-regulation–based time management and innovative behavior (r = 0.53, p < 0.01). Linear regression analysis further showed that time management significantly predicted innovative behavior, explaining 28% of the variance (R² = 0.28, p < 0.001). These findings indicate that higher levels of self-regulatory time management are associated with greater engagement in innovation-oriented learning behaviors. The results underscore the role of self-regulatory resources in facilitating students’ innovative actions within academic settings. Interventions aimed at strengthening planning, monitoring, and adaptive time management strategies may be effective in promoting innovative behavior among adolescents. Future research should employ longitudinal and multilevel designs to examine causal mechanisms and contextual influences.
