Abstract

Learning physics, especially rotational dynamics, is often difficult for many students because of the complexity of the concepts and abstract approach. In situations like this, conventional physics learning often encounters obstacles to providing in-depth understanding to students. Transformation in the world of education is becoming increasingly important, significantly increasing student motivation in studying physics so that it can improve students' performance. To address this issue, open-source blended learning materials that include problem-based learning (PBL) in the Rotational Dynamics curriculum must be developed. The goals of this study are to identify the phases involved in the creation of learning media; identify appropriate standards for learning media; and assess the usefulness of the learning media under development. The development model known as ADDIE is the process utilized for development. Four experts validated the blended learning media developed and underwent revisions to obtain suitable results. This research shows that: the learning materials created have been deemed legitimate and fit for use in the educational process, with a very high category; The application of the learning materials created is user-friendly and practical, also with a very high category.

Abstract

Learning to Support the Implementation of Concepts for Real-World Problem Solving can be achieved by applying outcome-oriented learning that produces products as problem-solving solutions. Design Thinking is a strategy that can be utilized to support the achievement of these goals. This research aims to specifically examine the stages and characteristics of design thinking as a learning strategy oriented towards enhancing creativity. This research is a literature review study conducted using the narrative review method. The source of information used is secondary data in the form of literature related to design thinking in international journals. The literature selected is deemed capable of addressing the research questions. The results of this study indicate that design thinking is a learning process that can foster creativity. Design thinking involves a divergent thinking process in the problem-finding stage (empathy and design) and ideation. Creativity in both problem-finding and ideation resides in the realm of creative thinking. Problem-finding refers to the process of discovering various ways to obtain information about users. Ideation refers to the process of generating various solutions to solve user problems. Various literature studies demonstrate the role of design thinking in generating creative ideas and products to solve problems.

Abstract

The use of Single Mode Fiber Bragg Grating (SMFBG) has been increasing in recent years due to its compact size, low cost, fast response and immunity to electromagnetic interference. It is commonly integrated into medical devices for long-distance light transmission and collection due to its high flexibility, low propagation loss, compatibility and tolerance to electromagnetic interference. SMFBG is a device made of thin glass material that is used as a medium for transmitting information in the form of light signals sourced from lasers or LEDs from one location to another. It consists of 3 main components, namely core with a certain grating, blanket (cladding) and jacket (coating). The advantage of optical fiber is that the data when transmitted is converted into light so as to reduce the risk of data damage. Other advantages include very small size, minimal interference with electromagnetic waves, resistance to temperature changes, attenuation when the transmission process is small enough, and large enough bandwidth. The orientation of this literature review is to understand the concept of optical fiber, the concept of reflection and refraction, and how light propagates in optical fiber.

Abstract

The research aims to describe students' thinking skills in the guided discovery learning model assisted by PhET media. The design used is a quasi- experimental: Posttest only control group design. The population in this study were all students of class XI SMA Negeri 2 Koto Kampar Hulu Academic Year 2021/2022 with a sample of 52 students consisting of class XI MIPA 1 as an experimental class totaling 28 students and class XI MIPA 2 as a control class. totaling 24 students. The data collection instrument was a test of critical thinking skills on stationary and running wave material consisting of 10 multiple choice questions. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis through the average value of students critical thinking skills and inferential analysis through the normality test, homogeneity test, and hypothesis testing with the help of the SPSS 25 program. The results showed that learning became more effective as seen from the average score - the average thinking skills of students in the experimental class were better than the control class and there were significant differences in students' critical thinking skills between the experimental class that applied the PhET media-assisted guided discovery learning model and the control class.

Abstract

Most food or drink products consumed by the public have coloring added with the aim of making the product more appetizing and attractive. This service collaborates with partners consisting of PKK women and housewives in Desa Lingsuh, Rajabasa, Bandar Lampung. Partners still have limited knowledge about dyes in food or beverage products. Both synthetic dyes and natural dyes used in food and beverage products are still not known in detail. Some of the partners have beverage sales businesses, in which case they do not use natural dyes as coloring agents in their beverage products. The Service Team provides solutions by providing knowledge transfer about natural dyes that can be used in their beverage products and the added value of using natural dyes, as well as how to make them and use them in the beverage products they sell. Making contemporary drinks using natural dyes can be done using simple methods and raw materials that are easy to obtain and cheap. This activity is expected to have an impact on the selling value of partner beverage products and also benefit consumers of partner products, especially in the use of natural dyes which are beneficial for health. The programs implemented in this service include education about the benefits of natural dyes in drinks, practice of making natural dyes from telang flowers and secang wood, as well as practicing making contemporary drinks. With this service program, partners gain new knowledge that is very useful during training and practice and can be used in the products they sell.

Abstract

This study examines how altruism and teacher self-efficacy influence teacher commitment in private vocational high schools (SMKS) in Bina Widya District, Pekanbaru. Altruism and self-efficacy are critical because they respectively reflect teachers’ prosocial orientation and confidence to perform instructional tasks—both are expected to support sustained professional commitment. Using an ex-post facto quantitative design, data were collected by questionnaire from a cluster sample of 121 teachers drawn from four SMKS (population = 174). Instruments were pretested (N = 30) and analyzed with SPSS 25 using descriptive statistics and multiple regression (F, t, R²). Results show that altruism and self-efficacy jointly have a positive and significant effect on teacher commitment (F = 53.560, p < .001), explaining 47.6% of variance (R² = .476). Individually, altruism (β = .433, p < .001) and self-efficacy (β = .263, p = .004) also significantly predict commitment. The findings suggest that promoting prosocial values and strengthening teachers’ efficacy beliefs can enhance their professional commitment. Implications for school leaders and policymakers are discussed.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of principals' supervision and teachers' commitment either partially or jointly on the elementary school teachers' performance in Kecamatan Bangko, Kabupaten Rokan Hilir. The phenomenon in this district was that the teachers did not have the optimal ability to develop a syllabus and lesson plan (RPP), which led to an unattractive learning atmosphere. Besides, teachers' ability in classroom management was still lacking, so it was challenging for teachers to create a conducive atmosphere and a fun learning process in the classroom. The teacher could not maximally utilize the media; as a result, distributing messages (subject material) to students was not optimal. In addition, the teacher did not vary the learning methods, resulting in the students' boredom in the teaching and learning activities. This study was descriptive quantitative research. The data were collected through a questionnaire given to 112 teachers randomly selected as samples using the census sampling method. In this study, the respondents responded to the questionnaire in the form of a Likert scale. Then, the data were analyzed by multiple linear regression and data processing using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) program. The study results revealed that the principals' supervision partially influenced teachers' performance. It implied that the principals' supervision became a vital variable to consider to improve teachers' performance. Likewise, the teachers' commitment partially affected their performance. The higher the teachers' commitment, the better the teachers' performance was. Overall, both the principals’ supervision and career development affected the performance of Elementary School teachers in Kecamatan Bangko, Kabupaten Rokan Hili
