Abstract

The management of zakat in Indonesia plays a significant role in promoting economic equity and the development of the Muslim community, yet its patterns and dynamics of challenges continue to evolve in line with changes in regulations, digital technology, and literacy levels within society. This study aims to analyze the patterns and dynamics of zakat management challenges in Indonesia from various perspectives, to identify critical constraints related to regulations, technology, literacy, and public trust, and to provide strategic recommendations for policymakers and zakat institutions. The research employs a literature review method with a descriptive analytical approach, utilizing various sources and documents related to the development of zakat management in Indonesia. The results reveal that the constraints in zakat management are closely linked to the suboptimal synchronization of regulations and governance, the inadequacy of digital infrastructure and data integration, the low level of zakat literacy, and the underdevelopment of a comprehensive public trust. The implications of these findings can serve as a foundation for policymakers and zakat institutions to formulate adaptive and holistic strategies that enable zakat to function more effectively and sustainably as an instrument for economic equity and the development of the Muslim community.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of stock trading from conceptual, operational, and normative perspectives based on Indonesian positive law and Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh). The research employs a qualitative-descriptive approach using library research methods by examining legal literature, DSN-MUI fatwas, and scholarly references related to stocks and capital markets. The analysis was conducted through document review and content analysis of applicable regulations and Islamic legal opinions. The findings indicate that, under Indonesian law, stocks are legal instruments protected by legislation and play a vital role in the capital market system. From an Islamic perspective, stock trading is permissible as long as it avoids elements of riba (usury), gharar (uncertainty), and maysir (gambling), and adheres to sharia principles. DSN-MUI fatwas serve as key references in determining the permissibility of sharia-compliant stocks and transaction mechanisms. Thus, stock trading can be conducted lawfully and ethically in accordance with national legal frameworks and Islamic principles.

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the historical entry and development of Islam in India, as well as its contributions to shaping the multicultural civilization of the subcontinent. Using a descriptive-qualitative method with a historical approach, the research traces the initial paths of Islamic dissemination, the roles of key figures and Muslim dynasties, and the interaction between Islam and local cultures. Islam first arrived in India through trade and peaceful missionary activities by Arab merchants, followed by the military expedition led by Muhammad bin Qasim in the 8th century. The peak of Islamic civilization in India occurred during the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire, which not only expanded Islamic rule but also laid strong foundations in governance, social structure, education, and culture. Islam became a major force in India's political and social transformation. However, British colonialism significantly impacted the Muslim community, leading to marginalization and identity conflicts that culminated in the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. This study concludes that the history of Islam in India reflects a complex process of interaction, acculturation, and social dynamics, offering valuable lessons on tolerance, cultural harmony, and civilizational resilience in pluralistic societies.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a comprehensive and applicable business plan for the growth of the Syar’i Essentials hijab manufacturing enterprise, as well as to design a financing model based on the murābaḥah contract that is relevant and suitable for micro-enterprises in the Muslim fashion industry. This applied qualitative research uses a case study approach focused on Syar’i Essentials, a startup operating in the modest fashion sector. The findings reveal that a business plan addressing production, marketing, management, and sharia-based financial systems is crucial to ensure the sustainability and integrity of the business. The murābaḥah-based financing model is designed to fulfill capital needs in a halal manner, using a transparent transaction scheme free from riba, gharar, and maysir. The implementation of this model offers a strategic, applicable financing solution that can be replicated in similar micro-scale businesses. This study is expected to provide practical contributions to the strengthening of the sharia-based entrepreneurial ecosystem and the development of Islamic microfinance models.

Abstract

This study aims to map the research landscape concerning the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in hadith studies. It seeks to identify key academic trends, including publication growth patterns, frequently explored topics, institutional and individual contributions, emerging research directions, and areas that remain underexplored. The analysis employs bibliometric methods based on data from the Scopus database, covering the period from 2013 to 2024. The findings reveal a significant increase in scholarly interest, with 103 publications identified, reflecting the growing recognition of AI's relevance in hadith scholarship. Among the most prolific contributors is Sayoud, H., while the most cited work—Hadith Data Mining and Classification: A Comparative Analysis by Saloot M.A. et al. (2021)—highlights the multidisciplinary importance of AI in the classification of hadith. Publication analysis shows that the Journal of Theoretical and Applied Information Technology, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, and Procedia Computer Science are the leading platforms for disseminating AI-related research in this domain. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia stands out as the most active institution in this field. Geographically, Malaysia leads the research output, contributing 30 publications. Topic mapping identifies key research themes such as hadith, authenticity, narrator, Qur'an, model, approach, technique, and classifier. Emerging topics—including authenticity, narrator, reliability, isnad (chain of transmission), saying, and deep learning—indicate a growing focus on hadith authentication and chain analysis using AI technologies. Conversely, areas such as complexity, challenge, meaning, phase, order, Muslim, and legislation appear to be underrepresented, suggesting potential opportunities for future exploration. This study highlights the growing integration of AI into hadith scholarship, urging institutions to adopt digital approaches, expand research collaboration, and explore underrepresented topics through broader datasets and mixed-method analyses to advance both theoretical and practical dimensions of Islamic studies.

Abstract

This study aims to map and analyze the development of research on productive waqf using bibliometric methods in reputable international publications. The research employs quantitative methods through bibliometric analysis on the Scopus database from 2004 to 2024. The results show a significant increase in publications on productive waqf in recent years. The most productive author/researcher in this area and the most frequently cited is A. Ascarya. In terms of publication media, the Journal of Islamic Accounting and Business Research has emerged as a popular platform. Topic mapping results reveal that the keyword "Indonesia" is a focal point in the study of productive waqf. Topics closely related to Indonesia, such as potential, productive waqf, cash waqf, empowerment, development, and company management, are important aspects in the management and empowerment of waqf in the country. Newer research areas, such as empirical evidence, financing models, cash waqf literacy, cash waqf, and Baitul Maal wat Tamwil, have likely been developing in recent years. In terms of density, topics like impact, empirical evidence, and financing models appear to be less explored and may present promising research areas for the future.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of media in enhancing waqf literacy in Indonesia by identifying the opportunities, challenges, and strategies that can be implemented through the integration of thematic interpretations of relevant Quranic verses. This research employs content analysis and thematic interpretation methods to examine the Quranic verses relevant to the research topic. Data are collected from various literature sources, focusing on verses related to charity and waqf, as well as studies concerning media that enhance public understanding of waqf. The results indicate that both mass and digital media play a significant role in improving waqf literacy through strategic information dissemination tailored to audience characteristics. The use of modern technology, collaboration with waqf institutions and religious communities, and real-time analytics present substantial opportunities to broaden public understanding of waqf. However, challenges include a lack of in-depth understanding of waqf among journalists, competition with sensational content on social media, and resource limitations. Effective strategies that can be implemented include the development of engaging educational content, strategic collaborations, multi-channel approaches, and training for journalists.
