Abstract

Corruption damages the development of society, so proactive steps are needed to foster integrity from an early age. This study investigates the effectiveness of reinforcing the values of honesty and modesty in elementary school children as anti-corruption role models. The research employed a mixed-methods approach across five schools. Data collection included pre- and post-intervention surveys, behavioral observations, and qualitative interviews with teachers, parents, and students. The findings reveal that curriculum integration, role modeling, and experiential learning significantly enhanced students’ ethical awareness and behaviors. Honesty was reinforced through storytelling and discussions, while simplicity was promoted via community service and creative activities. Quantitative analysis indicated a 25% improvement in honesty-related behaviors and an 18% increase in attitudes favoring simplicity. Parental involvement further amplified these outcomes, creating a cohesive framework for value reinforcement. This study provides a novel contribution by integrating simplicity as an anti-corruption value, addressing materialism as a root cause of unethical behavior. The framework’s success underscores the potential of early education in shaping ethical behaviors, offering valuable insights for policymakers, educators, and researchers. Future research could explore culturally adapted strategies and technological enhancements to optimize impact.

Abstract

This study aims to explore character transformation through the implementation of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) learning model at the elementary school level. The research was conducted in Cluster III, Pagerageung District, Tasikmalaya Regency. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed, involving 40 teachers as participants. The research data consisted of classroom observation results, in-depth interview transcripts with teachers, and lesson planning and evaluation documents related to the RADEC model. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed thematically through stages of data reduction, data display, and inductive conclusion drawing to identify patterns in the implementation of the RADEC model and its impact on students’ character development. The findings indicate that the RADEC model can be effectively applied in classrooms, although variations in implementation exist. This model has proven effective in enhancing student character, particularly in aspects of cooperation, discipline, responsibility, creativity, and self-confidence. However, its application faces challenges such as limited time and inadequate facilities. This study recommends further teacher training and the improvement of learning infrastructure to support the optimal implementation of the RADEC model.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of ethno-learning as a character education strategy through the integration of local Kacirebonan cultural values in government-based secondary schools in Cirebon City. Using a multi-site ethnographic approach, this study was conducted for one year in four schools that actively develop culture-based learning. The results of the study indicate that ethno-learning is implemented in two main forms, namely through the integration of local culture in intracurricular subjects and through extracurricular activities such as mask dance, gamelan, rebana, and the "Jelajah Budaya" program. One important finding is the role of teachers as cultural mediators who bridge traditional values with the formal education process. Teachers not only act as teachers, but also as value facilitators, art trainers, and cultural preservation agents in schools. The implementation of ethno-learning has been proven to strengthen students' positive dispositions towards local culture, form humanistic social attitudes, and foster reflective cultural identities. This study concludes that culture-based education should not be a complement, but rather the main foundation in the formation of students' character in a contextual and sustainable manner

Abstract

This study examines the development of Civic Education learning in Indonesia in recent years, focusing on analyzing trends in academic publications related to this topic. Through a literature study approach, data was collected from 200 relevant articles drawn from journals, proceedings, theses, and other documents obtained through observation and analysis of documents using the Publish or Perish and Scopus Premium applications. The study's findings show an increase in the number of publications by 2024, reflecting the growing interest in the importance of Civic Education in the context of democratization and diversity in Indonesia. Despite fluctuations, Indonesia shows rapid research growth, although it still lags behind countries with stronger academic traditions, such as the United States and China. Civic Education learning in Indonesia is shifting towards a more transformative and inclusive approach, emphasizing social and contextual relevance. This approach prepares the younger generation to participate actively in democratic life. Therefore, it is essential for Civic Education learning in Indonesia to continue to be adapted to local social and cultural needs to form critical, caring, and responsible citizens. This research contributes to understanding the development of Civic Education in Indonesia. It serves as a reference for developing a curriculum more adaptive to socio-cultural dynamics

Abstract

Civic education serves as a crucial foundation for students' character building, particularly in fostering their understanding of democratic principles. With the advancement of technology, digital literacy has become an essential element that significantly enhances student engagement in democracy. This study aimed to investigate the impact of digital literacy implementation in civic education across three schools in Bandung: SMA Negeri 11, SMA Negeri 22, and SMK Negeri 14. The research involved three civic education teachers, three IT staff, and nine students from these schools as participants. The methodology adopted was qualitative, utilizing data collection techniques such as observations, interviews, and documentation. The findings revealed that integrating digital literacy in civic education at SMA Negeri 11, SMA Negeri 22, and SMK Negeri 14 positively influenced students' participation in democratic activities. However, the results indicated that significant improvements were not achieved across all indicators, particularly in creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. The study suggests that while digital literacy has the potential to enhance civic education, further efforts are required to optimize its benefits comprehensively. Overall, the research highlights the need for innovative approaches to effectively integrate digital literacy in civic education to foster a more engaged and democratically active student body.
