Abstract

The Emancipated Learning Curriculum, introduced in 2019 under the leadership of the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, stands as the latest curriculum initiative in Indonesia, evolving from the 2013 curriculum. While some teachers express appreciation for the curriculum policy, others harbor objections based on various considerations. The changes in the curriculum are perceived as adjustments to various components that support learning. To delve into these dynamics, the research addresses the following questions: 1) What are the teachers’ perceptions of the concept of the emancipated learning curriculum?; 2) What are the teachers’ perceptions of the emancipated learning curriculum policy?; and 3) What are the teachers’ perceptions of the implementation of the emancipated learning curriculum? Employing a mixed methods approach, this research used the phenomenological method. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews simultaneously, and a concurrent triangulation strategy was employed for data analysis. This involved the simultaneous collection of quantitative and qualitative data, enabling the comparison of the two types of data for convergence, differences, and synthesis. The findings of the research show that teachers’ perceptions of the emancipated learning curriculum are generally positive. Specific details include: Teachers’ perceptions of the concept of the emancipated learning curriculum fall within the good category, accounting for 61.11%. The evaluation of teachers’ perceptions of the emancipated learning curriculum policy reveals a positive outlook, with 83.33% rating it as good. Additionally, 72.22% of teachers express a positive perception of the implementation of the emancipated learning curriculum.

Abstract

Food waste, also known as food loss/waste (FLW), is an important issue in Indonesia due to its huge impact on food security, the economy, and the environment. Almost half (41.7 percent) of waste in Indonesia comes from food waste, making the country the second largest contributor to food waste globally. Each individual contributes to an average of 300kg of food waste annually in Indonesia. This analysis aims to understand the economic and socio-demographic dimensions associated with FLW in Indonesia. The study analyzed panel data in Indonesia from 34 provinces over 4 years (2019-2022) using quadratic regression models and Ordinary Least Square (OLS) estimation methods. The analysis found that GRDP per capita, Consumer Price Index (CPI), population aged 15-64 years, and population aged over 65 years had a significant effect on FLW per capita in Indonesia over the period 2019-2022. In Indonesia, there is no significant influence between the variables of average monthly per capita expenditure on food, the proportion of male and female population, and average years of schooling on per capita food waste generation. The peak point shows that the maximum value of FLW per capita is around 40.85kg/capita/year at the level of GRDP per capita of IDR 89,296,130/capita/year. This research opens up opportunities for further studies on other factors contributing to FLW in Indonesia such as psychological, environmental, and cultural.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to analyze the cultural values depicted in the novel Asy-sya’ir by Mustafa Lutfi al-Manfaluti. The primary data source employed in this study was the Arabic edition of the novel, which was published in the year 1912. The study employed a descriptive-analytic research approach. The cultural values depicted in the piece of art were analyzed and categorized based on the cited theory using a systematic approach involving careful and repeated reading. The analysis of the data was conducted by applying Alessandro Duranti's theory of cultural values, resulting in the derivation of the findings. The findings indicate that the Asy-sya’ir novel, a literary rendition of the French classic Cyrano de Bergerac, depicts the author's poignant tale of love and incorporates a multitude of cultural values that are unique to the society in which it originated. The investigation has identified six discrete cultural values: cultural value as an intrinsic distinguishing element, cultural value as a reservoir of knowledge, cultural value as a medium of expression, cultural value as a utilitarian framework, cultural value as a form of intermediary, and cultural value associated with religious viewpoints on the divine.
