Abstract

Mathematical refractive thinking ability must be given in every lecture because it is needed in decision making. This study aims to produce a quality mathematical refractive thinking ability instrument, especially for calculus material. Instrument quality is measured in terms of validity and reliability. Content validity, construct validity and face validity were assessed by three material experts. The instrument was tested by 32 mathematics education students to measure empirical validity and reliability. This research resulted in three items of mathematical refractive thinking ability tests that are valid and have instrument reliability in the medium category.

Abstract

This research is a quasi-experimental research that aims to determine the relationship between metacognitive abilities and students' self-determination in mathematics subjects based on gender. The population in this study were all students in class VIII of Lhokseumawe City Islamic Middle School with a sample of 27 students. Data was obtained from the results of a self-determination ability questionnaire and a metacognitive questionnaire which was then carried out by Spearman correlation testing. The results of the correlation between metacognitive abilities and self-termination obtained a significance value which shows that there is a correlation between metacognitive abilities and students' self-determination in learning mathematics. For the correlation between metacognitive abilities and students' self-determination in learning mathematics in terms of gender using the Spearman correlation test for each gender, correlation values were obtained for males (r_1) and females (r_2). Based on the results of the difference test between the means of two independent groups, a z-count value was obtained which shows that there is no difference in correlation between the two groups.

Abstract

The concept of learning mathematics in schools has evolved to mean learning to participate in mathematical practices. In the 20th century, math education research developed, but each key issue and approach offers many questions. For the purpose of this inquiry, the Bibliometrics Analysis was carried out. When performing research on bibliographic material and carrying out citation analysis of each article published in scientific journals and other types of scientific literature, researchers could find it beneficial to use bibliometric analysis. This is a quantitative descriptive research. Researchers want to investigate the evolution of mathematics learning research outcomes in Indonesia, the distribution pattern of publications based on research affiliations, research themes, and scientific journals in Scopus. This study presents findings that are exploratory in nature from research on mathematics education in Indonesia. This study investigates the central body of scientific work in the subject of mathematics learning with the goal of providing information to educators, lecturers, and institutions of higher education about the current state of research trends in the field of mathematics learning. The data indicate that there has been less study conducted on mathematical education during the past two years. At the present time, the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia is the association with the most significant influence. When it comes to publications, the Journal of Physics: The Conference Series has more mathematics learning research articles than any other Scopus-indexed journal.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of distributional leadership of principals and teacher leadership on the quality of elementary school education in Batu Besar Village, Nongsa District, Batam City. The research method uses a quantitative approach with the nature of the research being associative. The number of samples was calculated using cluster random sampling technique as many as 76 respondents. The data collection method was carried out by distributing a questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale as a measuring tool. The data analysis method used is descriptive statistics, prerequisite analysis test and statistical analysis for hypothesis testing with SPSS IBM version.24.0. Based on the results of research conducted by the distribution leadership of the principal, the t value of -0.120 has no significant effect on the quality of school education. Teacher leadership with a t-count value of 8.978 and a t-table value of 1.9939 that there is a significant influence of teacher leadership on the quality of school education. The distribution leadership of school principals and teacher leadership together has a significant influence on the quality of school education in Batu Besar Village, Nongsa District, Batam City by 56% and the remaining 34% is influenced by other factors.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explain the outcomes of Indonesian students' mathematical representation ability according to learning styles. The learning styles are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. A systematic literature review (SLR) is the research methodology employed in this study. This study used data from 18 papers about mathematical representation ability according to learning styles. Publications published in Indonesia between 2015 and 2023 that are indexed by Google Scholar, SINTA, or Scopus form the publishing data. According to the publication year, the media in which it was published, the research methods employed, the subject's educational background, the research location, and the research findings, the description of this study was reviewed. The most research on mathematical representation ability according to learning styles was found to have been published in 2023, according to SLR. The most prominent research media that published the most research were SINTA and Google Scholar. Qualitative methods dominated this study, with junior high school students serving as the majority of research subjects and the island of Java serving as the most prominent research location in Indonesia. Furthermore, it could be stated that one of the elements influencing mathematical representation ability is learning styles.

Abstract

The study identified research trends in higher-order thinking skills in Mathematics Education in Indonesia, from Design to Data Analysis. The data came from content analysis of math education articles. As of April 2022, mathematics education articles in the Science and Technology Index (SINTA) are used solely. The Indonesian Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education founded SINTA (http://sinta2.ristekdikti.go.id) to evaluate science and technology. This research shows that qualitative methods, such as theme analysis or grounded theory, can provide insight into student learning, while quantitative methods, such as regression or multivariate analysis, provide statistical analysis of HOTS factors. Recommendations include improving teaching, research, and policymaking on choosing the correct analysis method and institutional support. Diversification and data analysis are essential to improve HOTS research and support Indonesian education development.

Abstract

This study aimed to explain the relationship between self-concept and mathematics procedural knowledge among undergraduate students of mathematics education. This study investigated the affective and cognitive aspect of students in the learning of mathematics. The method in this study surveyed with non-probability sampling technique. The subjects were 133 undergraduate students of mathematics education from public and private university in Palembang, Indonesia. 66 of them were undergraduate students in  public university.  The  rest  of them  were  undergraduate  students  in  a private university. The instruments that were used are questionnaire of self- concept and  essay test of mathematics procedural knowledge. The result from the Spearman Rank Correlation showed Sig. = 0.006 < 0.05. From that result, we conclude that there is a significant relationship between undergraduate students’ self-concept and their mathematics procedural knowledge.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship between statistical literacy and mathematical representation of students as pre-service elementary school teachers through the Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) model. The relationship between statistical literacy and mathematical representation was analyzed by using a product-moment correlation with a sample of 35 students of Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program at one of the state universities in Ambon City. The results showed that there was a positive and strong relationship between statistical literacy and mathematical representation with a correlation value of 0.66. This relationship means that if students have good mathematical representation abilities, statistical literacy abilities are also getting better. Exploration of statistical literacy and mathematical representation abilities can be facilitated by using The CPS learning model. The CPS learning model can facilitate student learning as a structure in mathematical thinking so that statistical literacy and mathematical representation abilities of students can be explored through the transformation of ideas among students. The CPS learning model aspects were implemented in high and very high categories while the indicators were at rating-2 and rating-3.
