Abstract

This study discusses the role of women's movements in addressing the practice of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), which is considered a violation of Human Rights. FGM is inflicted on women based on cultural demands, effectively stripping women of control over their own bodies. Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is recognized as a form of human rights abuse that reflects deep gender inequality and constitutes extreme discrimination against girls and women. The research is conducted qualitatively, with data collection carried out through journals, books, websites, and scientific reports. In this study, the author concludes that the women's movement in the fight against FGM is effectively implemented due to the commitment of the Desert Flower Foundation and its supporters, which stands as a powerful and exemplary example of hope, courage, and solidarity. The efforts to end FGM in Africa over the years have garnered attention as international, regional, and national actors have united in taking actions designed to address this harmful practice. As the struggle against FGM continues, the Desert Flower Foundation remains a key player in the global effort to enable women to live dignified and free lives.

Abstract

The management of personal finances among youth has become increasingly important due to changes in contemporary lifestyles. This study thoroughly examines the influences of a hedonism lifestyle, frugal living, and family financial education on personal financial management, with financial literacy serving as a moderating variable among Generation Z students at public universities in Malang City. Through the application of a quantitative methodology, data were amassed via the distribution of questionnaires to the collegiate populace. The data scrutiny was executed employing Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) via SmartPLS version 4 on a sample of 135 participants. The results indicate that a hedonism lifestyle exerts a negative yet statistically insignificant influence on personal financial management, whereas frugal living and family financial education demonstrate a significant positive impact. Financial literacy fails to function as an effective moderator in the relationships between hedonism lifestyle, frugal living, and family financial education concerning personal financial management. These findings highlight the imperative for the formulation of more comprehensive financial education programs aimed at empowering students to enhance their financial management proficiencies.

Abstract

The accumulation of organic waste in Indonesia is dominated by household waste, namely food waste and is also produced from household industries such as tempeh processing, namely soybean husk waste. One of the best solutions that can be done to minimize the accumulation of organic waste is to use Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae. The organic waste will be consumed by BSF larvae and converted into nutrients for larval growth and development. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of a combination of soybean husk waste and food waste on the growth and productivity of Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens) larvae. This study is an experimental study of Complete Random Design (RAL) using 5 treatments, and 4 replicates, namely P1 (100% soybean husk waste), P2 (50% soybean husk waste + 50% food waste waste), P3 (75% soybean husk waste + 25% food waste waste), P4 (25% soybean husk waste + 75% food waste waste), P5 (100% food waste waste). The main parameters discussed in this study are larval growth including weight and length and larval productivity in the form of protein levels. The supporting parameters discussed are the Survival Rate and Waste Reduction Index values. Data analysis uses normality test, homogeneity test, ANOVA, and Duncan test at a confidence interval of 95%. The results showed that the combination of soybean husk waste and food waste had a significant effect (P<0.05) on larval growth and productivity. The best combination treatment that contributed to the development (length and weight) of BSF larvae was in the P3 treatment with the highest yields of 1.38cm and 0.17g respectively. In addition, the Survival Rate, Waste Reduction Index, and larval protein levels were the highest in the P1 treatment at 100%, 4.82%, and 13.07%, respectively.

Abstract

Waru leaves (Hibiscus tiliaceus) are a plant that has bioactive potential with pharmacological benefits. This study aims to analyze the phytochemical content of waru leaves qualitatively, quantitatively, in silico, and their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli. Qualitative analysis focuses on identifying bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, etc. The quantitative approach includes measuring total phenol and flavonoid levels using UV-Vis Spectrophotometry. In silico studies were carried out using the KNApSAcK Family website to identify compound classes, NCBI to obtain SMILES, SWISS ADME to predict pharmacokinetics, and WAY2DRUG PASS Prediction to determine the probability of biological activity. Antibacterial testing uses the diffusion method to determine the MIC and MBC values. The results showed that waru leaves contain various bioactive compounds with total phenolic levels of 30.416 mg GAE/g extract and total flavonoids of -0.476 mg QE/g extract. In silico testing shows that Hibiscus tiliaceus has a unique bioactive compound, namely Hibiscoquinone A, which has potential as a drug candidate with antibacterial activity, lipid peroxidase inhibitor, and ubiquinol-cytochrome-c reductase inhibitor. Antibacterial testing of hibiscus leaf extract against E. coli using the diffusion method obtained MIC values at concentrations of 15% and 30%. However, at these concentrations it did not show MBC values. This research provides scientific evidence regarding the potential of waru leaves as a herbal medicine in treating infectious diseases caused by bacteria.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate how publicizing carbon emissions, implementing eco-friendly innovations, and gaining media coverage can impact the overall worth of a company. The study involved an examination of yearly reports, sustainability reports, and company websites belonging to energy sector businesses trading on the Indonesia Stock Exchange from 2019 to 2023. This research examined 16 energy sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange between 2019 and 2023, using a purposive sampling method. The study relied on secondary data, including annual reports, sustainability reports, and the official websites of the selected companies. This study utilizes several variables, including Carbon Emissions Disclosure (X1) as the first independent variable, Green Innovation (X2) as the second independent variable, and Media Exposure (X3) as the third independent variable. Meanwhile, Firm Value (Y) serves as the dependent variable. In this study, the research methodology involves utilizing panel data regression. EViews 12 Student Version Lite software is employed to analyze the research findings. It was determined that the Common Effect Model (CEM) performed the best among all the models evaluated. The findings of this study reveal that Carbon Emissions Disclosure, when considered individually, does not influence Firm Value. Green Innovation, on the other hand, has a partial effect on Firm Value, while Media Exposure shows no partial impact. However, when analyzed simultaneously, Carbon Emissions Disclosure, Green Innovation, and Media Exposure collectively influence Firm Value.

Abstract

People all across the world now have easier access to comparable goods because to globalization.  If we want to keep the economy stable via international commerce, we must take the exchange rate into account.  The purpose of this research is to determine how well the theories of International Fisher Effect, Purchasing Power Parity, and Interest Rate Parity explain the volatility of the Rupiah against the currency of ASEAN nations.  Finding out how the Rupiah has changed due to interest rate and inflation differentials between Indonesia and other ASEAN nations is the main goal of this research.  From 2014 to 2023, this research compares the Rupiah's currency rate, interest rates, and inflation rates to those of ASEAN nations.  The Random Effect model, run using the E-Views 12 program, is used in this study's panel data regression analysis.  Based on the study's findings, the International Fisher Effect idea makes sense here. However, the other two theories show the opposite results. Thus, this indicates a theoretical deviation that causes the theory to be invalid.

Abstract

This study investigates the management practices in Quranic education centers (TPQs), focusing on three key domains: education personnel management, facilities and infrastructure, and public relations. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis in selected TPQs. The findings reveal significant challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified educators, disparities in facilities due to varying levels of community support, and a lack of structured public relations strategies. However, centers with strong community engagement demonstrated better outcomes in all three domains. The study highlights the interconnectedness of these management areas, where improvements in one domain positively impact others. An integrated management framework is proposed to address these challenges, emphasizing the alignment of personnel management, infrastructure development, and public relations. This framework offers practical implications for policymakers and practitioners to enhance the quality and sustainability of TPQs. Future research is recommended to explore the applicability of this framework in diverse cultural and regional contexts.
