Abstract

This study examines the transformation of women’s education in Indonesia through the educational thought of Rahmah El-Yunusiyah, a pioneering reformer who established the Diniyah Putri in Padang Panjang. Her initiatives emerged from a socio-historical context in which women had limited access to formal education due to patriarchal norms and colonial structures. The purpose of this study is to analyze Rahmah’s holistic and integrative educational concept, which combines religious sciences, general knowledge, character formation, and practical life skills as a comprehensive system for empowering Muslim women. Using a qualitative approach with literature and historical methods, this research draws upon primary sources—such as archival records, biographical documents, and early curricula of Diniyah Putri—alongside secondary scholarly works. The findings reveal that Rahmah successfully shifted the paradigm of women’s education from a domestic-centered model to a progressive framework that positions women as active agents in social and religious life. Her pedagogical model emphasizes moral integrity, intellectual competence, and social responsibility, making Diniyah Putri a pioneering institution of Islamic women’s education in Southeast Asia. The study concludes that Rahmah’s ideas remain highly relevant for contemporary educational development, offering a strategic foundation for strengthening the role of Muslim women as empowered, independent, and contributive members of society.

Abstract

This study examines the simultaneous and partial influence of teacher competence and school management on teacher performance at State Elementary Schools in Ilir Barat 1 District, Palembang. Using a quantitative descriptive method, data was collected via questionnaires from 229 teachers sampled from a population of 534 across 29 schools. Analysis involved normality, linearity, and multicollinearity tests, followed by correlation, regression, t-tests, and F-tests. The results confirm that both teacher competence and school management have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, both partially and simultaneously. The novelty lies in quantifying their combined impact within this specific regional context. Practically, these findings underscore the need for integrated professional development and administrative training programs. The study’s contribution is empirical evidence for educational policymakers and school leaders to prioritize holistic strategies that enhance both individual teacher capabilities and overarching managerial systems to improve overall educational outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract

This article aims to analyze legal certainty regarding the imposition of Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Heavy Equipment Tax (PAB) in Southeast Sulawesi Province, particularly for companies operating in industrial zones. The main issue lies in the legal vacuum concerning the definition of “road” in Law No. 1 of 2022 on Fiscal Relations between Central and Regional Governments, which creates multiple interpretations of PKB objects. The research method applies a normative approach with grammatical interpretation of statutory regulations and a case study on smelter industry companies. The findings indicate that motor vehicles used on private industrial roads are not subject to PKB, while heavy equipment used as industrial production machinery is not subject to PAB. The conclusion emphasizes the necessity of harmonizing statutory regulations to prevent taxpayer losses and uphold the principle of legal certainty.

Abstract

This study examines the legal relationship between village government and land affairs, as well as the involvement of village officials in land mafia crimes. As the lowest administrative unit, villages hold the authority to issue land documents such as Land Ownership Certificates (SKT), which play a crucial role in the land registration process. However, this authority is often misused by corrupt officials who manipulate documents to serve the interests of land mafias. A case study conducted in Sidokerto Village reveals that illegally issued SKTs are used to legitimize unlawful land transactions. This research adopts a socio-legal (empirical) method with a case study approach. It considers law as both a normative system and a social reality. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with affected residents, village officials, notaries/PPAT, land office (BPN) personnel, and police officers, as well as field observation and legal document analysis. The data were analyzed qualitatively to interpret the gap between legal norms and their implementation, and to uncover patterns of land-related crimes involving village actors. The findings underscore the urgency of stricter oversight, digitalization of land administration at the village level, and policy reform to prevent abuse of authority. Abstract

Sea cucumbers (Holothuria leucospilota) have significant potential as sources of antibacterial compounds. These organisms live in association with bacteria that produce secondary metabolites exhibiting biological activities similar to those of their hosts, including antibacterial effects. Acne is an inflammatory condition that can be exacerbated by acne-causing bacteria such as Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes. Although antibiotics are commonly used for treatment, their effectiveness has increasingly been compromised by the emergence of antibiotic resistance. Bacteria associated with H. leucospilota therefore represent a promising alternative source of antibacterial agents due to their ability to produce bioactive secondary metabolites. This study aimed to characterize the macroscopic and microscopic diversity of these bacteria, evaluate their antibacterial activity against S. epidermidis and P. acnes, and analyze the chemical profiles of their ethyl acetate fractions. Bacterial isolation was conducted using Sea Water Complete Agar (SWCA), and antibacterial activity was assessed using the TLC bioautography method with iodonitrotetrazolium chloride (INT) as a growth indicator. A total of 12 bacterial isolates were obtained, comprising 10 isolates from the internal tissues and 2 isolates from the external surface of H. leucospilota. Antibacterial screening showed that 11 of the 12 isolates were active against S. epidermidis, while 8 isolates exhibited activity against P. acnes. Phytochemical screening indicated that phenolic and terpenoid compounds were the bioactive constituents responsible for the observed antibacterial activity.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) in the digital era faces serious challenges due to fundamental shifts in the characteristics and learning needs of students who are increasingly immersed in digital ecosystems. This study aims to analyze the characteristics and learning needs of PAI students in the digital era as a basis for developing Merdeka Curriculum-based learning designs. A qualitative approach was employed using library research method through content analysis of relevant scientific literature. The findings reveal that PAI students in the digital era are characterized as digital natives with visual and interactive learning preferences; they require contextual content, varied digital media, active-collaborative methods, and differentiated approaches. The learning environment is marked by opportunities such as expanded access and gamification, while simultaneously threatened by digital distraction and unverified religious content. Based on these findings, a responsive PAI learning design under the Merdeka Curriculum can be constructed upon five core principles: differentiated learning, pedagogical technology integration, Pancasila Student Profile reinforcement, Islamic project-based learning, and authentic digital assessment.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the Islamic educational values embedded in the ziarah kubur (grave visitation) tradition practiced by the community of Tanjung Menang Musi Village, Rantau Bayur District, Banyuasin Regency. This tradition is not merely a religious ritual but also serves as a medium of social and spiritual learning that contributes to the moral and character formation of the community. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The findings reveal four main dimensions of Islamic educational values within the ziarah kubur tradition: (1) the religious dimension, which cultivates faith in Allah and awareness of mortality; (2) the moral and ethical dimension, which fosters humility, sincerity, and respect for ancestors; (3) the socio-educational dimension, which strengthens brotherhood, cooperation, and social responsibility; and (4) the internalization dimension, which transforms these values into daily religious and communal practices. These results affirm that local Islamic traditions can serve as effective forms of non-formal Islamic education, consistent with Albert Bandura’s social learning theory and Thomas Lickona’s character education theory. Thus, the ziarah kubur tradition functions as a form of cultural da’wah that integrates spiritual, moral, and social aspects within the framework of Islamic education in the community.
