Abstract

Students from the Thematic Literacy Community Service Program (Kuliah Kerja Nyata/KKN) of Universitas Riau in 2025 conducted literacy program activities at UPT SDN 005 Binuang Village. Literacy is a person's ability to use potential and skills to process and understand information when engaging in reading and writing activities (Ekowati et al., 2019). Through literacy skills, a person not only gains knowledge but can also use their knowledge and experience as capital for the future. The program was implemented at UPT SDN 005 Binuang Village from Monday, July 14, 2025, to Saturday, July 17, 2025. The objective was to improve the literacy of students at UPT SDN 005 Binuang Village through the Literacy Program. The method used involved designing the entire program. Activities began with read-aloud sessions and "Read Me A Book" for grade 1 and 2 students. Meanwhile, grade 3 and 4 students reviewed book content that had been read to them and participated in interactive quizzes. Grade 5 students expressed their understanding of book content through drawing activities, while grade 6 students were assigned to rewrite stories by connecting them to their personal experiences, and the program concluded with a literacy competition. The coloring competition was intended for lower grade students (grades 1-3), while the "Ranking 1" competition was participated by upper grade students (grades 4-6), with materials covering general knowledge, religious education, and culture. The results obtained showed that the program could significantly increase students' reading interest across all grade levels, develop fundamental literacy skills and comprehension appropriate to students' developmental stages, and create a positive and enjoyable learning environment. This success demonstrates that investment in quality literacy programs not only provides direct benefits to students' academic abilities but also contributes to the development of character, creativity, and thinking skills that will benefit them.

Abstract

The University of Riau's 2025 Thematic Literacy Community Service Program (KUKERTA) in Laboy Jaya Village, Bangkinang District, Kampar Regency, is designed to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on quality education. This village has high human resource potential but faces limitations in literacy facilities and low reading interest among the community, especially children. Through a participatory approach, students implement core programs such as library data collection, management, and services, creative literacy activities, school visits, and village-level literacy appreciation initiatives. Supporting programs include creating a village profile video, math tutoring, UMKM Go Digital training, hydroponic farming, nutrition awareness and stunting prevention campaigns, and education on the risks of online lending. The results show an increase in children's participation in literacy activities, strengthened partnerships between libraries and schools, and the creation of public spaces for cultural expression and interaction. This intervention expands the meaning of literacy from mere reading and writing to functional and transformative literacy, covering aspects of education, health, economics, and law. The sustainability of the program requires support from the village government, schools, and local communities through the provision of resources, strengthening of library institutions, and the training of literacy volunteers. This program serves as a best practice example of community-based education ecosystem development in rural areas.

Abstract

Sustainable agricultural productivity improvement has become a major challenge in the modern era. This activity aims to develop liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) innovation from rice washing water through campus-community collaboration in Rumbio Village, Kampar District, Kampar Regency. The implementation methods include planning stage with coordination among student teams, lecturers, and village officials; socialization to farmer groups and housewives; preparation of tools and materials (rice washing water, brown sugar, EM4, and equipment); and direct demonstration of LOF production using fermentation techniques. The activity was attended by 40 participants consisting of farmer groups, housewives, and village officials. Evaluation results showed an increase in participants' understanding of organic waste utilization into LOF, with 80% of participants able to practice LOF production independently. LOF application on experimental plants showed enhanced vegetative growth compared to controls without LOF. This activity successfully improved community skills in producing environmentally friendly agricultural inputs and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers, thus supporting sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out at Gugus 3 Public Elementary School, Pasir Penyu District, Indragiri Hulu Regency, with the aim of empowering elementary school teachers in designing sustainable environmental education projects based on local potential. Teachers in this area still face limitations in learning resources, understanding of environmental issues, and teaching media that are contextual to students' lives. This program is designed to increase teachers' capacity in developing and implementing environmental education pocketbooks as relevant thematic learning media and supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The implementation of this community service activity is carried out through four main stages: planning, implementation, training, and evaluation. Each stage is interconnected and makes a significant contribution to program achievements. The training combines theory, discussion, and direct practice so that teachers are able to integrate environmental issues into learning. Evaluation results show that the program received a very positive response from participants with an average satisfaction score of 91.08%. Teachers reported an increase in understanding of sustainability principles, skills in designing teaching media, confidence in developing pocketbooks, and motivation to involve students in environmental projects. Although there are still challenges in the form of limited resources, this activity has proven effective in strengthening the role of teachers as agents of change in forming an environmentally aware generation and encouraging the realization of sustainable development in the region.

Abstract

Peneltian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis etnomatematika Melayu di sekolah dasar terutama pada materi bangun datar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan mengadopsi model pengembangan 4D (Define, Design, Development, Dissemination) yang dikemukakan oleh Thiagarajan pada tahun 1974. Penelitian dan pengembangan melibatkan ahli media, ahli materi dan ahli bahasa sebagai validator ahli terhadap media yang dikembangkan. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini berupa angket validitas dan praktikalitas. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menghitung rata rata persentase skor yang dapat dilihat dari aspek tampilan, aspek materi, aspek bahasa dan praktikalitas respon guru dan siswa. Hasil yang diperoleh dari uji validitas media pembbelajaran interaktif materi bangun datar mendapatkan kategori sangat valid dengan skor persentase 91,37%. Pengembangan media pembelajaran interaktif dikatakan sangat valid karena telah memenuhi kriteria penilaian yang dilihat dari aspek tampilan media, materi dan bahasa. Sedangkan hasil yang diperoleh dari uji praktikalitas respon guru dan siswa menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran interaktif materi bangun datar sangat praktis dengan skor persentase 96,52%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran interaktif praktis digunakan oleh guru dan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Dari hasil validitas dan praktikalitas dapat di simpulkan bahwa media pembelajaran interaktif berbasis articulate storyline etnomatematika Melayu pada materi bangun datar untuk siswa kelas IV sekolah dasar dinyatakan valid dan praktis. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat membantu pendidik dalam menggunakan media pembelajaran di sekolah dasar khususnya pembelajaran matematika dengan materi bangun datar, dan dapat menjadi referensi bagi peneliti lain dalam mengembangkan media pembelajaran interaktif di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan dan hasil belajar siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri 003 Mudik Ulo dalam pembelajaran IPA melalui penerapan permainan berbasis Wordwall. Sebelum metode ini diterapkan, terdapat berbagai permasalahan dalam proses pembelajaran, seperti kurangnya keterlibatan siswa dan rendahnya hasil belajar yang dicapai. Pada awal penelitian, hanya 27% siswa yang mencapai Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal (KKM) mata pelajaran IPA yang ditetapkan sebesar 75. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan dua siklus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan permainan berbasis Wordwall meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa secara signifikan. Pada siklus I, siswa yang mencapai KKM meningkat menjadi 67%. Peningkatan yang lebih signifikan terjadi pada siklus II, yaitu sebanyak 91% siswa mencapai nilai kelulusan. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa permainan berbasis Wordwall efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi IPA. Pembelajaran menjadi lebih interaktif dan menarik, sehingga mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menyarankan agar guru menerapkan metode pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif, termasuk penggunaan media berbasis permainan, untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran. Penggunaan permainan berbasis Wordwall tidak hanya membantu siswa memahami konsep lebih dalam, tetapi juga membangun motivasi belajar yang lebih kuat. Untuk penelitian lebih lanjut, disarankan untuk mengembangkan studi yang lebih luas dengan melibatkan sampel yang lebih bervariasi dan mengeksplorasi dampak jangka panjang dari penerapan metode berbasis permainan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh pembelajaran diferensiasi berbantuan media video animasi materi bangun datar berbasis budaya melayu terhadap hasil belajar siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Sampel penelitian ini adalah dua kelas dari kelas II. Kelas-kelas tersebut dibagi menjadi dua kelompok yang berbeda. Salah satu kelas tersebut adalah kelompok eksperimen dan yang lainnya adalah kelompok kontrol. Peneliti melakukan pembelajaran diferensiasi berbantuan media video animasi materi bangun datar berbasis budaya melayu untuk kelompok eksperimen sedangkan peneliti melakukan pembelajaran konvensional untuk kelompok kontrol. Pengetahuan siswa tentang materi bangun datar diukur dengan menggunakan soal tes. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hasil pengujian hipotesis dengan Perhitungan uji-t dilakukan dengan menggunakan IBM SPSS Statistik 20. Dengan rumus Analyze-Compare Means Independent T-test. Hasil uji-t dilihat pada kolom t-test for equaly of means jika sig (2-tailed) < 0,05 maka ha dan h0 ditolak. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pembelajaran diferensiasi berbantuan media video animasi materi bangun datar berbasis budaya melayu terhadap hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the interest in reading scientific articles of PGSD FKIP University of Riau students. This study aims to analyze the reading interest of students of the Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) FKIP University of Riau towards scientific articles. The background of this study is based on the results of interviews with three PGSD lecturers who showed differences in views regarding the level of students' reading interest. This study uses a descriptivemethod with a quantitative approach. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire distributed to PGSD students from 2021 to 2024. The results of this study indicate variations in the level of reading interest between classes. The 2021 class has a reading interest with a percentage of 70.2% which is considered high. The 2022 class recorded the highest reading interest with a percentage of 72% including the high category. The 2023 class recorded a percentage of 63% whichhad the lowest score compared to other classes, even so the percentage of the 2023 class is included in the high category. Meanwhile, the 2024 class showed a reading interest with a percentage of 69.1%. Thus, based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the interest in reading scientific articles of PGSD FKIP Universitas Riau students is included in the high category, but there are several things that needto be considered and improved.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning using an ethnomathematics approach on the mathematical understanding ability of fourth-grade elementary school students. This research is a quantitative experimental study employing a Quasi-Experimental Design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The subjects consisted of class IV.A as the experimental group and IV.B as the control group. A pretest was administered before the treatment, and a posttest was conducted after the treatment. Based on the hypothesis test using the Mann-Whitney U test, the obtained Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value was < 0.001 < 0.05, indicating that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This result is supported by the coefficient of determination test, which showed an R Square value of 0.6112 or 37%. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning using an ethnomathematics approach has an effect on the mathematical understanding ability of fourth-grade elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and describe the effect of using the Team Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model assisted by snakes and ladders media on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. The background of this study is motivated by the low mathematics learning outcomes of students, which are caused by the limited variation of teaching methods and the lack of media usage that could enhance student interest and active participation in the learning process. The research method employed is a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consists of two classes, namely class VA as the control group and class VB as the experimental group. Data were collected through learning outcome tests, consisting of pretests and posttests. The collected data were analyzed using the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the study indicate that the average posttest score for the experimental group is 81.25, while the control group obtained an average of 67.92. The statistical test yielded a significance value of 0.005, which is smaller than 0.05, suggesting that there is a significant difference between the mathematics learning outcomes of students taught using the TGT model assisted by snakes and ladders media and those taught using conventional methods. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the application of the TGT cooperative learning model assisted by snakes and ladders media has a significant positive effect on the mathematics learning outcomes of fifth-grade elementary school students. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers consider the use of this model and media to enhance students' learning outcomes in mathematics, particularly in learning that requires a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
