Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research on digital technologies in cultural heritage, focusing on key trends, innovations, and interdisciplinary collaborations. By analyzing co-occurrence networks, author collaborations, and publication density, the study reveals a growing emphasis on the integration of technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and 3D scanning in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. These digital tools are increasingly used to create immersive experiences and preserve both tangible and intangible heritage. The study also highlights the rising importance of addressing climate change's impact on heritage sites and explores ethical concerns related to data ownership, authenticity, and equitable access. Despite the many benefits of digital preservation, challenges such as the digital divide and the potential commodification of heritage remain significant obstacles. The analysis underscores the need for interdisciplinary collaborations and the development of sustainable, inclusive digital heritage initiatives to ensure that these technologies benefit all stakeholders. The study concludes by identifying key areas for future research, including the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technologies into cultural heritage management and the exploration of climate change's long-term impact on heritage preservation.

Abstract

The reform of Indonesia's criminal procedure law, as outlined in the Draft Criminal Procedure Code (RKUHAP), is set to take effect in January 2026 and has sparked mixed reactions among academics, legal practitioners, and civil society. This discussion was held as a moral calling and a form of academic protest against several articles in the RKUHAP that are perceived as granting excessive power to law enforcement authorities. The primary objective of this activity was to provide a more comprehensive understanding to students and student organizations from Universitas Negeri Makassar and Universitas Hasanuddin about the dynamics of criminal law reform in Indonesia, both from theoretical perspectives and practical experiences. The method employed was an open forum, consisting of two main sessions: one featuring conceptual insights delivered by academic lecturers, and the other analyzing real-life legal cases presented by representatives from the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) Makassar. The event took place in the courtyard of the BU Building at Universitas Negeri Makassar, with active participation from students across different faculties and organizations. The outcome showed that participants gained a deeper and more complete understanding of how complex the criminal procedure reform really is. They could see both the potential for stronger human rights protection on one hand, and the risks of backsliding on due process principles on the other. Overall, this event made a significant contribution to shaping critical legal awareness among students as agents of change and to encouraging more youth involvement in advocating for legal reform in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential and challenges of implementing tradeable permits in the management and utilization of water resources in Makassar City. The background of this study is driven by increasing pressure on water resources due to population growth, industrial expansion, and changes in land use. The command and control approach that has been applied through water extraction and utilization permits has not been able to promote efficiency and fairness in the distribution of water resources. Therefore, policy innovation based on environmental economic instruments is needed. The research method used a legal-empirical approach, with analysis of national and regional legislation related to water resource management, as well as in-depth interviews with the Makassar Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR), Makassar Water Company (PDAM), and industry players. The results of the study show that the implementation of tradeable permits has the potential to increase the efficiency of water allocation between sectors and encourage water resource conservation. However, challenges arise in terms of institutional aspects, monitoring mechanisms, and the readiness of quantitative data systems related to water utilization quotas. This study concludes that the implementation of tradeable permits for water resources in Makassar could be a progressive policy alternative, but it requires a clear operational legal basis, an integrated monitoring system, and cross-sector coordination between local government, PDAM, and business actors.

Abstract

Plantation crops remain a central choice for many farmers because of their promising yields, and clove is among the most valued due to its strong market demand. Despite this potential, clove cultivation frequently faces constraints, particularly sudden stem bud decline and disease susceptibility. These problems often arise from land that does not meet the crop’s ecological requirements, yet many farmers still find it difficult to obtain reliable and timely information on land suitability. Spatial data offers an effective solution because it provides rapid and up to date insights into environmental conditions without requiring farmers to visit each site. When combined with big data and smart farming technologies, spatial information becomes even more useful, since farmers can monitor climate patterns, soil temperature and soil texture more easily. This study aims to generate accurate information on land suitability for clove cultivation through spatial big data and to demonstrate the role of smart farming systems in detecting suitability levels. Using a quantitative approach, land conditions were classified into four suitability categories which include very suitable, suitable, marginal and not suitable. Landsat imagery from Sinjai Regency in 2024 identified approximately 24,566 pixels or 2,282 hectares of land used for clove cultivation. These areas were concentrated in South Sinjai, Central Sinjai, Sinjai Borong and West Sinjai. Additional land cover classes consisted of primary forest, rice fields, settlements, secondary forest, annual crops and mixed plantations. The classification results were supported by categorical accuracy testing, highlighting the need to evaluate each land use type individually to ensure the reliability of the spatial interpretation.
