Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by high levels of sugar (hyperglycemia) due to decreased insulin secretion by the pancreas, reduced insulin sensitivity, or both. One complication of DM is diabetic ulcer. Diabetic ulcers occur due to reduced vascular supply of blood vessels at the peripheral end resulting in the absence of oxygen so the tissue becomes necrotic. The importance of wound care is important to prevent the occurrence of fatal complications in the form of amputation in response to Wagner 5 criteria. Treatment of wounds in the form of herbal ingredients such as olive oil, honey and aloe vera has been done. Honey has several ingredients that are useful as antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, autolysis and wound healing. while the important enzymes contained in honey are diastase, invertase, glucose oxidase, peroxidase, and lipase. Antibacterial honey has a mixture of 48% sugar and 15-20% moisture content so that the content makes the bacteria unable to live. Honey can activate plasminogen into plasmin, this plasmin will become a fibrin thread which facilitates blood flow. The high glucose level of honey increases glucolysis which produces an energy source for macrophages.

Abstract

Every human being is born with a pair of kidneys located retroperitoneal in the body cavity. Kidney is an organ that filters blood and gets rid of the body’s metabolic waste. In addition, kidneys also play an important role in the excretion of drugs from the body, thus making it vulnerable to damage due to drugs and free radicals. in small amounts, free radicals can be converted into a non-toxic compound through the defence mechanism of endogenous antioxidants. However, when exposed to large amounts of free radicals, there will be an imbalance between the antioxidants produced and the antioxidants needed by the body. Overtime, the body will run out of antioxidants and free radicals will accumulate in the body. These free radicals wil form a covalent bond with the cell in the body especially in the proximal convoluted tubules of the kidneys and cause damage to the kidneys. This mechanism is called oxidative stress. Decreased kidney function can be assessed through blood urea and creatinine examination. Beetroot (Beta vulgaris L.) is a root plant that is generally used as vegetables. Beetroot is one of vegetables with the highest antioxidants content. Several studies have shown that beetroot extract has activity as a nephroprotector due to its abundant exogenous antioxidant contents. The antioxidant that are found in beetroots are flavonoids, betacyanins, betaxantins, ascorbic acidz, and carotenoids.

Abstract

At present, there is a shift in the use of cigarettes, from conventional cigarettes to e-cigarettes. Exposure to particulate e-cigarettes can cause damage to the airway, one of which is ciliary tracheal. Green tea (Camellia sinensis) has a source of antioxidants in the form of polyphenols which can reduce the number of organ damage through a mechanism as an anti-oxidant. The study used an experimental design using 30 Sprague Dawley strain white rats which were divided into 6 groups, namely 3 control groups and 3 treatment groups. In the control group, given regular treatment, exposure to electric cigarettes and exposure to conventional cigarettes. In the treatment group, mice were given peritoneal injection of green tea extract each of 50 mg/kg body weight, 100 mg/kg body weight, and 200 mg/kg body weight. After 14 days of treatment, the 15th day of mice was euthanized and preparations were taken. There was a change in histopathological damage in all samples where there were significant differences in the control group, but not significantly in the treatment group with a value of K1 to K2 with p = 0.005, and K1 to K3 with p = 0.007. Whereas in vape control group (K2) between treatment groups P1, P2, and P3 were p = 0.521.There is not difference between the administration of green tea extract to histological ch es in cilia’s tracheal structure of rats exposed to steam electronic cigarettes with p=0,521.

Abstract

E-cigarettes are easy to obtain and feel safer than conventional cigarettes, making smokers begin to change their habits in using conventional cigarettes. This trend has made e-cigarettes increasingly popular. Toxic contained in e-cigarettes causes an oxidative stress process that triggers an inflammatory response and causes respiratory problems. Green tea extract is believed to be an antioxidant to suppress the oxidative stress process. The study used a pure experimental design using 30 white rats of the Sprague Dawley strain. There was a change in histopathological damage in all samples where there was a significant difference in the control group, but not significant in the value of the vape control (K2) with treatment group 1 (50 mg/kgBW) p=0.163. E-cigarette consumption leads to an increase in circulating markers of oxidative stress. E-cigarette vapor induces an increase in cellular reactive oxygen species which in turn increases circulating inflammatory markers. Green tea polyphenols seek reactive oxygen species (ROS) by generating more stable phenolic radicals. The protective effect is attributed to the antioxidant capacity thereby reducing lung tissue damage. The conclusion is that there is an effect of giving green tea extract at a dose of 50 mg/kgBW but there is an effect of giving green tea extract at a dose of 100 mg/kgBW and 200 mg/kgBW on changes in the histopathological picture of the lungs of white rats (Ratus novergicus) Sprague dawley strain exposed to steam. electronic cigarette.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases associated with increased blood glucose. Chronic hyperglycemia in diabetes mellitus contributes to the emergence of various complications in the form of damage, dysfunction and failure of various organs, one of which is the kidney. Kidney is a vital organ that plays a very important role in maintaining the stability of the environment in the body. The kidneys regulate the balance of body fluids, electrolytes and acid base by filtering blood through the kidneys, selective reabsorption of water, and excreting excess as urine and removing metabolic waste (urea, creatinine and uric acid) and foreign chemicals. Diabetic nephropathy is a degenerative kidney vascular disorder, associated with disturbances of carbohydrate metabolism or sugar intolerance (diabetes mellitus). This study aims to see the relationship between diabetes mellitus and the incidence of chronic kidney failure. Several journals have found a positive relationship between diabetes mellitus and the incidence of chronic kidney failure.

Abstract

The clearing stage is an important step in preparing tissue histology to be examined under a light microscope, clearing is done to clean the tissue so that it is possible to insert it with an embedding material. Xylene is the material most widely used because of its excellent compatibility with fixing materials such as alcohol and paraffin. However, xylene is known to have various toxic effects on the exposed body. Many alternative materials have been found to replace xylene as a clearing agent in the process of making histopathological tissues. These ingredients are vegetable oils including coconut oil, peanut oil, olive oil, palm oil, and corn oil. These materials can be used as clearing agents without affecting the histological tissue composition, are more affordable, and do not cause health problems.

Abstract

Asthma is one of the health problems that the world is fighting against, according to WHO in 2019 the global prevalence of asthma sufferers reached 262 million people with high mortality, causing 455,000 deaths. Apart from the high mortality rate, asthma also has a high morbidity rate. One of the reasons for the high morbidity rate in asthma is the high recurrence rate of asthma, which affects the productivity of asthma sufferers. In 2020, the asthma recurrence rate in adults was 40.7% and in children the asthma recurrence rate was divided into two groups based on age, namely in the under 18 age group it was 42.7% and in the under 5 year age group it was 52. 9%. There are many factors that influence the rate of asthma recurrence, namely allergic and non-allergic factors. One non-allergic factor that can trigger an asthma recurrence is an infection in the sinuses or sinusitis. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between chronic rhinosinusitis and the rate of asthma recurrence in children. The method used was a review article by searching for articles using the keywords rhinosinusitis, asthma, asthma recurrence rate via Google Scholar and Pubmed, then the articles were reviewed and analyzed. The results of this review article are that there is a relationship between chronic rhinosinusitis and the rate of asthma recurrence in children, especially influencing the degree of asthma attacks in children.
