Abstract

The prolonged conflict in Sudan has severely affected the Islamic education system, leading to infrastructure damage, declining quality of learning, and the erosion of Islamic values within society. This article aims to examine the reconstruction strategies of Islamic education in post-conflict Sudan and explore efforts to strengthen Islamic values through formal and non-formal educational pathways. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive method using a literature review approach, analyzing academic documents, international reports, and Sudanese national education policies. The findings reveal that reconstruction efforts include curriculum revitalization emphasizing peace and justice, re-training of religious teachers, and collaboration among the government, civil society, and religious institutions. Islamic education also functions as a strategic tool for promoting social reconciliation and strengthening societal cohesion. These findings affirm that Islamic education plays a central role not only in religious instruction but also in rebuilding a post-conflict society that is peaceful, inclusive, and grounded in moral values.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to explore the transformation of education within the framework of the Muhammadiyah renewal movement and its relevance in addressing the challenges of 21st-century education. Despite advancements in educational technology, many students still face difficulties in utilizing digital tools effectively. As a modernist Islamic movement, Muhammadiyah has long contributed to the development of Indonesia’s education system through a progressive and responsive approach to contemporary issues. Guided by the principle of tajdid (renewal), Muhammadiyah continues to innovate in curriculum design, teaching methods, the integration of Islamic values, and the use of technology in learning. This qualitative case study was conducted at SMA Muhammadiyah 14 Central Jakarta, focusing on 36 tenth-grade students. The evaluation results indicated a significant improvement in students’ cognitive and digital skills. Approximately 82% of students demonstrated increased competence in using various digital learning applications such as Google Classroom and Canva. The findings highlight both challenges and opportunities in educational transformation and propose a comprehensive, collaborative, and sustainable strategy. This includes strengthening human resources, enhancing infrastructure, and developing relevant curricula aligned with Muhammadiyah’s renewal principles.

This article discusses the development of Islamic educational institutions in Brunei Darussalam in the social, political, and cultural context of the country. As a country that adheres to an Islamic monarchy system, Brunei Darussalam makes Islamic education an integral part of the national education system. This study aims to examine the dynamics of the growth of Islamic educational institutions, from basic education to higher education, and the government policies that support it. On the other hand, this article also highlights the various challenges faced, such as globalization, the development of information technology, and the need for competent teaching staff. Nevertheless, the prospects for Islamic education in Brunei remain bright along with the government's strong commitment to making this country a Zikir State based on Islamic values. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with an analysis of official documents, academic literature, and data policies. Abstract

This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the dual structure of Islamic education in Pakistan, encompassing formal education integrated into the national system through the Islamiyat curriculum and traditional education conducted in madrasas based on the classical Dars-e-Nizami syllabus. The research focuses on examining the relationship between government educational policies, the dynamics of traditional madrasas, and the challenges of integrating Islamic values with the demands of modernity. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed through an extensive literature review of official documents, scholarly articles, and publications from international organizations. The findings reveal that reforms such as the Single National Curriculum (SNC) and madrasa regulation represent significant policy initiatives; however, their implementation is hindered by ideological resistance, structural constraints, and the lack of participatory approaches. Islamic education in Pakistan remains in tension between religious conservatism and global imperatives, highlighting the need for inclusive, transformative policies built on multi-stakeholder collaboration. These findings have implications for the development of adaptive, moderate, and contextually relevant models of Islamic education in other Muslim-majority countries

Abstract

Humor holds significant potential in fostering humanistic and joyful learning, particularly in the context of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the madrasah ibtidaiyah level. This article aims to examine the role of humor as a pedagogical strategy in instilling Islamic values in children through an ethnopedagogical approach. The study employs a library research method by reviewing relevant literature on educational humor, Islamic education for children, and culturally grounded teaching strategies. The findings reveal that verbal, nonverbal, and culturally based humor can effectively enhance students’ understanding of moral, ethical, and ritual values in Islam. Humor also contributes to creating a positive classroom climate, improving student engagement, and bridging religious concepts with children's everyday experiences. From an ethnopedagogical perspective, humor reflects local wisdom that enriches Islamic educational practices and strengthens cultural affinity. However, the use of humor demands ethical sensitivity and strong communication skills from teachers. Therefore, training in culturally responsive and ethical humor use is recommended for Islamic education teachers. This study offers a conceptual contribution to developing a more contextual, affective, and culturally rooted approach to Islamic education in elementary settings.
