Abstract

Qanun is a series of choices that guide human life in acting and must be obeyed even though they feel pressure from experts. Currently, the challenged Qanun is considered a formalization of Islamic regulations, especially sharia regulations, which are considered restrictive and generally relevant by public authorities. The presence of Qanun in recent times is a consequence of the many regulations that have developed, especially due to the influence of European regulations in general. This research uses qualitative research methods with library research techniques. This research aims to analyze the history of taqnīn, procedures for forming qanuns, the coercive power of qanuns, and the position of qanuns in Islamic law. The research results show that currently qanun are seen as part of Islamic guidelines, especially sharia guidelines prepared by open experts that are both restrictive and generally relevant. The presentation of Qanun in this modern era, from one point of view, is seen as the progress of Islam in developing its Shari'a and implementing the guidelines contained therein. According to a limited view, the use of the term qanun in Islam can mean unclear guidelines or guidelines created by humans, where the resulting guidelines are the result of the ijtihad of a person or group of scientists on a problem. According to the general view, Qanun is a series of choices that guide human life in acting and must be obeyed regardless of pressure from public officials.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most prevalent non-communicable diseases and remains a major public health problem that increases the risk of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Dietary modification, especially increased intake of fruits and vegetables, is considered an effective non-pharmacological approach to control blood pressure. This study aims to examine the effect of giving a combination of watermelon and carrot juice on changes in blood pressure in hypertensive patients, using a pre-experimental design (one-group pretest-posttest design) with a purposive sampling technique involving 17 respondents. Data were analyzed using a dependent T-test. The results showed a significant decrease in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure after consuming the juice (p < 0.001). The average systolic pressure decreased from 149.00 mmHg to 133.00 mmHg, and the average diastolic pressure decreased from 93.65 mmHg to 87.47 mmHg. This study suggests that watermelon–carrot juice may serve as an affordable complementary option to support blood pressure control in hypertensive patients.

Abstract

This study seeks to examine customer opinions of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) business capital finance in West Aceh Regency. This study employs a qualitative methodology utilising in-depth interviews with seven informants purposefully recruited from diverse business sectors. The results indicate that most customers have a positive perception of BSI’s financing, particularly regarding procedural ease, contract transparency, flexible installment tenors, and positive impacts on business growth. However, varied experiences were found concerning post-disbursement services. The discussion connects these findings with the Theory of Planned Behavior and prior studies, emphasizing that positive perceptions are shaped through the integration of functional, procedural, and relational dimensions. This study concludes that BSI’s financing model represents a participatory and contextual application of Islamic finance and offers strategic implications for strengthening service models based on local values.

Abstract

The principles and rules of Islamic law are essentially established to realize human welfare, maintain justice, and uphold universal humanitarian values. Islamic law is not narrow-minded and rigid, but rather flexible, adaptive, and considers the social conditions of society. The principle of "la haraj" (not burdensome) demonstrates that Islamic law exists to provide convenience, not hardship, as emphasized in the maxim "al-masyaqqah tajlib al-taysir" (difficulty brings ease). The implementation of Islamic law is also carried out in stages (tadarruj), enabling society to adapt and fully internalize its values without causing social unrest. Thus, Islamic law emphasizes a balance between the text of sharia and the needs of human life, as well as between legal certainty and the common good. All of these principles lead to achieving the primary objectives of sharia (maqasid al-shari'ah), namely, safeguarding religion, life, intellect, lineage, and property, while upholding justice as the foundation of social life.

Abstract

In the Indonesian Islamic and society context, legal pluralism and interreligious interactions have potential. However, the ongoing and legally interfaith marriage continues to create a paradox. In accordance, the study examines the legal framework of interfaith marriage within the national legal framework, the pluralism in the law, and the judicial system, where legal enforcement is judged by maqāṣid al-sharīʿah principles. With a normative legal approach, this analysis is grounded in primary statutory paradigms, Islamic codifications, secondary administrative laws, and judicial practices and doctrines. Within this context, interfaith marriage has been indicated as an illegal marriage, not legally recognized within the religious framework. Although legal pluralism historically rose to various judicial practices, in Islamic divorce law, considerable differentiation has been eliminated. In creating and maintaining a unified linear hierarchy, subordinate norms must follow the Religious Norms. From the maqāṣid perspective, this unequivocally represents the protection of the Religion, the Preservation of the Order (Siyasah Shariyyah regarding the Ashabiyyah), the Posterity (Nasal), the Soul (Ruh), and the Property (Mal). The findings of this study indicate that Indonesia's regulation of interfaith marriages illustrates the purposeful incorporation of the Islamic law goals into the state’s family law and the strengthening of legal and social order within a pluralistic context.

Abstract

This study was based on the existence of wive's divorce after knowing their husband have same-sex sexual orientation. Husband's behavior as homosexual had triggered conflict in their marriage. This normative legal study was carried out by analysing of the decision of Padang Religious Court Number 0783/Pdt.G/2017/PA.Pdg and Number 0266/Pdt.G/2018/PA.Pdg as well as other secondary legal materials such as laws and regulations, Jurisprudence and other related books. The results showed that the husband's homosexual behavior was unknown to the wife since before marriage but they found it after a long time living the marriage life. Wives found their husbands having sexual relations or the husband himself confessed his actions. Based on the legislation, the wife as a disadvantaged person might file for divorce on the grounds that the husband behaves homosexually even though the regulation could only justify by mentioning a constant dispute. In addition, it was impossible for a marriage to be built and be able to achieve its goals when the husband was not only homosexual but also bisexual. Homosexuality itself in Islamic law was part of a heinous act which was severely punished by the culprit.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that requires long-term management through lifestyle modification and adherence to therapy. Health education is an essential intervention to improve patients’ self-efficacy and self-care in supporting lifelong treatment. Good self-efficacy enhances patients’ confidence in managing their condition, while optimal self-care contributes to improved quality of life. This study aimed to determine the effect of education on self-efficacy and self-care among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the working area of Batujaya Primary Health Center, Karawang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The sampling technique used was proportional purposive sampling, involving 32 respondents. The instruments used were the Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (DMSES) and the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA) questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the paired t-test. The results showed an improvement in self-efficacy and self-care after the educational intervention. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 for self-efficacy and 0.000 for self-care (p 0.05), indicating a significant effect of education on self-efficacy and self-care among patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It is recommended that primary health centers optimize continuous health education, counseling, and health promotion programs to enhance patients’ ability to manage their condition and improve their quality of life
