Abstract

Subjective career success is an attitude regarding an individual’s achievement and satisfaction with their career resulting from a personal evaluation of their career experience. Subjective career success has eight dimensions: recognition, quality work, meaningful work, influence, authenticity, personal life, growth and development, and satisfaction. Subjective Career Success Inventory – SCSI (Subjective Career Success Questionnaire) has 24 items. The use of instruments at different cultural backgrounds requires an adaptation process so that the measurement results are valid and reliable, but until now, there has been no research on the adaptation of subjective career success measurement tools in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to obtain a standardized subjective career success measurement tool. The adaptation process was carried out using the International Test Commission reference in2016. Based on the results of the CFA analysis of the LISREL 8.8 program, it can be concluded that according to theory, subjective career success models have a good fit model. This means that the zero hypotheses that state the subjective career success model of the goodness of fit are acceptable. This explains that the resulting model can describe actual conditions and can be used to measure subjective career success.

Abstract

Tantrum is a behavioral disorder experienced by 12-48 - month - child in form of emotional outbursts, for example: destructive behavior or verbally (crying, screaming, whining) over and over again. The reason behind that action is the difficulty of children to understand their feeling and emotion moreover, they have unstable emotions due to discomfort feelings or difficult to deliver what they feel and what they want to their parents or others. This study focused on how mothers manage children's emotions with Tantrum aged 12 - 48 months. Because this research focus on parents with tantrum children, researcher used purposive sampling to specify the subject and collect the data using in-depth interviews. Furthermore, the data was analyzed by Miles and Huberman Model. The result showed that four out of five subjects explicitly reveals that communication and emotional identification were more effective to decrease tantrum behavior gradually. Whereas, one of them use diversion to distract attention. However, it was an ineffective way because, children cannot understand the emotion they feel and how to deliver it in a good way. The result was children will manipulate the surrounding with the same emotion. In this study, the emotion was shown verbally, such as crying loudly and screaming.

Abstract

The growth of the hotel business is increasing, along with the development of tourism. This condition encourages hoteliers to compete to advance their business with a variety of service innovation processes. Therefore, it is essential to know and identify the innovative behavior of hospitality employees. This study aims to develop innovative employee behavior measurement tools. We used a quantitative study involving 143 sales marketing employees in hospitality as respondents. The sample selection uses a random sampling technique. The development of innovative behavioral questionnaires was revealed through three dimensions, namely the idea generation dimension, idea championing, and idea implementation. Data analysis used confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with the help of Amos 22 software. The results of the study revealed that the innovative behavior measurement model met the goodness of fit criteria. These findings indicate that innovative behavior can be measured by the dimensions of idea generation, idea championing, and idea implementation. The results of this study also have implications for several hospitality practitioners to evaluate the innovative behavior of hospitality employees. Keywords: innovative behavior, scale adaptation, validity, Confirmatory Factor Analysis

Abstract

The development and growth of the hotel business in Indonesia are increasingly rapid, along with the development of the tourism industry. One of the competencies that are needed in facing business competition is innovative competency. Although there have been many studies discussing the importance of mastering innovative competencies, there are still limited instruments for measuring the innovative competencies of hospitality employees. The purpose of this study is to develop an innovative competency measurement instrument for hospitality employees. The development of an innovation competency instrument for hotel marketing employees consists of three indicators, namely individual, interpersonal, and social network conditions. Data collection involved 143 hospitality marketing employees. Data analysis to test the validity of this innovative competency questionnaire uses the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA). The study results revealed that the questionnaire was valid with the following criteria: RMSEA 0.094 (moderate), RMR = 0.037 (fit), Comparative Fit Index (CFI) = 0.901 (fit), Tucker-Lewis Index (TLI) = 0.891 (moderate), and NFI = 0.837 (moderate). These results indicate that an indication of a good fit or an innovative competency construct model in this study is declared fit so that it can be used to identify the innovative competencies of Sales Marketing employees in hospitality. Keywords: innovative; interpersonal; social network; instrument validity.

Abstract

Abstract This research aimed to conduct the adaptation and validation of the Well-Being at Work Scale (WBWS) in order to ready it for implementation as the instrument to measure career well-being on working mothers as respondents in Indonesia. The career well-being approach was based on the concept of general well-being which included affective and cognitive components. The respondents were mothers working full-time in the formal sector and had fulfilled the requirement of several pre-determined criteria. The collected research data was analyzed with the confirmatory factor analysis in order to obtain instrument reliability and validity. Based on the analysis, results were obtained that the WBWS model adaptated had fulfilled the goodness-of-fit criteria, meaning that there was compatibility between the developed model and the empirical data. Furthermore, this research was hoped to provide contribution in the measurement and development of research of career well-being on working mothers.
