Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between scholastic ability in chemistry and creativity in stoichiometry learning among first-year students. Chemistry scholastic ability is naturally integrated among first-year students who demonstrate their reasoning skills in the field of chemistry, which may influence students' creativity in their chemistry learning. This quantitative research used a correlational design to examine two variables without providing an intervention. The research results showed a significant correlation between scholastic ability in chemistry and creativity, but were inconsistent across the two creativity measures (verbal assessment of creativity [VAC] and figural assessment of creativity [FAC]). Chemistry scholastic ability had a significant correlation with VAC. The first-year students identified had moderate-level reasoning ability, as evidenced by their difficulties transforming stoichiometry knowledge at the microscopic-symbolic level. Students' reasoning abilities encouraged the emergence of an original idea for molecular modeling using environmentally friendly materials (VAC). Even though they did not achieve high-level reasoning ability, they succeeded in creating a mind map (FAC) on stoichiometry by supporting digital literacy. Reasoning ability can foster creativity as one of the 21st-century skills, enabling students to directly contribute to preserving the environment by using molecular modeling materials. They also solve daily-life problems more easily by applying stoichiometry knowledge visualized in a mind map.

Abstract

This study developed an interactive electronic student worksheet (e-LKPD) to improve learning outcomes on atomic structure using the Lee & Owen R&D model. The product was tested with 23 tenth-grade students at SMAN 1 Sambit and evaluated for validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Expert validation from two chemistry lecturers and one teacher confirmed strong content and construct validity, with modal scores of 3. In terms of practicality, 94.10% of students responded positively, and 91.11% of observed activities were relevant. Effectiveness was demonstrated through learning gains: 16 students achieved high n-gain scores (≥0.7) and 7 students achieved moderate gains (0.3–0.7). These findings indicate that the interactive e-LKPD is not only valid and practical but also highly applicable in classroom settings. Its digital, interactive format supports active learning and helps students grasp abstract scientific concepts more easily. The results underscore the potential of e-LKPD as an innovative tool in science education, particularly in facilitating student engagement and conceptual understanding. This Research contributes to the development of technology-based learning resources aligned with 21st-century educational needs.

Abstract

Poor sleep quality is a common problem in patients with diabetes mellitus which can negatively impact metabolic control and reduce the patient's quality of life. Therefore, this study is important to find alternative non-pharmacological therapies to improve the sleep quality of diabetic patients. The main purpose of this study is to determine the effect of healing touch-dhikr therapy on the sleep quality of patients with diabetes mellitus in the Kaliwungu Health Center Working Area. This study uses a quantitative method, namely quasi experimental with a pretest-posttest with control group design. The sample consisted of 78 respondents who were selected through purposive sampling and divided into two groups: the intervention group (n = 39) and the control group (n = 39). The healing touch-dhikr intervention was given for seven days with a duration of 15–30 minutes per session. The data collection instrument used the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was carried out by dependent t-test and independent t-test test. The results showed a significant decrease in PSQI scores in both groups (p<0.001). The average sleep quality score of the intervention group decreased from 11.92 to 6.00 (difference of 5.92), while in the control group it decreased from 12.10 to 10.05 (difference of 2.05). Although both showed significant changes, the larger decline in the intervention group showed that healing touch–dhikr therapy was more clinically and statistically effective in improving the sleep quality of patients with diabetes mellitus. This is supported by an independent t-test showing a significant difference between the two groups (p< 0.001), which indicates the effectiveness of the intervention. Thus, it can be concluded that healing touch-dhikr therapy has a significant and clinically effective effect in improving the quality of sleep in patients with diabetes mellitus. This research supports the application of spiritual-based non-pharmacological interventions in nursing practice as a holistic approach that pays attention to the physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects of patients.
