Abstract

Learning media is one of the most components in the teaching and learning process. This research was conducted to design and develop the electronic modules combining science process skills and dynamics motion content for increasing critical thinking skills and improve student learning motivation for senior high school. The Methods used in this research is Research and Development (R&D). Model research and development using a research 4D Thiagarajan model. Physics module was developed using science process skills approach: observing, formulating the problem, formulating a hypothesis, identify variables, conduct experiments, analyse the data, summarise and communicate. The results showed that: 1) the electronics module has been developed by integrating the science process skills for enhancing critical thinking skills and student motivation. 2) Electronic Module Physics-based science process skills meet the criteria very well, judging from the results of validation content, validation media, validation of peer education and practitioners, with an average value of 3.80 is greater than the minimum eligibility 3.78. 3) effectiveness the modules of science process skills got N-gain value obtained from a large trial in grade samples of 0.67 and 0.59 in the control group were categorised as moderate. 4) Implementation of electronic modules Physics-based science process skills is considered an effective to enhance the students' motivation. Statistical analysis showed a significance value of 0.027 is lower than the significance level α = 0.05, this means that there are significant differences between learning motivation grade sample and the control class. As a result of analysis data obtained from the research, it was seen that the students' motivation that uses Physics module based science process skills better than conventional learning.

Abstract

This paper introduced these Physics Educational Technology (PhET) Simulation and demonstrated their utility for Senior High School Students. The PhET simulations are very involved, interactive animated environments that create a unique opportunity for students. In each case, we demonstrate that discussion simulations are more productive, for developing student conceptual understanding  for photo electric effect than traditional discussion without simulations. During the discussion with PhET simulation, students can construct their  understanding about concepts photo electric effect within this framework. Students learn by building on their prior understanding through a series of constrained and supportives exploration. The simulations support an interactive approach and constrain students productively.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the science learning skills among students’ who follow contextual learning through project method with experiment method. The population of this research is the students’ of class VII MTS Negeri Miri Kab. Sragen on the teaching period of 2016/2017. Cluster random sampling technique is used as sample. This research was designed using contextual teaching through project method as an independent variable. The results of this Improvement show that there is a difference in the achievement of students' learning skill that follows contextual learning through the project method with the experimental method with Fobs = 8,83 and significant number 4,04 (p <0,05). Based on these findings contextual learning through the project is one of the learning methods that provide a positive influence on improving the achievement of science learning skills. This ain increase, because CTL is can help students’ understand the material by relating the problems that exist. Project methods are used by students’ in solving problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze of students' difficulties on the material elasticity and harmonic oscillation in the inquiry-based physics learning. It has eight stages. They are the orientation, the problem formulation, the formulation of hypotheses, the data obtaining, the testing hypotheses, conclusions, the implementation of the conclusions and generalizations, and the reflection stage. This research determines the student's learning difficulties on the each stage. The subject of this research is all of the students in X IPA 4 SMA N Sambungmacan Sragen. The amount of this research subject is thirty students. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data acquired with the learning process observation, the student's response questionnaire, and the student's cognitive tests. The results show that the student has difficulty in analyzing the elasticity and the force of deviation, speed, and acceleration concept, illustrates hooke law, and the matter's modulus elasticity. The difficult stages of the inquiry-based physics learning are the problem formulation, the formulation of hypotheses, the data obtaining, the testing hypotheses, conclusions, the implementation of the conclusions and generalizations, and the reflection stage.

Abstract

Indonesian new Curriculum for senior high school students required student-centered learning. One of the curriculum implementation constraint was the difficulty of providing learning media. PhET simulations media is one of the options that can help implementation of new curriculum on learning. However, the use of this media in Indonesia still needs to be studied comprehensively. The learning was conducted on students of physics education Study Program in sebelas maret university in 2013. The sample consisted of 62 students that was taking quantum physics course. The method that was used in the research was descriptive qualitative.  The method that was used in learning was demonstration’s method that used PhET media and accompanied by a question and answer and groups discussion. The data was collected using multiple choice test and interview through email. We found that any students still did not understand about photoelectric effect concept. They were confused when asked about the thick material and cross section of the targets as related with the regardless of electrons in the photoelectric effect event. Other than that, the concept of the waves as a particle and its relation with the kinetic energy of the electrons was not understood by most students.

Abstract

Introduction: Learning activities require creative thinking skills in supporting sustainable development. Instruments that measure the creative thinking skills of vocational school students are still very limited. Purpose: Thisarticle aims to develop and validate instruments in measuring the creative thinking skills of vocational school students. Methods: Research data obtained through tests of creative thinking skills based on sustainable development. Item analysis to determine the internal consistency criteria used Pearson Product Moment on data collected from thirty-five students. The instrument consists of a verbal test (28 questions) and a figural test (2 questions) in measuring the components of fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration. Instrument reliability was determined using the Cronbachalpha coefficient. Result: The internal consistency criteria of each component is relatively high. The lowest average degree was 0.536 for the flexibility component, and the highest average degree was 0.727 for the fluency component. The Cronbach alpha coefficient for the reliability test was 0.723. Conclusion: The results revealed that the instrument of creative thinking skills is a valid and reliable tool for assessing the creative thinking skills of vocational school students

Abstract

The research aimed to reveal the emergence percentage of Science Process Skill (SPS) indicator on summative test of 10th grade in Surakarta in the academic year 2015/ 2016 and to find the capable alternative assessment instruments for measuring science process skill. This research was a descriptive research through the analysis of science process skill indicators on the summative test in Surakarta academic year of 2015/2016 and physics teacher questionnaire concerned teachers’ instrument in physics learning process. Questionnaires were given to 67 Physics teachers in Surakarta and surrounding areas as samples using random sampling technique. The summative test was chosen from public and private senior secondary schools in Surakarta, representing high, medium and low-grade schools based on the average national examination score over the past 5 years. Selection of summative test sample using purposive sampling technique. The resuls show that the achievement percentage of Science Process Skill (SPS) indicators on the summative test of 10th grade in Surakarta in the academic year 2015/2016 was dominated by the skill of applying concept and skill of planning experiment has the lowest percentage. The two-tier multiple-choice assessment instrument is one of capable alternative instruments to measuring students’ science process skills. In conclusion, the low percentage of  occurance of science process skill indicator in summative test  requires  alternative instrument to measure students’ science process skill. Abstrak:Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persentase kemunculan indikator Keterampilan Proses Sains (KPS) pada soal ulangan kenaikan kelas X pada SMA/MA di Surakarta pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dan mengetahui instrumen penilaian alternatif yang mampu untuk mengukur keterampilan proses sains siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif melalui analisis indikator keterampilan proses sains pada soal ulangan kenaikan kelas pada SMA/MA di Surakarta tahun ajaran 2015/2016 dan melalui angket tentang instrumen yang dipakai guru dalam proses pembelajaran Fisika. Angket diberikan kepada 67 guru Fisika di Surakarta dan sekitarnya sebagai sampel dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Soal ulangan kenaikan kelas dipilih dari SMA/MA di Surakarta baik sekolah negeri maupun swasta yang mewakili sekolah kategori tinggi, sedang, dan rendah berdasarkan rata-rata nilai UN selama 5 tahun terakhir. Pemilihan sampel soal ulangan kenaikan kelas menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan persentase kemunculan indikator KPS pada soal ulangan kenaikan kelas X di Surakarta tahun ajaran 2015/2016 didominasi oleh keterampilan menerapkan konsep dan keterampilan merencanakan percobaan memiliki persentase kemunculan terendah. Selain itu, instrumen penilaian two-tier multiple choice merupakan salah satu instrumen alternatif yang mampu mengukur keterampilan proses sains siswa. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah masih rendahnya persentase kemunculan indikator keterampilan proses sains pada soal ulangan kenaikan kelas, sehingga diperlukan adanya alternatif instrumen yang mampu mengukur keterampilan proses sains siswa.

Abstract

This research is aimed to analyze the profile of students’ science process skill (SPS) by using instrument two-tier multiple choice. This is a descriptive research that describes the profile of students’ SPS. Subjects of the research were 10th-grade students from high, medium and low categorized school. Instrument two-tier multiple choice consists of 30 question that contains an indicator of SPS. The indicator of SPS namely formulating a hypothesis, designing experiment, analyzing data, applying the concept, communicating, making a conclusion. Based on the result of the research and analysis, it shows that: 1) the average of indicator achievement of science process skill at high categorized school on formulating hypothesis is 74,55%, designing experiment is 74,89%, analyzing data is 67,89%, applying concept is 52,89%, communicating is 80,22%, making conclusion is 76%, 2). the average of indicator achievement of science process skill at medium categorized school on formulating hypothesis is 53,47%, designing experiment is 59,86%, analyzing data is 42,22%, applying concept is 33,19%, communicating is 76,25%, making conclusion is 61,53%, 3) the average of indicator achievement of science process skill at low categorized school on formulating hypothesis is 51%, designing experiment is 55,17%, analyzing data is 39,17%, applying concept is 35,83%, communicating is 58,83%, making conclusion is 58%.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a science learning material using PjBL model integrated STEM approaches to enhance students' communication skills. The method used is the 4D Research and Development (R&D) model and an experimental method for testing the effectiveness of the device. The study population was all VII class in one of the junior high schools in the South Tangerang region with samples taken using a random sampling technique of 76 people. The instrument used was a device feasibility test sheet and an observation skill communication sheet. The data obtained were then analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results showed the components of the learning device in the form of syllabus, lesson plans, teaching materials and student worksheets, were very feasible to use with an average of 3.62. In addition, each item validity assessment instrument is also declared valid for use. The observed communication skills also increased from 1.59 to 3.15 with a gain value of 0.64 (medium category) for the experimental class. Meanwhile, the gain value for the control class is 0.005 (very low category). The difference in the gain value indicates that the learning device is effective in improving students' communication skills.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kebutuhan siswa terhadap pembelajaran fisika berbasis inkuiri. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa X IPA 4 SMA N Sambungmacan Sragen dengan jumlah 30 siswa. Metode penelitian ini  adalah kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan observasi proses pembelajaran, angket tanggapan siswa, serta wawancara singkat dengan siswa. Data yang diperoleh merupakan data kualitatif. Pembelajaran fisika berbasis inkuiri memiliki delapan tahap, yaitu: orientasi, perumusan masalah, perumusan hipotesis, pengumpulan data, pengujian hipotesis, kesimpulan, penerapan kesimpulan dan generalisasi, serta refleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan cara mengidentifikasi tahap pembelajaran inkuiri yang belum diterapkan pada siswa dalam mata pelajaran fisika. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sebagain besar tahapan pembelajaran inkuiri belum diterapkan pada siswa. Tahapan pembelajaran tersebut merupakan kebutuhan  siswa yang harus terpenuhi agar pembelajaran fisika berbasis inkuiri dapat dilaksanakan dengan utuh. Tahapan pembelajaran inkuiri yang masih dibutuhkan oleh siswa tersebut adalah perumusan masalah, perumusan hipotesis, pengumpulan data, pengujian hipotesis, kesimpulan, penerapan kesimpulan dan generalisasi, serta refleksi.
