Abstract

Background: Dengue remains a major public health problem in tropical and subtropical regions, with transmission and disease outcomes strongly influenced by social, economic, and environmental conditions. Evidence indicates that inequities in socioeconomic status, community participation, healthcare access, and climate vulnerability contribute to unequal dengue burden, yet these aspects are rarely synthesized comprehensively. Methods: This narrative review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. A literature search was performed using Google Scholar to identify original research articles published between 2020 and 2025 that explicitly addressed equity-related aspects of dengue prevention and control. Data were analyzed using narrative synthesis. Results: Six studies from Asia, the Caribbean, and Latin America were included. The findings showed consistent inequities related to socioeconomic status, geographic access to healthcare, community participation, financial protection, and climate-related vulnerability. Low-income and marginalized populations experienced poorer preventive practices, higher out-of-pocket healthcare costs, and greater exposure to dengue risk, while unequal institutional capacity limited the implementation of climate-based early warning systems. Conclusion: Dengue prevention and control are shaped by multidimensional inequities operating across social, community, and health system levels. An equity-oriented approach is needed to strengthen dengue control strategies, particularly through inclusive community engagement, improved healthcare access, and climate-informed public health interventions.

Abstract

Abstract

The Community Empowerment Program (PRODAMAT) was implemented to strengthen the role of larval monitoring cadres (Jumantik) in dengue prevention through a community-based educational approach. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention in improving cadres’ knowledge of dengue prevention, particularly through the PSN 3M Plus strategy. A pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed involving 24 Jumantik cadres in Bokoharjo Village, Prambanan District, Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. The intervention consisted of interactive offline health education supported by PowerPoint-based materials covering dengue epidemiology, mosquito life cycles, and larval identification techniques. Knowledge was measured using pre-test and post-test questionnaires, and data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and paired samples t-test. The results showed that the mean knowledge score increased from 21.71 before the intervention to 23.50 after the intervention, with a statistically significant difference (t = -5.840; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that the educational intervention was effective in improving the cognitive capacity of Jumantik cadres regarding dengue prevention. However, increased knowledge alone may not ensure sustained preventive behavior without continuous supervision, motivation, and program support. Therefore, integrating community education with routine monitoring and public health surveillance is necessary to achieve long-term epidemiological outcomes, including improvement in the Larvae-Free Index.

Abstract

Antibiotics are one of the drugs used to treat disease problems caused by bacterial infections. Because they are used to treat bacterial infections, antibiotics should not be used without guidance from a doctor. As a result of inappropriate use, it will impact the emergence of antibiotic resistance. This research aims to determine the knowledge and attitudes of second-semester students regarding practice of obtaining antibiotics to and use of antibiotics at Faculty of Public Health of Ahmad Dahlan University (FKM UAD). This research is an analytical observational study conducted with a cross-sectional design. The population of this study was UAD FKM students in their second semester, from two different study programs. The number of respondents in this study was 127, obtained using accidental sampling. The instrument used in this research is an electronic questionnaire, which will be analyzed using chi-square analysis with a p-value 0.005. Student knowledge is in the low category (61.4%), and student attitudes are also negative (59.1%). Meanwhile, the chi-square test results show that knowledge (p-value: 0.025; PR: 2.5; 95% CI: 1.179-5.093) and attitude (p-value: 0.037; PR: 2.3; 95% CI: 1.112-4.713) have a relationship to practice of obtaining antibiotics in second-semester students at FKM UAD. Students' knowledge and attitudes are significantly related to the behaviour and practices regarding antibiotic use among FKM UAD students. It is hoped that related parties can create educational programs for students on the use of antibiotics and the importance of obtaining the right antibiotics.

Abstract

Digitalization in radiology services aims to enhance efficiency and facilitate easier access for patients. However, its implementation can elicit various responses from users. This study examines the relationship between the digitalization of radiology services and patient satisfaction levels. A quantitative analytic cross-sectional design was employed, involving 100 respondents selected incidentally from a population of 1,055 regular radiology patients. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate methods with the chi-square test at a 5% significance level. The results demonstrated a significant relationship between digitalization in terms of accessibility and patient satisfaction concerning product quality (p = 0.000) and service quality (p = 0.004). Meanwhile, digitalization related to efficiency showed no significant effect on satisfaction regarding product quality (p = 0.100), but was significantly associated with service quality (p = 0.040). These findings indicate that digitalization of radiology services has a significant impact on patient satisfaction, particularly through improved accessibility influencing both product and service quality, as well as efficiency affecting service quality. This underscores the importance of optimizing digital systems to improve the overall quality of healthcare services.

Abstract

Scabies remains a significant public health problem in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools, where overcrowding and inadequate sanitation facilitate transmission. This systematic literature review aimed to synthesize evidence on personal and environmental risk factors associated with scabies in these settings. The review question was developed using the PIOT model. A systematic search was conducted through Publish or Perish across Scopus, Crossref, Google Scholar, and Semantic Scholar on April 21, 2025, applying Boolean operators and limiting results to English and Indonesian case-control studies with full-text availability. Study selection followed PRISMA procedures, yielding 11 eligible studies from 1,500 identified records. Screening, selection, and data extraction were performed manually by two independent reviewers. Risk of bias was assessed using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale (NOS), and certainty of evidence was evaluated with the GRADE approach. Consistent determinants identified included personal hygiene, knowledge, environmental sanitation, crowding, attitudes, socioeconomic status, waste management, and age. NOS scores ranged from 6–8, indicating generally good quality, while GRADE showed mostly moderate certainty, downgraded primarily due to imprecision. Scabies risk is strongly shaped by hygiene behaviors and environmental conditions, highlighting the need for comprehensive prevention strategies.

Abstract

In Indonesia, the coverage of tuberculosis preventive treatment in household contacts has not reached the national target (58%) of 2,6%. In the age group <5 years and other risk groups, the coverage was 5,1% and 3,1% , and the coverage in PLHIV was 6% with a national target of 50%. This literature review aimed to explore the factors that determine successful completion of TB preventive treatment. The literature review approach was conducted using databases from PubMed, Google Scholar, and ProQuest. Articles selected were full text, open access, between 2015 and 2025, and not a literature review, systematic review, or meta-analysis. From 487,952 articles based on keywords, 16 articles were selected that met the objectives and inclusion criteria of this study. The 16 articles were then entered into a matrix table to identify research results that were factors associated with the completion rate of tuberculosis preventive treatment (TPT) in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis. High TPT completion was supported by demographic factors, safe treatment regimens with minimal side effects, technology-based community approaches, improved access and adherence, tuberculosis education, social support, integrated health care systems and health policies.
