Abstract

ABSTRACT Ornamental fish is non consumption fish which is an important source of Indonesian foreign exchange. The objective of this study is to analyze the productivity of bronze corydoras Corydoras aeneus ornamental fish through increased stocking density with biofloc technology. The average weight of the experimental corydoras was 0.61 ‒0.72 g with 2.32‒2.40 cm standard length. This study used a randomized design method with biofloc technology treatment in 3000, 4500, and 6000 fish/m2 stocking densities. The results showed that the daily length and weight-growth rate among treatments were not significantly different (P>0.05), while survival rate and the number of fish production on all treatments were significantly different (P<0.05). The water quality during the rearing period, such as temperature, pH, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate, were in a tolerable range for corydoras culture. The total suspended solids tended to be higher due to higher stocking density. The best productivity using biofloc technology obtained from 6000 fish/m2 stocking density. Keywords: Biofloc technology, Corydoras aeneus, growth rate, stocking density, survival rate. ABSTRAK Ikan hias merupakan produk perikanan non konsumsi yang menjadi sumber devisa Indonesia yang cukup penting. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis produktivitas ikan hias koridoras melalui peningkatan padat tebar dengan teknologi bioflok. Ikan yang digunakan adalah ikan hias koridoras (Corydoras aeneus) berbobot 0,61‒0,72 g dan panjang baku 2,32‒2,40 cm. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan perlakuan teknologi bioflok pada padat tebar 3000, 4500, dan 6000 ekor/m2. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan harian panjang dan bobot antar perlakuan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05), sedangkan kelangsungan hidup dan jumlah produksi ikan pada semua perlakuan berbeda nyata (P<0,05). Nilai kualitas air selama pemeliharaan yakni suhu, pH, alkalinitas, amonia, nitrit, dan nitrat yang berada pada kisaran yang cukup baik untuk budidaya ikan. Total padatan tersuspensi cenderung tinggi akibat dari semakin tinggi padat tebar. Produktivitas terbaik pada budidaya ikan koridoras dengan teknologi bioflok adalah pada padat tebar 6000 ekor/m2. Kata kunci:  Corydoras aeneus, kelangsungan hidup, padat tebar, pertumbuhan, teknologi bioflok

Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the optimum dose of melastoma Melastoma malabathricum leaf extract that can inhibit the gonad development of Nile tilapia and increase its growth rate. This study used a completely randomized design containing five extract dose treatments (0, 0.5, 1, 2, and 4 g/kg diet doses) and three replications. The undifferentiated Nile tilapia larvae (7 days post hatching) were randomly distributed (n=30) to fifteen aquaria (100×50×50 cm3) and maintained for 112 days using a common recirculation system. The results showed that all dose treatments were not significantly different (P>0.05) in gonadosomatic index values of the D84 and D98 samplings. However, the 1 g/kg diet (D112) was significantly different (P<0.05) in all dose treatments. The final histological results (D112) showed that the 1 g/kg diet obtained the highest inhibition level of the testis and ovary developments, which were still in stage II compared to 0.5 g/kg diet (stage III) and control (stage IV and V). The highest average weight, absolute growth rate, and specific growth rate were obtained in the 1 g/kg diet dose which was significantly different (P<0.05) compared to the control. The percentage of males increased significantly (P<0.05) following the increased dose treatment fed to the fish (4 g/kg diet) with 80.12±4.67%, but the survival rate significantly decreased (P<0.05) compared to the control. The administration of 1 g/kg diet dose obtained the best dose and potential as an inhibiting agent for gonad development in Nile tilapia. Keywords: Melastoma malabathricum, gonad inhibition, cytosterol, Oreochromis niloticus ABSTRAK Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan dosis optimum ekstrak daun melastoma Melastoma malabathricum yang dapat menghambat perkembangan gonad ikan nila sehingga meningkatkan laju pertumbuhan somatik dan mengevaluasi efektivitasnya sebagai agen seks reversal alami. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri atas lima perlakuan (dosis 0; 0,5; 1,0; 2,0; dan 4,0 g/kg pakan) dan tiga ulangan. Larva ikan nila sebelum kelamin terdiferensiasi (7 hari pascatetas) secara acak (n=30) dimasukkan ke dalam 15 buah akuarium (100×50×50 cm3) dan dipelihara selama 112 hari pada sistem resirkulasi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa semua perlakuan tidak berbeda nyata (P>0,05) terhadap nilai GSI pada sampling D84 dan D98. Namun, perlakuan 1 g/kg pakan pada sampling D112 berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dengan semua perlakuan. Hasil histologi terakhir (D112) menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan 1 g/kg pakan mengindikasikan penghambatan perkembangan testis dan ovari yang paling besar yang masing-masing berada pada TKG II, dibandingkan dengan perlakuan 0,5 g/kg pakan (TKG III), dan dibandingkan dengan kontrol (TKG IV dan TKG V). Pengamatan terhadap bobot rata-rata, laju pertumbuhan mutlak, dan laju pertumbuhan harian tertinggi diperoleh pada perlakuan 1 g/kg pakan yang berbeda nyata (P<0,05) dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Persentase jantan meningkat secara signifikan (P<0,05) seiring meningkatnya konsentrasi ekstrak yang mencapai 80,12±4,67% pada perlakuan 4 g/kg pakan, namun tingkat kelangsungan hidup menurun secara signifikan (P<0,05) dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Pada keseluruhan parameter, pemberian ekstrak 1 g/kg pakan merupakan dosis terbaik dan potensial sebagai agen penghambat perkembangan gonad pada ikan nila. Abstract

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to determine the optimum level of organic selenium supplementation in improving the growth performance of Nile tilapia Oreochromis niloticus fed with diet containing low protein level. Basal diet was formulated to contain 28% protein with three different levels of organic selenium supplementation, namely 0 (control), 3, and 6 mg Se/kg feed. Furthermore, to evaluate selenium function on protein utilization and sparring effect, a diet with 30% of protein content was also used as a comparison. In this regard, this study was conducted using a completely randomized experimental design with four treatments and three replications. Nile tilapia with an average body weight of 8.05 ± 0.25 g were reared in the 100×50×50 cm3 aquarium at a density of 15 fish/aquarium. The experimental fish were reared for 60 days and fed three times daily to apparent satiation levels. Dietary supplementation of organic Se resulted in higher fish biomass, lower feed conversion ratio, higher protein retention and daily growth rate compared to the control diets with 28% and 30% protein levels. In conclusion, dietary supplementation of organic Se at 3 mg organic Se/kg feed could significantly increase protein utilization and improve the growth performance of Nile tilapia. Keywords: tilapia, protein sparing effect, organic selenium, feed ABSTRAK Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan tingkat suplementasi selenium organic pada pakan untuk meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan nila Oreochromis niloticus. Pakan basal diformulasikan mengandung 28% protein dengan tiga tingkat selenium organik yaitu 0 (kontrol), 3, dan 6 mg Se/kg pakan. Selanjutnya untuk mengevaluasi penggunaan selenium pada pemanfaatan protein dan efek sparring, pakan dengan 30% protein juga ditambahkan sebagai perlakuan pembanding. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Ikan nila dengan bobot rata-rata adalah 8.05 ± 0.25 g dipelihara dalam akuarium 100 × 50 × 50 cm3 dengan kepadatan 15 ikan/akuarium. Ikan dipelihara selama 60 hari dan diberi pakan tiga kali sehari secara at satiation. Pemberian pakan dengan suplementasi Se organic menghasilkan biomassa ikan yang lebih tinggi, rasio konversi pakan yang lebih rendah, retensi protein dan laju pertumbuhan harian yang lebih tinggi daripada perlakuan control dengan kadar protein 28% dan 30%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini, dapat disimpulkan bahwa suplemtasi pakan ikan nila dengan 3 mg Se organik/kg pakan dapat meningkatkan pemanfaatan protein pakan dan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan Nila. Abstract

ABSTRACT Clarias gariepinus rearing is mostly done with intensive systems that use a lot of commercial feed. The price of raw material for the feed lipid source which is currently the main source of fatty acids in freshwater fish feed continues to increase and compete with human needs. Rubber seed oil (RSO) is considered feasible to be an alternative. This study aimed to evaluate the use of heated RSO as alternative lipid source in C gariepinus feed. The results of this study indicated that heating could reduce HCN levels in RSO by 95%. Even after heated RSO was inserted into the feed formulation there is still HCN in feed, however it did not affect the survival rate of C. gariepinus statistically. Heated RSO based feed shows a specific growth rate that was higher than non-heating RSO-based feed. Feeding with heated RSO also did not affect nutrient retention in C. gariepinus. This also followed by blood profile, blood chemistry and body fatty acids profile, MDA levels and SOD levels which were almost same as treatment feed using fish oil and corn oil. From these results, it can be concluded that heating can reduce 95% HCN content in RSO and can be used as a lipid source in C. gariepinus feed. Keywords: Aquaculture, essential fatty acids, growth performance, HCN, rubber seed oil. ABSTRAK Budidaya ikan lele Clarias gariepinus dengan sistem intensif menggunakan banyak pakan buatan. Harga bahan baku untuk sumber lemak pakan terus meningkat dan bersaing dengan kebutuhan manusia. Minyak biji karet (MBK) layak menjadi alternatif. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi penggunaan MBK yang dipanaskan sebagai sumber lemak alternatif dalam pakan ikan lele. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan proses pemanasan dapat mengurangi kadar HCN pada MBK hingga 95%. Walaupun masih terdapat sejumlah kecil HCN pada pakan berbasis MBK yang dipanaskan, tetapi tidak memengaruhi tingkat kelangsungan hidup ikan lele (p>0,05). Pakan berbasis MBK proses pemanasan menunjukkan laju pertumbuhan spesifik yang lebih tinggi dari pakan berbasis MBK yang tidak dipanaskan. Pemberian pakan berbasis MBK proses pemanasan juga tidak memengaruhi retensi nutrisi ikan lele. Demikian pula parameter profil darah, kimia darah, profil asam lemak tubuh, kadar MDA dan kadar SOD hampir sama dengan pakan perlakuan berbasis minyak ikan dan minyak jagung. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan MBK proses pemanasan dapat mengurangi 95% kandungan HCN dan dapat digunakan sebagai sumber lemak dalam pakan ikan lele. Abstract

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to determine the optimum level of Zinc (Zn) enrichment in Artemia sp. nauplii as a live feed to improve bone formation and growth of climbing perch Anabas testudinieus larvae. The study consisted of four different Zn enrichment levels (0.0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 mg/mL) in Artemia sp.nauplii. The enrichment was performed for 12 hours with the nauplii density of 1 ind/mL. Climbing perch larvae with an average initial length of 1.65 ± 0.15 mm were fed four times daily with the enriched nauplii. For the first 5 days, all larvae were fed with rotifer followed by feeding with enriched Artemia nauplii ad libitum. The results showed that the application of Artemia sp. enrichment at 0.1 mg Zn/mL influenced the bone formation, increased the growth, and improved the fish survival of climbing perch larvae. Feeding with 0.1 mg/mL Zn enriched Artemia nauplii could be recommended as a strategy to improve the bone formation and growth performance of climbing perch larvae. Keywords: Anabas testudineus, Artemia sp., climbing perch, live feed, zinc ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan menentukan dosis optimum pengayaan seng (Zn) pada naupli Artemia sp. terhadap pembentukan tulang dan peningkatan pertumbuhan larva ikan betok. Penelitian dilakukan selama 18 hari dengan empat dosis pengayaan Zn yang berbeda (0, 0,05, 0,1, dan 0,15 mg/mL) pada naupli Artemia. Pengayaan dilakukan selama 12 jam dengan kepadatan naupli 1 ind/mL. Larva ikan betok dengan ukuran panjang awal rata-rata 1.65 ± 0.15 mm diberi pakan naupli yang diperkaya sebanyak 4 kali sehari. Pada lima hari pertama, semua larva diberi pakan rotifer, diikuti dengan pemberian naupli Artemia yang diperkaya secara ad libitum. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa pengayaan naupli Artemia sp. dengan Zn 0,1 mg/mL berpengaruh terhadap pembentukan tulang belakang dan dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan serta meningkatkan kelangsungan hidup larva ikan betok. Pemberian naupli Artemia dengan Zn sebanyak 0.1 mg Zn/mL dapat direkomendasikan untuk perbaikan pembentukan tulang dan pertumbuhan larva ikan betok. Abstract

This study was aimed to evaluate the use of corn steep powder (CSP) as a plant protein source in Oreochromis niloticus diet. A commercial feed with 28% protein content and 368 kcal/g energy was used as reference diet, while the test feed consisting of various CSP content, namely 0%, 10%, 20%, and 30% and feed containing soybean meal (SBM) at the level of 20% and 30%. Tilapia were used in the trial with the initial body weight of 6.44 ± 0.29 g, and reared for thirty days in the aquarium at the density of fifteen and fed 3 times daily at a satiation level. All diets were supplied by 0.5% of Cr2O3 as an indicator for digestibility measurement. This study applied the completely randomized design experimental method containing six diet treatments and four replications. The result showed that CSP contains 40.27% protein, 26.10% lactic acid, and minerals. CSP is low in crude fiber and anti-nutritional factors. This study results that increasing the level of CSP significantly decreased feed acidity (P <0.05) compared to the control. The addition of CSP 20% increased feed digestibility including protein, lipid, energy, and dry matter digestibility. CSP 20% treatment increased final body weight, specific growth rate and reduced feed conversion ratio significantly (P<0.05) compare to other treatments. In conclusion, CSP can be used up to 20% to improve the growth performance of tilapia. Keyword: corn steep powder, feed digestibility, growth performance, tilapia ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi penggunaan corn steep powder (CSP) sebagai sumber protein nabati pada pakan ikan nila Oreochromis niloticus. Pakan komersial dengan kadar protein 28% dan energi 368 kkal/g digunakan sebagai pakan acuan, sementara pakan uji terdiri atas pakan dengan kandungan CSP sebanyak 0% (CSP0), 10% (CSP10), 20% (CSP20) dan 30% (CSP30) serta pakan dengan kandungan tepung bungkil kedelai (SBM) pada level 20% (SBM20) dan 30% (SBM30) sebagai pembanding. Penambahan Cr2O3 0,5 % diberikan sebagai indikator untuk mengukur kecernaan. Ikan nila dengan bobot tubuh rata-rata 6.44 ± 0.29 dipelihara dalam akuarium (95×45×45 cm3) yang diisi air 100 L dengan kepadatan 15 ekor per akuarium dan diberi pakan tiga kali sehari secara at satiation selama 30 hari masa pemeliharaan. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain rancangan acak lengkap dengan enam perlakuan dan empat ulangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa CSP mengandung protein sebesar 40,27%, asam laktat 26,10%, beberapa mineral dan indeks asam amino esensial 0,90. CSP juga rendah serat kasar dan zat antinutrisi. Peningkatan dosis CSP menurunkan pH pakan secara signifikan (P<0.05) dibandingkan dengan kontrol. Penambahan CSP sampai level 20% meningkatkan nilai kecernaan total, kecernaan bahan, kecernaan protein, kecernaan lemak dan kecernaan energi. Di samping itu, perlakuan CSP 20% meningkatkan bobot akhir, laju pertumbuhan harian dan rasio konversi pakan yang signifikan (P<0,05) dibandingkan perlakuan lainnya. Abstract

This study was aimed to evaluate the influence of corncob hydrolysis on its crude fiber content, digestibility level, and utilization in the red Nile tilapia diet. This study was performed in two steps, namely hydrolysis and digestibility test. The first study step was enzymatic hydrolysis using 0.4 g/kg cocktail enzyme, followed by chemical hydrolysis using hydrochloric acid (HCl) at different treatments, i.e. concentration, incubation period, and ratio. The second step was designed using a completely randomized design with five treatments, i.e. Rd (reference diet), TJt15% (15% unhydrolyzed corncob), TJt30% (30% unhydrolyzed corncob), TJh15% (15% corncob hydrolysis), and TJh30% (30% corncob hydrolysis). The average weight of tilapia was 15.86 ± 0.19 g/fish. The hydrolyzed corncob meal used for the second study step from the hydrolysis production could reduce 57.53% of crude fiber, 38.15% of NDF fiber fraction, 6.43% of ADF fiber fraction, and 61.96% of hemicellulose. The digestibility test results showed that the hydrolyzed corn cob diet obtained a higher digestibility level, digestive enzyme activity, and blood plasma protein than the unhydrolyzed corncob diet (P<0.05). This study concludes that the corncob hydrolysis eliminates the crude fiber content, fiber fraction contents (NDF, ADF, and hemicellulose), and improves the digestibility level of red Nile tilapia. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pengaruh hidrolisis tongkol jagung terhadap kandungan serat kasar, kecernaan, dan pemanfaatannya dalam pakan ikan nila merah. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua tahap, yaitu hidrolisis bahan dan uji kecernaan. Penelitian tahap pertama yaitu hidrolisis secara enzimatik menggunakan koktail enzim 0,4 g/kg dan dilanjutkan dengan hidrolisis kimiawi menggunakan asam klorida (HCl) dengan perlakuan yang berbeda yaitu konsentrasi, lama waktu inkubasi, dan rasio. Penelitian tahap kedua dirancang dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan lima perlakuan yaitu Rd, TJt15% (tongkol jagung tidak dihidrolisis 15%), TJt30% (tongkol jagung tidak dihidrolisis 30%), TJh15% (tongkol jagung dihidrolisis 15%), dan TJh30% (tongkol jagung dihidrolisis 30%). Ikan uji dengan bobot rata-rata sebesar 15,86±0,19 g/ekor. Hidrolisis tepung tongkol jagung dengan konsentrasi HCl 0.1 N, lama waktu inkubasi 8 jam, dan dengan rasio 1:4 yang digunakan untuk penelitian selanjutnya. Hidrolisis terhadap tepung tongkol jagung dapat menurunkan serat kasar 57,53%, fraksi serat NDF 38,15%, ADF 6,43%, dan hemiselulosa 61,96%. Hasil penelitian uji kecernaan menunjukkan bahwan pakan yang mengandung tongkol jagung terhidrolisis menghasilkan nilai kecernaan, aktivitas enzim pencernaan dan protein plasma darah yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan yang tidak dihidrolisis (P<0.05). Kesimpulanya, hidrolisis tongkol jagung menggunakan asam klorida (HCl) 0,1 N, lama waktu inkubasi 8 jam, dan rasio 1:4 dapat menurunkan serat kasar, fraksi serat (NDF, ADF, dan hemiselulosa), serta meningkatkan nilai kecernaan pakan ikan nila merah. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of organic selenium supplementation on diet with different protein levels on the growth performance and protein utilization of African catfish juvenile. A randomized 2×3 factorial design with two dietary protein levels (27% and 32%) and three dietary selenium (Se) supplementation levels (0 mg/kg, 3 mg/kg, and 6 mg/kg diet) in triplicates were applied in the study. African catfish juvenile with an initial average body weight and body length of 27.00 ± 0.14 g and 15.0 ± 0.5 cm, respectively, was reared in 18 units of aquarium (141 L) at a density of 142 fish/m3 for a rearing period of 40 days. Increasing organic Se supplementation level up to 6 mg/kg at high protein feed resulted in higher fish growth and final biomass, lower FCR, and higher protein utilization efficiency than those of other treatments. Furthermore, supplementation of organic Se also resulted in lower lipid and higher Se concentrations in the fish body as well as higher blood protein level compared to those of the control. In conclusion, the result of this study suggested that dietary supplementation of organic Se up to 6 mg/kg could enhance the growth and protein utilization in African catfish fed with both low and high protein diet. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pengaruh suplementasi selenium organik pada pakan dengan kadar protein yang berbeda terhadap kinerja pertumbuhan dan pemanfaatan protein pakan ikan lele Clarias gariepenus. Penelitian didesain menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap faktorial 2×3 dengan dua tingkat protein pakan (27% dan 32%) dan tiga tingkat suplementasi selenium (Se) pakan (0 mg/kg, 3 mg/kg, dan 6 mg/kg diet) sebanyak tiga ulangan. Ikan lele yang digunakan memiliki bobot awal rata-rata dan panjang tubuh 27 ± 0.14 g dan 15.0 ± 0.5 cm, dipelihara dalam 18 unit akuarium (141 L) dengan kepadatan 142 ekor/m3 selama 40 hari pemeliharaan. Peningkatan suplementasi Se organik hingga 6 mg/kg pada ikan yang diberi pakan protein tinggi menghasilkan kinerja pertumbuhan ikan dan biomassa akhir yang lebih tinggi, FCR yang lebih rendah, dan efisiensi pemanfaatan protein pakan yang lebih tinggi daripada perlakuan lain. Selain itu, suplementasi Se organik juga menghasilkan kadar lemak yang lebih rendah dan konsentrasi Se tubuh yang lebih tinggi serta kadar protein darah yang lebih tinggi. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu suplementasi Se organik pada pakan hingga 6 mg/kg dapat meningkatkan kinerja pertumbuhan dan pemanfaatan protein pakan pada ikan lele yang diberi pakan dengan kadar protein rendah dan tinggi. Abstract

ABSTRACT Tilapia gonads mature quickly before reaching market size, caused by a diverting of feed energy from growth to reproduction. As a result, somatic growth is disrupted to achieve market size, the operational costs are high, and the rearing period is longer. This study aims to evaluate the ability of karamunting leaf extracts to inhibit the development of tilapia gonads. This study used a complete randomized design with four treatments and three replications, namely 0 mg/kg, 25 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, and 100 mg/kg of karamunting leaf extract. Tilapia fish weighed 13–14 g were kept in an aquarium measuring 100×60×50 cm with a stocking density of 20 fish/ aquarium. Fish were fed twice a day at 8 a.m and 5 p.m in at satiation. Sampling was carried out at the beginning of the study, on day 30th and day 60th. On day 30th the result showed that the best dose in inhibiting the development of fish gonad was 100 mg/kg of karamunting leaf extract that was 1.15 ± 0.19% and the daily growth rate was increased at 2.22 ± 0.06%. On day 60th, the best dose in inhibiting gonad development was 25 mg/kg of karamunting leaf extract, which was 2.49 ± 1.24% and the daily growth rate was increased amount 3.26 ± 0.06%. Keywords: extract, karamunting leaves, gonad development, tilapia ABSTRAK Gonad ikan nila cepat berkembang sebelum mencapai ukuran pasar, menyebabkan pengalihan energi pakan dari pertumbuhan ke reproduksi. Akibatnya, pertumbuhan somatik terganggu sehingga untuk mencapai ukuran pasar biaya operasional tinggi dan masa pemeliharaan lebih lama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi ekstrak daun karamunting dalam menghambat perkembangan gonad ikan nila. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan; yaitu 0 mg/kg, 25 mg/kg, 50 mg/kg, dan 100 mg/kg ekstrak daun karamunting. Ikan nila berukuran 13–14 g dipelihara di akuarium berukuran 100×60×50 cm dengan padat tebar 20 ikan/akuarium. Ikan diberi makan dua kali sehari pada jam 8 pagi dan 5 sore dengan at satiation. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada awal penelitian, hari ke-30 dan hari ke-60. Hasil pada hari ke-30 menunjukan bahwa dosis terbaik dalam menghambat perkembangan gonad pada ikan uji adalah 100 mg/kg ekstrak daun karamunting yaitu 1.15 ± 0.19% dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan harian 2.22 ± 0.06%. Pada hari ke-60 dosis terbaik dalam menghambat perkembangan gonad adalah 25 mg/kg ekstrak daun karamunting yaitu 2.49 ± 1.24% dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan harian 3.26 ± 0.06%. Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the dietary supplementation of α-lipoic acid (ALA) on the growth performance, antioxidative capacity, and protein-sparring effect of striped catfish (Pangasianodon hypophthalmus) fingerling. The striped catfish (individual weight of 1.4 ± 0.0 g) were stocked in 25 cages at 2x1x1.5 m size in a 200-m pond at 50 fish. Fish were fed formulated diets with ALA supplementation, namely: diet A (27% protein: 390 kcal), diet B (27% protein: 390 kcal +ALA 8 g/kg), diet C (27% protein: 400 kcal), diet D (27% protein: 400 kcal +ALA 8 g/kg), and diet E (30% protein: 390 kcal). Feeding was performed until apparent satiation for 60 days. The ALA supplementation significantly produced higher final individual weight, specific growth rate, and protein efficiency ratio, followed by a lower feed conversion ratio on the 27:390+ALA diet treatment (P<0.05) than other diet treatments. The highest liver performance based on superoxide dismutase enzyme activity and glycogen contents was obtained from the 27:390+ALA diet treatment. The malondialdehyde, triglycerides, and lipid accumulation in the liver on the 27:390+ALA diet treatment were lower than other diet treatments (P<0.05). Therefore, the best growth performance and physiological status in striped catfish was obtained from 27:390+ALA diet treatment.
