Abstract

Freshwater crabs have a life cycle entirely in freshwater and play an essential role in the food chain as both omnivores and detritivores. Some freshwater crabs can only be found in clean water, so they can also be used as bioindicators of water quality. This study aims to determine the habitat and density of crabs in the Tanduk River in Rumbio Village and to investigate the relationship between environmental parameters and the density of P. pardus crabs in this area, Kampar District. The study was conducted from March to April 2024 in Rumbio Village, Kampar District, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The methods used were surveys and literature reviews. The survey method involved direct field visits to the study site. Sampling was conducted three times over a three-week period. The literature review involved collecting secondary data from previous studies and data obtained from local government offices. Primary data consisted of field data, including crab samples that were collected and identified, as well as water quality data. The study found that the density of P. pardus crabs in the Tanduk River in Rumbio Village was 10 individuals at Station 1, 16 individuals at Station 2, and 29 individuals at Station 3. Various factors, including environmental conditions like vegetation and food availability, influenced this. The habitat characteristics supporting the survival of P. pardus crabs based on water quality measurements in Rumbio Village during the study were temperature 27–28°C, turbidity 12–50 cm, pH 7.5–8.5, dissolved oxygen 5.7–7.2 mg/L, free CO₂ 5–17 mg/L, and phosphate 0.0730–0.1327 mg/L.

Abstract

Gastropods are mangrove organisms that act as bioindicators in mangrove ecosystems. Mangroves are called productive areas because they are rich in organic matter, which is a source of food and shelter for various biota, such as molluscs and other organisms. Human-induced pressure will cause damage to the mangrove ecosystem. The destruction of the mangrove ecosystem will affect the life of all biota that live in it, including gastropods. This study aims to determine the density and distribution pattern of gastropods in the mangrove area of Concong Dalam Village. This research was carried out in August-September 2024 in Concong Dalam Village. The method used in this study is the survey method. The data obtained is then calculated and analyzed. The results of the study show that there are 11 species of gastropods, nine genera, and six families, including Potamididae (3 types), Neritidae (2 types), Littorinidae (2 types), Ellobidae (1 type), Melogenidae (1 type), and Muricidae (1 type). The six types of mangroves found in this study are Rhizophora apiculata, R. mucronata, Bruguiera cylindrica, Avicennia alba, Sonneratia alba, and Nypa fruticans. The density value of gastropods obtained in Concong Dalam Village ranges from 2.67 – 11.39 ind/m2. The distribution pattern found in Concong Dalam Village is uniform, with an id value of 0.31-0.44. The density of mangroves in Concong Dalam Village ranges from 600 to 1967 p/ha, with the damage criteria being very good

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the main economic problems from conventional and Islamic perspectives. This is based on the fact that conventional economists view the main problem of economics as scarcity. Scarcity occurs as a result of an imbalance between society's needs. However, Muslim economists have different views from conventional economists, even within Muslim economists they still have different opinions regarding the main economic issues. In this research, the methodology used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data used is secondary data in the form of literature which discusses the object of this research. Research analysis was carried out in steps, such as material collection, descriptive analysis, discussion and intuitive-subjective evaluation of the material. The findings show that  there is a fundamental difference in the perspective on the main economic problems between conventional economic views and Islamic economics.. Conventional economics focuses more on product objects so that the focus of problems is centered on the limitations and scarcity of products in order to meet human physical needs only. This perspective is different from Islamic economics which places greater emphasis on human objects so that the focus of problems is not only focused on products alone, but also on human empowerment to be able to prosper themselves, their families, society and the country. This is one of human efforts in realizing/maintaining Maqashid Sharia (Mashlahah) and achieving Falah. Islam views that human dignity is an essential thing, so that every human being plays a role in achieving happiness in life.

Abstract

The rapid development of Islamic banking in Indonesia has rendered murabahah contracts the most dominant financing scheme; however, their implementation has frequently generated legal disputes adjudicated by the Religious Courts, particularly those concerning default, the determination of profit margins, the application of penalty clauses, and the execution of collateral auctions. This study aims to examine the patterns of murabahah dispute resolution by the Religious Courts in Indonesia during the 2014–2024 period by analyzing the application of classical Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) and ushul fiqh principles in judicial reasoning. Employing a normative–empirical approach, this research applies content analysis to 62 court decisions obtained from official sources using the keyword “murabahah.” The findings indicate that default-related disputes constitute the most dominant category, accounting for 41 decisions. In their legal reasoning, judges refer to the Compilation of Sharia Economic Law (KHES) and classical fiqh principles, particularly the prohibition of riba in assessing the legitimacy of profit margins and penalties, the principle of justice (al-‘adl) in balancing the rights and obligations of the parties, and the concept of maslahah in evaluating the implications of judicial decisions for the interests of the parties and the stability of Islamic banking. Nevertheless, the study identifies inconsistencies in judicial decisions arising from divergent judicial interpretations. Therefore, this study recommends strengthening judges’ understanding of fiqh mu‘amalah, harmonizing legal interpretations, and enhancing contractual transparency to reinforce legal certainty in Islamic banking practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: The dystopian narrative that has long been used as a source of fear in Indonesian horror films has not been able to reduce the rate of environmental destruction. This phenomenon shows a gap between imagination and ecological awareness. This study attempts to address the failure of ecological myths through Indonesian horror film narratives in changing people's social behavior. Using Lefebvre's theory of the production of space, this study analyzes how haunted spaces are constructed as ideological arenas that reinforce fear without producing ecological reflection. This study aims to reveal how Indonesian horror cinema produces ecological spaces that are trapped in mysticism, and offers a new reading of the failure of Indonesian visual culture in building a critical ecological subjectivity. Methods: This study employs a qualitative design. Data were drawn from secondary sources in the form of Indonesian horror films released over the past two decades. Analysis involved repeated viewing and systematic note taking, with interpretations cross validated against ancillary sources. Findings: Analysis of three Indonesian ecological horror films, namely Angkerbatu (2007), Eva: Pendakian Terakhir (2025), and Kereta Berdarah (2024) shows that ecological space is represented in symbolic and mystical rather than reflective terms. Environmental issues are reduced to religious morality and local myth, and the relationship between humans and nature remains hierarchical and anthropocentric, reinforcing ritual ecology instead of encouraging a post-fear ecology. Indonesian cinematic space functions less as lived space and more as perceived space governed by the logics of industry, myth, and religion. Conclusion: These findings indicate that the failure to construct an ecological imagination is not merely a cinematic shortcoming but a reflection of social structures that struggle to envision nature beyond sacred or supernatural frames. Novelty/Originality of this article: The article advances a new reading of Indonesian horror cinema by integrating spatial production theory with cultural ecology and by introducing ritual ecology as a form of stagnant ecological consciousness. In doing so, it charts a new direction for ecocriticism and Southeast Asian cinema studies, showing how myth and fear configure an environmental imagination that resists reflection.

Abstract

Background: Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus sp.) is one of the high-value fishery commodities that is widely harvested in the Terubuk Fishery Reserve Area, Buruk Bakul Village. The increasing demand and market price of Spanish mackerel have led to high fishing intensity, which may exert pressure on the resource stock. The fishing techniques employed in the mackerel fishery play a critical role in ensuring the sustainability of this resource. This study aims to evaluate the status of Spanish mackerel fishing techniques within the framework of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Management (EAFM). Methods: Data collection was carried out through surveys and interviews with fishers during the period of November–December 2024 in Buruk Bakul Village, Bengkalis Regency. The analysis applied a multi-criteria method using a flag model, which assessed indicators such as destructive fishing practices, gear modification and auxiliary devices, fishing capacity and effort, selectivity of gear, and the compliance of vessel function and size with legal documentation. Findings: The findings indicate that Spanish mackerel fishing techniques in this area fall under the “good” category, with a score of 220. These results indicate that the management of Spanish mackerel in the Terubuk Sanctuary Area, in terms of fishing techniques, remains in good condition and applies the principles of sustainable fisheries. However, several indicators require improvement. Conclusion: The study concludes that Spanish mackerel fishing practices in the Terubuk Sanctuary Area are generally sustainable and categorized as good, but improvements are still needed in fishing capacity and effort, gear selectivity, and vessel compliance. Optimizing these aspects will help ensure the long-term sustainability of the resource while maintaining fishery efficiency.

Abstract

The agricultural sector plays a strategic role in the Indonesian economy, including in South Kalimantan, but its contribution to the Regional Gross Domestic Product (GRDP) varies unevenly across regions. This study aims to analyze the determinants of the agricultural sector GRDP in South Kalimantan both globally and spatially. Using panel data from 13 regencies/cities for the period 2020–2024, the analysis was conducted using two approaches is global panel regression and Geographically Weighted Panel Regression (GWPR). The results show that the GWPR model is significantly superior in capturing spatial heterogeneity compared to the global model, with a Cross Validation (CV) value of 0.0425 and R² of 0.7042. At the local level, the GWPR model was able to explain up to 86.76% of the variation in Tabalong Regency. Globally, plantation area, capital expenditure (lag 1), and the mining sector's contribution significantly affect agricultural GRDP. However, GWPR estimates reveal substantial spatial variation, the coefficient of plantation area ranges from 0.036 to 0.233 (highest in Tabalong), capital expenditure from 0.019 to 0.050, while the mining sector's contribution shows a consistently negative effect (–0.035 to –0.006), with the strongest impact in mining-intensive areas. These findings confirm the necessity of differentiated policy approaches tailored to the local characteristics of each region.
