Mathematical literacy It is important to have and improve early on students at the elementary school level. Mathematical literacy is related to students' ability to interpret mathematics in various contexts in life. The purpose of this research was to examine the literacy level of elementary school students in Indonesia based on the gestalt theory. This research method uses Literature Review (LR). Data collection was carried out by reviewing all articles related to students' literacy skills that were published in the 2016-2023 period. This research examines 35 indexed national journal articles obtained through the Google Schoolar database using the Harzing Publish or Perish application. The results of this research show that the mathematical literacy skills of elementary school students are very diverse. Abstract

Scientific literacy is one of the crucial skills in digitalization era. Scientific literacy is one of parameters in International Student Assessment Program (PISA). Indonesia was still far from the average PISA assessment. Pupils' scientific literacy abilities are now judged to be at a poor level. The major goal of this study is to know the effectiveness of using the guided discovery with the SELWAN app in improving pupils' scientific literacy. This research used a non-equivalent control group design and was a quasi-experiment. During the school year 2022-2023, this inquiry was carried out at Nazhatut Thullab Middle School. All seventh-grade pupils from Nazhatut Thullab Middle School are included in the study. The experimental group consists of 25 pupils from class VII E, and the control group consists of 23 pupils from class VII F. For data analysis, the independent sample t-test is used to examine pupils' scientific literacy abilities. The findings show that deploying the guided discovery in conjunction with the SELWAN application has a detectable influence on pupils' scientific literacy. The SELWAN app's guided discovery learning received a resoundingly favorable reaction from pupils, with 81.06% falling into the ideal category

Abstract

Objective: Prospective science teachers must have good scientific literacy skills as critical agents in developing future generations' scientific literacy. However, the scientific literacy skills of prospective science teachers in Indonesia still need to improve. This research tries to formulate the OMIRE learning model to increase the scientific literacy of prospective science teachers. Method: The method used is a literature study with a qualitative research type. Results: The hypothetical OMIRE learning model synthesizes inquiry-based learning models and culture-based learning models to develop the scientific literacy of prospective science teachers. This model is based on several learning theories, including constructivism, Piaget's cognitive development theory, Vygotsky's social constructivist theory, Ausuble's meaningful learning, Bruner's discovery learning, Novak's concept map (mind map), information processing theory, collateral learning theory, boundary crossing metaphor culture, and scientific reconstruction. The hypothetical OMIRE learning model consists of five phases: Observation (O), Mind Mapping (M), Investigation (I), Reconstruction (R), and Evaluation (E). Novelty: The hypothetical OMIRE learning model can develop the scientific literacy of prospective science teachers. Further research needs to be conducted to test the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the OMIRE learning model in improving the scientific literacy of prospective science teachers.
