Abstract

ABSTRACT. Single Aged Garlic (SAG), a fermented product from a single garlic, has been extensively studied for its health benefits due to its allicin content. To enhance SAG's drug delivery capabilities, this study aimed to characterize transfersome formulations containing SAG, investigating their phytochemical activities and the effects of different absolute solvents. Transfersome formulations, consisting of soy-phospholipid and either Span-60 (T1) or Tween-80 (T2), were prepared using absolute ethanol (EA) or a chloroform-methanol mixture (CM). Characterization included particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), and zeta potential. Phytochemical tests assessed antioxidant activity, total phenolic content, and total flavonoid content. Results showed that T2-CM formulations exhibited the best PDI (0.372 ± 0.022), smallest particle size (T1-CM: 84.333 ± 1.762 nm), and lowest zeta potential (T2-EA: -25.667 ± 0.666 mV). Additionally, T1-CM and T2-CM formulations demonstrated superior antioxidant, flavonoid, and phenolic content compared to T1-EA and T2-EA. Transfersomes formulated with organic solvents like absolute ethanol, methanol, and chloroform exhibit promising characteristics and can effectively protect the antioxidant compounds, flavonoids, and phenols present in SAG extracts. These solvents, known for their ability to dissolve polar and nonpolar compounds, facilitate the formation of stable, well-characterized transfersomes. These findings suggest that transfersomes prepared with chloroform-methanol mixtures are more promising for SAG delivery. Abstract

This research was conducted with the intention of developing students' soft skills through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model in Islamic Religious Education subjects at SMKN 3 Palangka Raya. Non-technical skills such as critical thinking skills in solving problems, effective interpersonal communication, and collaboration in groups, are important aspects that students must have in order to face challenges in the professional world. The research approach used was Classroom Action Research (CAR), by adopting the spiral model from Kemmis and McTaggart which includes the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. A total of 30 students from class X Culinary 2 were used as subjects in this study, but only 28 students were consistently involved in each learning cycle. The analysis technique used was descriptive quantitative, with data collection methods in the form of observation, questionnaire distribution, documentation, and in-depth interviews. The findings showed that the percentage of soft skill mastery increased, from 76.48% in the first cycle to 78.00% in the second cycle, both of which were included in the "good" category. This fact indicates that the implementation of well-designed and contextually appropriate problem-based learning can encourage significant improvements in the development of students' soft skills.

Abstract

The development of digital technology, although encouraging the adoption of gamification-based platforms in education, has not yet seen much research conducted to determine their effectiveness and challenges in Arabic language learning. Quizzes are one of the more popular platforms, currently offering real-time scoring and leaderboards as part of the learning experience. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the motivation, effectiveness, and challenges in using Quizizz for Arabic language learning at MAN 1 Cirebon. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method involving five students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The research results show that the use of Quizizz can enhance student motivation through competitive elements, enrich subject understanding in a more enjoyable way, and create activity in the classroom environment. However, there are serious challenges such as limited internet access, data quotas, imperfect devices, and time constraints as obstacles in its implementation. The implication of this research is that the integration of gamification platforms must also consider the readiness in terms of technological infrastructure and the psychological factors of learners to achieve the best results in education. Recommendations in this study include enhancing flexible features and exploring more interactive platforms to adapt to the needs and characteristics of students in different learning contexts.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of decoction of pulutan leaves simplicia(Urenalobata L.) on the development of the uterus of Balb C mice (Musmusculus). Female mice aged 10-12 weeks were given decoction of pulutan leaves simplicia with concentration of 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15%, and control. The administration of pulutan leaves was performed by gavage for 11 consecutive days. On day 12, mice were dissected, then, the uterus was taken for histological preparations using paraffin method. Data such as uterine diameter and myometrium and epimetrium thickness were analyzed using one way analysis of variance followed by least significant different. The results showed that decoction of pulutan leaves simplicia decrease the uterine diameter and epimetrium and myometrium thickness compared to control. The decrease of uterine diameter and uterine myometrium and epimetrium thickness was started at the concentration of 7.5%. Decoction of pulutan leaves simplicia could reduce uterine diameter and thickness of uterine myometrium and epimetrium, thus, it might decrease the uterine function as the site of implantation. The decline in the function of the uterus might decrease the number of born children, thus decoction of pulutan leaves simplicia is potential as antifertility agent.
