Abstract

This research is motivated by various problems related to the quality and relevance of Indonesian education which are the main issues. Indicators of quality education are marked by graduates who have superior competencies and are able to compete in the business world and industry for graduates from Vocational Secondary Education. Quality vocational education applying quality standards can contribute to the country's economic development, but it still cannot be realized optimally at the time of its implementation. Such conditions occur in SMK graduates in Indonesia so that the open unemployment of SMK graduates is getting bigger. It is interesting to do further research to find out why and how this happened and find solutions to the problems faced. Dual Based Assessment (DuBA) on the vocational skills aspect is expected to be a solution in ensuring the quality of skills at the Center of Excellence Vocational High School and Vocational Schools in general. In particular, this study describes and analyzes the "Daming Cycle" quality management approach from William Edward Deming, with its management principles approach which include: Plan, Do, Check and Action Dual Based Assessment in Improving Skills Quality at SMK Center of Excellence. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach through interview data collection techniques, documentation studies and observations at the research location of Pertiwi Kuningan Vocational School, West Java. Abstract

The present study reports the first comprehensive study on the freshwater macroinvertebrates and its habitat preferences in Bilah River, the largest riverin the Northern Sumatra. The riverside is characterized by the presence of anthropogenic and industrial activities which may alter the macroinvertebrate assemblage and biodiversity. Five months of investigation on 10 sampling stations from December 2016 to October 2017 was conducted based on the river flow in Bilah River. Principal component analysis indicated a decrease in trophic status from upstream to downstream of the river. A total of 27 taxa were recorded, with the most abundant group were members of Odonata, Gastropoda, and Decapoda. The highest density of macroinvertebrate was observed from station 1 (160 ind m-2), while the lowest density was observed from station 9 (38.64 ind m-2). Based on species distribution and similarity, two groups of habitats may be distinctively recognized based on the Bray-curtis similarity coefficient. Group 1 consisted of station 1, 2, 3 and 4 while group 2 consisted of station 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. Based on the diversity indices as ecological parameters, the habitat condition in Bilah River is categorized from low to moderately polluted. Spatial patterns in both environmental conditions affecting the macroinvertebrate assemblage was observed using canonical correspondence analysis (CCA) revealed the preferences from each macroinvertebrate species towards environmental conditions.

Abstract

One of the causes of the low quality of education graduates in Indonesia is the low quality management of academic services in schools, especially in State Junior High Schools. The low quality of graduates in junior high schools is due to common mistakes made by principals in managing education so that the quality of junior high schoolgraduates is low, including: (1) principals lead with a weak vision and mission; (2) the principal as a leader who lacks innovation in educational programs; (3) Principals lead without utilizing technology in the learning process; (4) Principals lead by ignoring social networks; (5) The principal does not provide creative space for teachers and students; (6) The principal does not use conflict as a driver of progress. In this regard, the researchers chose the title of the study, namely "Academic service quality management for the quality of State Junior High School (SMP) graduates. This research was conducted on principals, teachers, and students at SMP Negeri 1 Kresek, SMP Negeri 1 Mauk, Kab. Tangerang. This study focuses on management functions which include: Planning (Planning), Actuating, Evaluation (Evaluating), Supporting and Inhibiting Factors, and Efforts to overcome the obstacles. The approach used in this study is a qualitative approach, while the research method used is descriptive analytic method. Data collection techniques in this study are: interviews, observation, and documentation. The conclusions of the research conducted by the researchers are: the implementation of management carried out by the two principals concerning Planning, Actuating, Evaluation, Supporting and Inhibiting Factors, and Efforts to overcome obstacles in SMP Negeri 1 Kresek , SMP Negeri 1 Mauk, Kab. Tangerang has been implemented but not optimally because there are still many elements in the above activities that there is still no synchronization, integration, and simultaneous in accordance with the vision and mission of each school. However, in general the quality management of the principal's academic services has been running quite well in accordance with the conditions of each school as seen from the achievements of the school program implementation as stated below: According to the principal of SMP Negeri 1 Kresek that the implementation of the school program has been achieved ranged from 75-80%, while for SMP Negeri 1 Mauk the achievement of school program implementation reached 80%, Tangerang Regency the achievement of the implementation of school academic service programs reached about 80% which had an impact on the quality of graduates.

Abstract

The quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at the junior high school level is often limited to a rote approach (surface learning), thus less encouraging internalization of values and changes in student behavior. Deep learning offers an alternative approach that focuses on in-depth understanding, reflection, and contextual relevance. However, its implementation is often hampered by poorly integrated management factors. This study aims to investigate how the integration of the learning management function (POAC) with deep learning pedagogy can improve the quality of PAI learning in junior high schools. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study design at SMP Plus Tanjungsari, Sumedang. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal and PAI teachers, participant observation, and document study, then analyzed interactively. The implementation of deep learning integrated with the POAC function has been proven to improve the quality of PAI learning holistically. Participatory planning resulted in a Deep Learning Plan (RPM), effective organization through PAI teams and student differentiation, student-centered implementation with active and contextual methods, and comprehensive evaluation covering cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects. Supporting factors such as the principal's instructional leadership and a flexible curriculum reinforced this success. Improving the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning requires synergy between a deep learning pedagogical approach and a structured management framework. The resulting integrative model can serve as a reference for other schools in implementing meaningful and transformative learning.ABSTRAKMutu pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di tingkat SMP masih sering terbatas pada pendekatan hafalan (surface learning), sehingga kurang mendorong internalisasi nilai dan perubahan perilaku siswa.

Abstract

Background: Academic supervision is a strategic instrument for teacher mentoring and professional development. However, its implementation in private madrasas often faces structural, cultural, and technical constraints, which impact the stagnation of teachers' pedagogical competence improvement. Objectives: This study aims to describe and analyze the management of madrasah supervisors' academic supervision based on the POAC functions (Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling) and its effectiveness in improving the pedagogical competence of teachers in Private Madrasah Tsanawiyah in West Bandung Regency. Methods: The research used a qualitative approach with a multisite case study method in three private MTs. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with 3 supervisors, 9 teachers, and 3 madrasah principals, and documentation studies. Data analysis followed an interactive thematic analysis model. Results: The findings reveal that the four POAC management functions in academic supervision are not yet optimal. Planning is top-down and lacks needs assessment; organizing is constrained by supervisor-madrasah ratios and time; implementation is dominated by brief observations with normative feedback; and evaluation and follow-up are almost non-existent. Consequently, the impact of supervision on improving teacher pedagogical competence is minimal and only visible in administrative aspects. Conclusions: Academic supervision in the research locus experiences decoupling, where formal activities are separated from the substantive goal of teacher development. Reformulation of policies, restructuring of supervisor workloads, strengthening clinical supervision capacity, and transformation of supervision culture towards collaborative-participatory approaches are needed.ABSTRAKLatar Belakang: Supervisi akademik merupakan instrumen strategis dalam pembinaan dan pengembangan profesional guru.

Abstract

The imperative of digital transformation in education requires adaptive and evidence-based institutional governance. This study aims to critically and thoroughly analyze the managerial process of data-based information systems (DBIS) in efforts to improve the quality of education in junior high schools (SMP). Using a qualitative approach with a case study design at SMPN 1 Sukanagara and SMPN 1 Sukaresmi, this study explores the implementation of management functions—planning, organizing, executing, and controlling (POAC)—in a digital context. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the principal, vice principal, operators, and teachers, supported by participatory observation and documentation studies. Data analysis was conducted interactively following the Miles and Huberman model. The results of the study show three main findings. First, the planning and organization of MSIBD in both schools is contextual, with SMPN 1 Sukanagara adopting a pragmatic-adaptive approach while SMPN 1 Sukaresmi implementing a visionary-integrative strategy, both based on participatory needs analysis. Second, the effective implementation of the system transformed administrative work processes to be more efficient and accurate, and became a catalyst for a shift in organizational culture towards data-driven decision making. Third, the dynamic monitoring process, despite facing challenges of digital literacy and infrastructure limitations, was successfully overcome through adaptive strategies that reflected the continuous improvement cycle (PDCA). This study concludes that the success of MSIBD is not only determined by technological sophistication, but also by managerial process maturity, supportive leadership, and the organization's capacity to learn and adapt.
