Abstract

The contextualization of ukhuwah islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood) within the Muslim community has become a crucial issue amid increasing internal fragmentation based on ideology, particularly between Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) and Salafi. In Pasuruan, differences in religious views and social frictions often create tensions, indicating that ukhuwah is not uniformly understood or practiced but shaped by each group’s ideological construction. This study employs a qualitative approach with a sociological perspective and Alfred Schutz’s social phenomenology. Data were collected through passive participant observation, in-depth semi-structured interviews, and documentation studies, then analyzed phenomenologically through the stages of horizontalization, clustering, textural and structural description, and essence formulation. Data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The study aims to: (1) describe the conceptual paradigm of ukhuwah islamiyah as understood by NU and Salafi; (2) explore how ukhuwah islamiyah is practiced in the social life of both groups in Pasuruan; and (3) explain the interpretative differences of ukhuwah islamiyah in building social harmony. The findings reveal that NU embraces an inclusive understanding of ukhuwah within the framework of the trilogy of brotherhood—islamiyah, wataniyah, and bashariyah—emphasizing tolerance, intergroup cooperation, and social harmony. In contrast, Salafi interprets ukhuwah exclusively within the boundaries of shared creed and manhaj, restricting social interaction to those with the same orientation. Field practices show complex dynamics: while cooperation exists in activities such as funeral rites (takziah) and communal work (gotong royong), ideological divides continue to weaken solidarity. These findings highlight the importance of multicultural, dialogical, and spiritual approaches to realizing ukhuwah islamiyah as a universal value that transcends sectarian boundaries and strengthens social harmony.

Abstract

The development of the fintech industry, especially the peer to peer (P2P) lending model, is growing very rapidly in Indonesia. Peer to-Peer (P2P) Lending is a mechanism to raise funds through a platform or fintech company, which is then distributed to business actors in the form of loans. This study aims to analyze the practice of peer to peer (P2P) lending in accordance with the fatwa of DSN-MUI No. 117/DSN-MUI/II/2018 and contemporary scholars. This study uses a type of library research and a normative approach with data collection techniques in the form of documentation, while the validity of the data is tested through source triangulation. The results of this study show that the DSN-MUI Fatwa No. 117/DSN-MUI/II/2018 and the views of contemporary scholars affirm that P2P lending is allowed as long as it is in accordance with sharia principles, free of usury, gharar, and maysir, and uses a valid contract under the supervision of the Sharia Supervisory Board (DPS).

Abstract

Abstract

Generation Z increasingly engage in doom spending driven by global economic uncertainty, diminished confidence in long-term financial security, and the pervasive influence of digital consumer culture. This behavior undermines individual financial stability and threatens family and societal economic resilience. The rising prevalence of doom spending among Generation Z has become a significant concern, particularly regarding family economic resilience. Consequently, this study reconstructs Maqāṣid al-Syarī‘ah fī Ḥifẓ al-Māl as a normative and ethical framework to address impulsive, emotion-based consumption among Generation Z couples in the digital economy. Integrating Islamic ethics, psychological coping theory, and contemporary consumption studies, this research employs a qualitative method with descriptive-analytical design. Findings indicate that doom spending negatively impacts family financial stability, exacerbates emotional stress, and conflicts with core Islamic principles including moderation (wasaṭiyyah), contentment (qanā‘ah), and prohibition of extravagance (tabżīr). The study underscores strengthening family economic resilience through digital financial literacy, open financial communication between couples, integration of Islamic consumption values, productive technology utilization, and community-based financial education. By implementing these strategies, Generation Z couples can achieve balanced financial management, enhance household resilience, and align consumption behavior with ethical and spiritual principles. This research contributes to the broader discourse on integrating Islamic value-based approaches into contemporary financial practices and offers a conceptual framework for sustainable, morally responsible household economic management.

Abstract

This qualitative case study investigates how structured Islamic school–family partnerships strengthen religion-based learning motivation in a Madrasah Ibtidaiyah context. Drawing on Islamic educational philosophy and the School–Family Partnership framework, the study analyzes forms of parental involvement, implementation strategies, and their implications for students’ intrinsic religious motivation. Data were collected through interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis involving 10 teachers, 25 students, and 20 parents. Findings indicate that consistent religious routines at home, value-based role modeling, structured communication with teachers, and participation in school religious programs significantly reinforce students’ discipline, self-regulation, and engagement in Islamic learning. The study contributes theoretically by positioning religious motivation not merely as a behavioral outcome but as an integration of iman, akhlaq, and educational responsibility within a tawhidic framework. Practically, it proposes a context-sensitive model of Islamic school–family collaboration supported by digital communication and parenting modules to ensure sustainability. These findings provide implications for madrasah leadership in institutionalizing structured, value-based parental engagement to strengthen long-term religious learning motivation.

Abstract

This study examines how teacher professional development policies shape administrative intensification, with a particular focus on Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in Indonesia, using Singapore as a comparative policy reference. It aims to analyze how policy architecture configures administrative workload and professional learning. This study employs a qualitative approach using document analysis combined with comparative policy analysis. Data were collected from official national policy documents, including regulations on teacher workload, professional allowances, performance appraisal systems, and career development frameworks. Data analysis was conducted through systematic coding and thematic analysis based on administrative burden theory and policy enactment perspectives. The validity of the analysis was ensured through iterative reading, coding consistency, and triangulation with relevant empirical literature. The findings reveal that in Indonesia, credit-based professional development requirements, layered verification mechanisms, and decentralized governance generate cumulative administrative obligations that extend beyond instructional improvement. For PAI teachers, this condition creates tensions between administrative compliance and value-based pedagogical practices that are not easily captured through standardized documentation. In contrast, Singapore’s integrated governance model embeds professional growth within a coherent system that aligns appraisal, mentoring, and career progression, thereby minimizing fragmented reporting. This study argues that administrative intensification is a structural outcome of policy design rather than merely an implementation issue. By reframing teacher workload as a governance effect, this research contributes a comparative perspective on how accountability systems can be designed to support professional competence development, particularly in value-oriented educational contexts.

Abstract

This study examines Abuya Dimyati’s Sufism as a model of religious moderation and spiritual wisdom in the modern era. The research is motivated by the growing crisis of spirituality, the rise of religious extremism, and the transformation of religious authority in the digital age. Using a qualitative approach with a library research design, this study analyzes primary sources such as Abuya Dimyati’s teachings, sermons, and documented practices, as well as relevant contemporary scholarly literature. Data were analyzed using content analysis and hermeneutic interpretation to uncover the epistemological, ethical, and social dimensions of his Sufism. The findings reveal that Abuya Dimyati’s Sufism is rooted in akhlaqi Sufism, emphasizing the integration of sharia and haqiqa through ethical transformation and spiritual discipline. His teachings embody four core values of religious moderation: rahmah (compassion), tawazun (balance), zuhud (simplicity), and tasamuh (tolerance). These values function as internal mechanisms of ethical regulation, shaping both individual consciousness and social interaction. Furthermore, his Sufism reflects an “embodied spirituality” that integrates spiritual practice with social engagement, contributing to community harmony. This study proposes Sufism as a transformative moderation framework encompassing epistemological, psychological, and socio-practical dimensions. It argues that Abuya Dimyati’s Sufism provides a relevant and integrative response to contemporary challenges, including digital religiosity, polarization, and the crisis of religious authority. The study contributes to the development of Sufism as a contextual and globally relevant paradigm for fostering moderate, inclusive, and humanistic religious life.

Abstract

The rise of doom spending among Generation Z has become a significant concern, particularly in the context of family economic resilience. This study aims to reconstruct the concept of Maqasid al-Shariah fi Hifdz al-Mal (protection of wealth) to address the impulsive and emotion-driven consumption behaviors prevalent among young couples in the digital economy era. Adopting a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design, the research integrates insights from Islamic ethics, psychological coping theory, and contemporary consumption studies. The findings indicate that doom spending undermines family financial stability, increases emotional stress, and conflicts with Islamic principles of moderation (wasatiyyah), contentment (qana’ah), and avoidance of wastefulness (tabdzir). The study emphasizes strategies for fostering family economic resilience, including digital financial literacy, open financial communication between spouses, integration of Islamic consumption values, productive use of technology, and community-based financial education. By applying these strategies, Generation Z couples can achieve balanced financial management, strengthen household resilience, and align their consumption behaviors with both ethical and spiritual principles. This research contributes to the discourse on integrating Islamic value-based approaches in contemporary financial practices, providing a framework for sustainable and morally responsible household economic management. Abstract

The implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile and Rahmatan lil Alamin (P5-PPRA) project at the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah level plays a strategic role in shaping students’ religious moderation character and entrepreneurial skills from an early age. This study was motivated by the low implementation of tolerance values and limited entrepreneurship skills among Islamic elementary students in Gresik city, despite the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This research aims to describe the implementation of P5-PPRA, analyze its contribution to forming religious moderation and entrepreneurship, and identify supporting and inhibiting factors. This qualitative case study used observation, interviews, and documentation techniques involving teachers and students of three Islamic elementary schools in Gresik. The results indicate that project-based programs such as entrepreneurship fairs, interfaith tolerance activities, community collaboration, and contextual learning successfully improved students’ understanding of religious moderation and basic entrepreneurial skills. Supporting factors include institutional policy and community involvement, while obstacles arise from teacher competence and time limitations. The study concludes that P5-PPRA is effective in developing students’ religious moderation and entrepreneurship when implemented collaboratively and supported by adequate human resources.
