Abstract

  This study aims to analyze the role of school committees as strategic partners in improving educational quality at  SDN 151 Sukasenang and SDN 229 Cibaduyut, Bandung City. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving 13 participants, consisting of principals, teachers, school committee members, and parents. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that school committees have performed their functions as advisory, supporting, controlling, and mediating agencies. Effective communication, commitment, and collaboration support their role, while limited participation and resources remain significant challenges in educational improvement efforts.

Abstract

  Adolescence brings substantial emotional dynamics that frequently disrupt students' learning processes and social relationships, particularly in vocational secondary schools. SMK Marga Insan Kamil, an Islamic-based vocational school, has not yet established a formal and structured guidance and counseling (BK) service, even though students face emotional pressure stemming from family conflict, economic hardship, and peer relations. This study aims to analyze the needs for a guidance and counseling program to develop students' emotional intelligence based on Islamic values at SMK Marga Insan Kamil. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through semi-structured interviews with the student affairs coordinator, an Islamic education teacher, and four students, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that students require an accessible, safe, and trustworthy counseling service, since emotional problems have so far been handled incidentally by homeroom teachers, the student affairs unit, and Islamic education teachers without a dedicated counselor. Islamic values already practiced at the school, such as the culture of smiling, greeting, self-regulation through istighfar, and congregational prayer, have proven effective in strengthening students' self-awareness, empathy, and self-regulation, which are core dimensions of emotional intelligence. Based on these findings, five recommended programs are proposed: Islamic-based individual counseling, group counseling, reflective literacy activities, spiritual reinforcement, and teacher mentoring. The study concludes that a structured, Islamic value-based guidance and counseling program is both necessary and feasible to support students' emotional and character development at SMK Marga Insan Kamil. Keywords: guidance and counseling; emotional intelligence; Islamic values; vocational school; needs analysis ABSTRAK Masa remaja menghadirkan dinamika emosional yang signifikan dan kerap mengganggu proses belajar serta relasi sosial siswa, terutama di sekolah menengah kejuruan. SMK Marga Insan Kamil sebagai lembaga pendidikan kejuruan berbasis nilai Islam belum memiliki layanan bimbingan dan konseling (BK) formal yang terstruktur, padahal siswa menghadapi tekanan emosional yang bersumber dari konflik keluarga, kondisi ekonomi, dan relasi pertemanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis kebutuhan program bimbingan dan konseling untuk pengembangan kecerdasan emosional siswa berbasis nilai-nilai Islam di SMK Marga Insan Kamil. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara kepada bidang kesiswaan, guru Pendidikan Agama Islam, dan empat siswa, kemudian dianalisis melalui tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa membutuhkan layanan konseling yang aktif, mudah diakses, dan menjamin rasa aman, karena penanganan persoalan emosional selama ini masih dilakukan secara insidental oleh wali kelas, kesiswaan, dan guru PAI tanpa kehadiran konselor khusus. Nilai-nilai Islam yang telah dipraktikkan di sekolah, seperti budaya senyum, sapa, salam, pengendalian diri melalui istighfar, dan shalat berjamaah, terbukti efektif memperkuat kesadaran diri, empati, dan regulasi emosi siswa sebagai dimensi inti kecerdasan emosional. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dirumuskan lima rekomendasi program, yaitu konseling individual Islami, konseling kelompok, literasi reflektif, penguatan spiritual, dan mentoring guru. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa program bimbingan dan konseling berbasis nilai Islam yang terstruktur layak dan perlu diterapkan untuk mendukung perkembangan emosional serta karakter siswa di SMK Marga Insan Kamil. Abstract

Education is not only oriented toward academic achievement but also toward the development of students' personalities, one of which is through the enhancement of intrapersonal intelligence, including self-awareness, emotional regulation, self-recognition, and independent decision-making. However, many students still experience difficulties in these areas, highlighting the need for effective guidance and counseling (GC) service management. This study aims to describe the management of guidance and counseling services in developing students' intrapersonal intelligence at SMA Mutiara 2 Bandung, focusing on the aspects of planning, organizing, implementation, evaluation, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors affecting its implementation. This study employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive method. Data are collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving guidance and counseling teachers, the Vice Principal for Student Affairs, and students. The data are analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data trustworthiness is ensured through triangulation and member checking. The expected outcome of this study is a comprehensive description of the implementation of guidance and counseling service management in supporting the development of students' intrapersonal intelligence, including the factors influencing its effectiveness. This study is expected to contribute theoretically to the development of guidance and counseling management and provide practical recommendations for schools to improve the quality of guidance and counseling services in optimizing students' personal development.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the moral intelligence of students and the role of guidance and counseling in developing it among eleventh-grade students of the Agribusiness Crop Production Program (AT-2) at SMK Negeri 1 Cugenang. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire covering seven moral intelligence indicators, namely empathy, conscience, self-control, respect, responsibility, honesty, and justice, supported by observation and documentation. Twenty-four students took part as respondents, and one representative response was analyzed in depth to illustrate the descriptive qualitative pattern found among the participants. The results show that the students' overall moral intelligence falls into the high category, with a mean score of 3.90; conscience was the strongest indicator (5.00), while self-control was the weakest (3.33). The perceived role of guidance and counseling in developing moral intelligence falls into the moderate category, with a mean score of 3.17, indicating that counseling services, although present, have not been fully optimized. The study recommends strengthening group guidance and individual counseling that specifically target self-control, consistency in responsibility, and the courage to practice honesty in challenging situations.

Abstract

This study examines how schools strategically manage culture—beyond routine practices—to internalize noble values and consistently enhance the quality of learning amid modern challenges. Using a descriptive qualitative approach (observation, in-depth interviews, documentation), it analyzes planning, implementation, and evaluation of school culture grounded in Achmad Sanusi’s six-dimensional value system (theological, ethical-legal, aesthetic, logical-rational, physical-physiological, and teleological). Findings show that effective culture management makes this value system a reference for individual and organizational attitudes, mindsets, and actions: theological values foster spiritual motivation; ethical-legal values build discipline and confidence; logical-rational and teleological values improve management quality, work performance, school effectiveness, and accountability. The study concludes that school culture management, rooted in a comprehensive value foundation, creates a conducive environment for the sustainable realization of the educational vision and mission.
