Abstract

This study aims to describe the types of errors made by students in solving questions of absolute value and scaffolding based on the Newman error analysis stage. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects are students of class X MA Miftahul Huda Kepanjen. Sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data obtained from the results of student tests, interviews and the scaffolding process. Based on the results of the study there were 81.25% reading errors, while transformation errors were 37.5%, and process skills were 28.13%. From this research it can be concluded that the types of mistakes made by students are reading inaccuracies, comprehension errors, transformation errors, process skill errors and encoding errors. While the form of scaffolding conducted is explaining, reviewing, restructuring and developing conceptual thinking

Abstract

Etnomatematika merupakan kajian matematika dalam perspektif budaya masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap etnomatematika pada masyarakat Karesidenan Banyumas, khususnya Cilacap. Metode Penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode etnografi. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah model triangulasi yang terdiri dari reduksi data, penyajian dan pengambilan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan matematika digunakan oleh masyarakat ketika mereka membuat makanan tradisional. Keunikannya adalah masyarakat tidak mengenali bentuk secara matematis. Jika terkait dengan matematika sekolah terkait dengan geometri, dimana pola pembentukannya menghasilkan bidang matematika pada bangun datar yang sangat matematis.Kata kunci: etnomatematika, geometri, makanan tradisional

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa pembelajaran daring persamaan garis lurus berbantuan media geogebra melalui google site. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data penelitian diperoleh berdasarkan respon pembelajaran siswa pada setiap pertemuan, wawancara dengan guru, dan angket refleksi pada akhir pertemuan. Penelitian dilakukan di kelas 8B MTsN 1 Kota Malang dengan 32 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa yang memberikan respon dengan baik, telah melalui tahap pemberian rangsang, pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, pengujidan, dan pemberikan kesimpulan dengan baik. Sementara siswa yang memberikan respon kurang memuaskan telah melakukan tahap pemberian rangsang dan pengambilan kesimpulan dengan baik, namun tidak melakukan tahap menyatakan masalah, mengumpulkan data, dan pengolahan data. Selain itu siswa yang memberikan respon dengan baik pada pertemuan pertama sebanyak 31%, pada pertemuan kedua 63%, pada pertemuan ketiga 22%, dan pada pertemuan keempat 9%. Penurunan respon siswa dipengaruhi oleh tingkat stres dan banyaknya tugas sebesar 57%, serta ketidakmampuan siswa mengoperasikan geogebra dengan baik 31%.

Abstract

AbstrakPada era 4.0 dan abad ke-21 kegiatan pembelajaran membutuhkan keterampilan berpikir kritis dan penyelesaian masalah untuk mencapai tujuan yang diinginkan. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses berpikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan soal dengan informasi yang kontradiksi. Partisipan pada penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XII MA Unggulan Mamba’ul Huda. Instrumen pada penelitian ini menggunakan soal non rutin dengan informasi yang kontradiksi dan pedoman wawancara mendalam. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan proses berpikir siswa yang dapat menyelesaiakan soal dengan informasi yang kontradiksi yaitu dengan mengikuti langkah-langkah sebagai berikut: (1) understanding the problem (2) devising the plan (3) carrying the plan, dan (4) looking back. Dan proses berpikir siswa yang tidak dapat menyelesaikan soal dengan informasi yang kontradiksi melakukan langkah (1) understanding the problem dan (2) devising the plan. Pada langkah (3) carrying the plan dilaksanakan tetapi tidak sempurna dan untuk langkah (4) looking back tidak dilakukan.Kata kunci: proses berpikir; penyelesaian masalah; soal dengan informasi yang kontradiksi

Abstract

This study aims to describe the internal cognitive conflicts that occur to students when they were solving mathematics problems. There were two participants in this research. They were 7th grade students from SMPN 1 Malang. The first participant was a student who has experienced internal cognitive conflicts and has capability to resolve it as well as the mathematics problems. Meanwhile, the second participant was a student who has experienced internal cognitive conflict but cannot resolve that conflict and also the mathematics problems. This research was used descriptive qualitative. The data of this study was gathered from students’ test on cognitive conflict and interview which was adapted from Newman's interview procedure. It was found that, the students who are able to find a relationship between the ratio of the number of workers and the number of chairs produced in a day, have capability to resolve their cognitive conflicts so that it brings them to the right problem solving. Meanwhile, the students that fail to build a relationship between the comparison concepts with mathematics problems and fail to find the relation between the numbers of people with the number of chairs in one day can not resolve the cognitive conflict so that they solve the problems in the wrong ways.

Abstract

Analysis Of Students’ Error In Solving Problems Of An Open Ended Based On The Newman Theory. Abstract is The purpose of this research is to describe the types of students’ errors and find out the number of errors committed by students on each type of error in resolving the open ended problems. Classify the type of error based on Newman theory, which are error reading, understanding, transformation, process skills, and error writing answers. The subject of this research is from 30 students of VIII grade of SMPN 24 Malang. This research using data test collection techniques which is an open ended question on statistical material and interviews to obtain additional data. Data analysis was done by reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The result of the analysis obtained that the students’ error are reading errors, errors of understanding, transformation’s errors, process skills’ errors, and write response’s errorsPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan tipe-tipe kesalahan siswa dan mengetahui banyaknya kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa pada tiap tipe kesalahan dalam menyelesaikan masaalah open ended. Pengklasifikasian tipe kesalahan berdasarkan teori Newman, yaitu kesalahan membaca, memahami, transformasi, keterampilan proses, dan kesalahan penulisan jawaban. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 24 Malang yang berjumlah 30 orang. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data berupa tes yaitu soal open ended pada materi statistika dan wawancara untuk memperoleh data tambahan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan reduksi, penyajian, dan penyimpulan. Hasil analisis didapatkan bahwa kesalahan yang dilakukan siswa adalah kesalahan membaca, kesalahan memahami, kesalahan transformasi, kesalahan keterampilan proses, dan kesalahan penulisan jawaban.

Abstract

[Title: The Students' Understanding of Equal Sign in Completing Mathematics Tasks]. This study aims to describe the student's understanding of the equal sign to solve mathematical tasks. This study was included in the qualitative descriptive study. In this study, the data collected is the data of student’s work and verbal data (the interview). The subjects were six students of 7th class of MTs Attariqie Malang 2014/2015 (Junior High School), with details of two high-ability students, two students capable of being, and two low-ability students. Students' understanding of the equal sign examined further by providing tests and interviews in six research subjects. Interviews were conducted individually after the students work on the problems individually. The mathematical task load arithmetic and algebra problems. Based on the results of the study, all subjects were able to understand the equal sign as operational and the equal sign as a substitution. For equal sign as the basic relational, only high-ability students were able to understand it. Understanding of medium and low student capable entrenched in the operational pattern that is an equal sign as operational cause confusion to understanding equal sign as the basic relational, eg, 14+11=25+8 where students only pay attention to the results of operations that 14 plus 11 is 25 without notice relation of the addition of 8.

Abstract

Pandemi covid-19 telah memaksa SMA Negeri 5 Pamekasan untuk menyesuaikan pola pembelajaran, separuh kelas mengikuti pembelajaran tatap muka di sekolah dan separuhnya lagi mengikuti pembelajaran daring dari rumah, yang disebut  split clas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pembelajaran langsung berbantuan video interaktif turunan yang dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam 2 siklus, masing-masing siklus berisi tahap persiapan, pelaksanaan, observasi dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 26 peserta didik kelas XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 5 Pamekasan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran langsung berbantuan video interaktif turunan yang meningkatkan hasil belajar materi turunan dilakukan dengan langkah: (1) Menyampaikan tujuan dan mempersiapkan peserta didik  (2) Mendemonstrasikan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dengan video pembelajaran interaktif turunan (3) Membimbing pelatihan dengan LKPD terbimbing (4) Mengecek pemahaman dan memberikan umpan balik dan (5) Memberikan kesempatan untuk pelatihan lanjutan dan penerapan. Dari penerapan pembelajaran langsung berbantuan video pembelajaran turunan, persentase ketuntasan belajar peserta didik mengalami peningkatan dari siklus 1 ke siklus 2 dari 65,2% menjadi 86,9 % , 2 sedangkan persentase hasil observasi ketercapaian pelaksanaan pembelajaran mengalami peningkatan sebesar 15% dengan kriteria pada masing-masing siklus bernilai sangat baik

Abstract

Mathematical thinking is necessary in mathematics learning especially in college level. One of activities in undergraduate mathematics learning is proving. This article describes students' thinking process who unable to construct mathematical formal proof. The description uses APOS Theory to explore students' mental mechanism and students' mental structure while they do proving. This research is qualitative research that conducted on students majored in mathematics education in public university in Banten province, Indonesia. Data was obtained through asking students to solve proving-task using think-aloud and then following by interview based task. Results show that the students could not construct a formal proof because they unable to appear encapsulation process. They merely enable to think interiorization and coordination. Based on the results, some suitable learning activities should designed to support the construction of these mental mechanism.

Abstract

This study describes spatial reasoning of senior high school students in solving geometrical transformation problems. Spatial reasoning consists of three aspects: spatial visualization, mental rotation, and spatial orientation. The approach that is used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data resource is the test result of reflection, translation, and rotation problems then continued by interview. Collecting data process involves 35 students. They are grouped to three spatial reasoning aspects then selected one respondent to be the most dominant of each aspect. The results of this study are: (1) the students with spatial visualization aspect used drawing strategy and non-spatial strategy in solving geometrical transformation problems. She transformed every vertex of the object and drew assistance lines which connect every vertex of the object to center point; (2) the students with mental rotation aspect used holistic and analytic strategies in solving geometrical transformation problems. Using holistic strategy means imagining the whole of transformational objects to solve easy problems. While using analytic strategy means transforming some components of objects to solve hard problems; (3) the students with spatial orientation didn’t involve mental imagery and she only could determine the position and orientation of the object in solving geometrical transformation problems
