Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)-based Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in improving senior high school students’ scientific literacy. This study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pre-test and post-test nonequivalent control group design and was conducted at SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan. The research involved two classes consisting of 35 students each: an experimental class taught using STEM-based PjBL and a control class taught using conventional learning. Scientific literacy was measured using an essay test, while students’ attitudes toward science were assessed through a questionnaire. The results of the independent samples t-test showed no significant difference in students’ initial abilities (sig. = 0.064 > 0.05). However, the post-test results indicated a significant difference between the two groups (sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), with the experimental class achieving a higher mean score. In addition, students’ attitudes toward science in the experimental class were categorized as good to very good. These findings indicate that STEM-based Project-Based Learning is effective in enhancing students’ scientific literacy.

Abstract

Assessment activities are crucial to measuring learning success in the school system. Assessment can be used to improve education where teachers incorporate Islamic beliefs. This study explains how to create a religiously-integrated mathematical communication skills test. This is ADDIE model development research. The research was tested at a Tulungagung Madrasah Aliyah. The data-gathering method solves ten inverse function math questions using a description test. Data analysis uses strength, reliability, validity, and difficulty. This study found that the social essay exam instrument analyses high school students' mathematics communication skills and Islamic beliefs, with 7 items valid and reliable and 3 items removed. This study found that the Islamic integrated mathematical communication ability test is valid, reliable, discriminatory, and somewhat demanding.

Abstract

Mathematics is a supporting science for other branches of science as a medium for communicating mathematical problem solving. One of the abilities that must be possessed by students is the ability to communicate in trigonometry material. In this research, only 36.7% of students correctly identified the transformation of trigonometric function graphs in question number 9. However, there were some students whose explanations were not precise because their understanding of the material was not correct. The purpose of this study is to analyze the mathematical communication skills of grade X MA students in the material of trigonometric function graphs. In this research, a qualitative research type with a descriptive approach is used. The test of mathematical communication ability in writing is in the form of a test that is done independently and tested on 6 students with a group of 2 high ability students, 2 medium ability students, and 2 ability students with the need for further guidance. While the test of mathematical communication skills orally answered together through the interview method. The significance of this research is the students become more focused in learning because students are instructed to do activities by shifting the slider so that the intended graph is formed according to the instructions of the given problem. The conclusion drawn from the results of the research conducted is that mathematical communication in the material of trigonometric function graphs is relatively low, both in writing and orally. This is based on the percentage in the analysis test of mathematical communication skills in writing where students answered 10 out of 18 items had below 50% incorrect written response rates, compared to 8 other items that students could answer correctly with a score above 50%, while in the oral mathematical communication ability analysis test there are still misconceptions in every question asked. This is based on this research data that some students still answer the items incorrectly.

Abstract

Multicultural education is an alternative to build togetherness in the diversity of society, and multiculturalism requires the accommodation of minority rights, both cultural and social. This research focuses on constructing a multicultural understanding of religious sects disseminated through religious sects. The research aims to describe the multicultural education of religious understanding that aims to build social harmony amid the diversity of religious sects in Sana Daja village. This research approach uses qualitative ethnography type. The data sources in this research are leaders of religious organizations, heads of religious activities, kyai, lora, and people who know the changes in interaction between religious sects in the research location. The results showed that some religious groups in the village of Sana Daja disseminate multiculturalism through religious activities such as recitation, traditions, or community social activities; religious sects become instruments of social power to instill multicultural awareness. The construction of multicultural education between religious views begins with recategorization and desacralization, explaining the various interpretations of fiqh, emphasizing the substance and purpose of religious activities, and placing religious traditions as part of ijtihad products in the practical realm. This multicultural awareness construction can slowly open the isolation of minority religious groups, build communication between religious groups that have been constrained due to conflict, and foster an attitude of tolerance so that awareness is born to build ukhuwah Islamiyah in society.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a mathematics learning for social arithmetic material and see student responses to the mathematics learning web for social arithmetic material. The research method used is and Development (R & D) which starts from determining potential problems, data collection, product design, design validation, design revisions, product trials, and product revisions. The subjects in this study were VII grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah 1 Malang and 6 selected students with categories 2 high, 2 medium, and 2 low from the results of social arithmetic tests that had been done. The results showed that: 1) the learning web that had been developed gets a score of 3.55 which means the learning web is valid; 2) student responses to the learning web gained a score 3.65 (high).

Abstract

This community service program aims to implement solar panel technology to support household electricity needs, local Papuan craft production, agricultural irrigation, corn processing into animal feed, and strengthening the marketing of Duwin Village community products. The activity used a pilot project approach combined with Participatory Rural Appraisal and Rapid Rural Appraisal. Participants consisted of 20 members of the craft group and 20 members of the agricultural group. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and pre-test and post-test questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively. The results showed the strongest increase in the application of solar panels for household needs and craft production, with a score increase of 407 points or 92.7% and an average gain of 2.04. Social media training, product arrangement, understanding market trends, and the use of container booths increased the score by 446 points or 89.6%, with an average gain of 2.03. The implementation of solar water pumps and corn grinding machines increased the score by 349 points or 69.8%, with an average gain of 1.74.

Abstract

The ability to communicate mathematical ideas orally is crucial for studying mathematics. One way to measure oral communication skills is by presenting an open-ended problem to students. This study aims to illustrate how students solve open-ended issues using oral mathematical communication skills. The methodology is a qualitative descriptive study; the subject of the research is grade VIII junior high school students with low, medium, and high levels of mathematical ability to communicate when working on open-ended problems. From this study, students who have a low level of communication ability have not met all the indicators optimally, because the understanding of symbols and their use is still weak. Students in the medium level that satisfy the markers of mathematical communication, because the notation used is appropriate and consistent and students can provide concise, clear, and thorough explanations. Students with high categories meet all indicators very well, because they are able to use complete and accurate mathematical symbol and students can provide concise, clear, and reflective explanations. Students in lower categories' have not fully satisfied all of the requirements for mathematical communication. The medium-level pupils satisfy the requirements for mathematical communication. Students with high categories meet all mathematical communication indicators very well.

Abstract

Integrasi teknologi digital yang semakin pesat dalam pembelajaran matematika telah mengubah cara siswa mengakses, memproses, dan menginternalisasi pengetahuan konseptual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh literasi digital dan strategi kognitif terhadap pemahaman konseptual siswa di SMP Islam Kota Denpasar. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kuantitatif eksplanatori dengan melibatkan 93 siswa kelas VIII yang dipilih menggunakan rumus Slovin dari total populasi sebanyak 120 siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui instrumen yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, meliputi angket literasi digital, angket strategi kognitif, serta tes pemahaman konseptual. Data dianalisis menggunakan regresi linear berganda setelah memenuhi seluruh asumsi klasik, yaitu normalitas, linearitas, multikolinearitas, dan heteroskedastisitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa seluruh instrumen penelitian dinyatakan valid dan reliabel, serta model regresi memenuhi persyaratan statistik yang ditetapkan. Secara parsial, literasi digital berpengaruh signifikan terhadap pemahaman konseptual (t = 5,832; p = 0,000), dan strategi kognitif juga berpengaruh signifikan (t = 5,112; p = 0,000). Secara simultan, kedua variabel tersebut memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap pemahaman konseptual, yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai F sebesar 56,214 (p = 0,000). Nilai koefisien determinasi (R² = 0,603) menunjukkan bahwa 60,3% variasi pemahaman konseptual dapat dijelaskan oleh literasi digital dan strategi kognitif. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya kompetensi digital dan pemrosesan kognitif tingkat tinggi dalam memperkuat penguasaan konsep matematika siswa

Abstract

Urban families in metropolitan contexts increasingly face challenges related to limited parental supervision, time constraints, children's social environments, and the need for schools that can provide both academic learning and character formation. In response to these conditions, Islamic hybrid boarding schools have emerged as an educational innovation that integrates regular schooling, dormitory-based supervision, Islamic character mentoring, and more flexible family involvement. This study examines student behavior in an Islamic hybrid boarding school environment and analyzes its relationship with parental satisfaction. A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design was employed, involving 12 parents of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Jakarta selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were collected using a structured questionnaire measuring student behavior and parental satisfaction on a four-point Likert scale, while qualitative data were obtained through semi-structured interviews, observations, and field notes to enrich the interpretation of statistical findings. Data were analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, descriptive statistics, and simple linear regression tests (SPSS version 30). The results demonstrate that the instrument was highly reliable (Cronbach's α = 0.903), and that student behavior jointly explained 91.7% of the variance in parental satisfaction (F = 29.374, p < 0.001). Academic engagement, socio-emotional behavior, and personal behavior each contributed strongly to parental satisfaction, with individual R² values of 0.887, 0.878, and 0.873, respectively. These findings indicate that parents evaluate Islamic hybrid boarding school quality primarily through visible behavioral transformation in their children, including academic discipline, independence, responsibility, and religiosity. The study implies that boarding-based Islamic schools should strengthen systematic behavioral monitoring and parent–school communication as core components of educational quality assurance and institutional sustainability.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in elementary school end-of-semester assessment items and examines the design characteristics of items classified as higher-order tasks. A quantitative descriptive design supported by qualitative document analysis was employed. Data consisted of 240 assessment items collected from 12 elementary school teachers in Jakarta across four core subjects: Indonesian Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Each item was coded using the revised Bloom's taxonomy and grouped into lower-order thinking skills (C1–C3) and higher-order thinking skills (C4–C6). The classification rubric was validated by assessment specialists, and coding was conducted by independent raters through calibration, independent coding, and consensus procedures. The findings reveal that assessment items were strongly dominated by lower-order thinking skills, representing 72.5% of total items, while only 27.5% were classified as higher-order thinking items. Within the HOTS category, analyzing (C4) was the most frequent cognitive level (45.5%), followed by evaluating (C5, 36.4%), whereas creating (C6) appeared only marginally (18.1%). The distribution also varied across subjects, with Indonesian Language and Science showing higher proportions of HOTS items than Mathematics and Social Studies. Qualitative analysis indicates that most HOTS items were presented as open-ended or short-answer tasks embedded in everyday contexts, but the use of visual, numerical, graph-based, and data-rich stimuli remained limited. The study concludes that elementary assessment practices have not fully translated the higher-order thinking orientation of contemporary curricula into summative test design. Implications emphasize that teacher professional development should move beyond general curriculum socialization toward sustained assessment-literacy training, collaborative item review, use of diverse stimuli, and school-based supervision.
