Abstract

This study aims to see the extent to which visual media is effective in supporting Islamic da'wah activities through Islamic Religious Education (PAI) tutorials at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI). This is because visual media is currently an important part of educational and da'wah communication, especially among the digital generation who are more responsive to visual information than conventional approaches. The approach used is a mixed method, namely a combination of quantitative methods with data collection through questionnaires and qualitative methods through interviews and observations. The results of the study show that visual media such as learning videos, social media content, and da'wah animations play a significant role in increasing students' understanding and acceptance of religious material. Digital platforms such as TikTok are popular media used by students to access da'wah content. The main factors that influence the effectiveness of visual media are the quality of the design and appearance of the media and the relevance of the content to the da'wah material. These findings indicate that visual media not only facilitate the delivery of da'wah messages, but also contribute to shaping students' religious attitudes. This study provides recommendations for the development of more contextual and communicative da'wah media to improve the quality of PAI learning in higher education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought changes in communication and information dissemination, including in Islamic preaching (dakwah). TikTok, as a short-video-based platform, has become one of the media used by preachers to convey Islamic messages in an engaging and interactive manner. This study aims to analyze the role of TikTok in the dissemination of Islamic preaching, assess its effectiveness, and identify the challenges and opportunities in its use. The research employs a quantitative approach by distributing questionnaires to respondents who actively use TikTok to access Islamic preaching content. The collected data is analyzed using pie chart diagram techniques to observe audience engagement patterns with Islamic preaching content on TikTok. The findings indicate that TikTok is highly effective in reaching a broader audience, especially the younger generation. However, challenges such as the ever-changing platform algorithm and potential misuse of features exist. The implication of this study is the need for a more adaptive and innovative preaching strategy to ensure optimal dissemination of Islamic messages. Future research is recommended to further explore audience engagement patterns and the long-term impact of digital preaching on social media.

Abstract

Bullying cases that occur among students in Indonesia today have become a problem that has become mainstream. Various official data information from the government reinforces this problem. This article aims to explore from the side of subjects who should play a preventive role in suppressing bullying cases among students as a form of their social competence responsibility. Phenomenological design was chosen to explore the experiences of 18 PAI teachers in elementary and junior high schools in providing positive affirmation to students. Two dimensions of positive affirmation were explored, namely self-acceptance and affirmation to prevent bullying through a closed questionnaire and then inductively content analyzed. The results of the study found that the involvement of the integration approach of spiritual values colored the positive affirmations given by PAI Teachers to encourage students to become individuals who are self-accepting, honest, positive, independent, and respectful of differences, strong mentality, self-confidence, and a safe school environment from bullying. This finding has implications and contributes to the importance of optimizing the role of subjects who have the opportunity to work preventively as part of their professionalism to reduce cases of bullying among students.

Abstract

Facts show memorizing the Qur’an is difficult, especially considering contemporary man’s busyness. The memorizers of the Qur’an admit that they have difficulty finding time to repeat (murâja’ah) the memorizations they have consistently. This study tries to reveal the contribution of the T.E.S. method, a method of memorizing the Qur’an discovered by Ustadz Jemmi Gumilar ST., in improving the memorization of the Qur’an. Using a qualitative approach and descriptive method, this study shows that the T.E.S. method has positively contributed to improving the quality and quantity of memorization of the Qur’an of the tahfîzh participants. Many beneficiaries and recognition of the training participants for the effectiveness of the T.E.S. method prove this. Theoretically, the success of the T.E.S. method lies in time management and discipline or consistency in reading the Qur’an, memorizing, and repeating memorization.

Abstract

Computational research on the Qurʾan remains centred on the sound and script of the text, while the learning of meaning (the domain of tafsīr) has attracted far less attention. This review maps the peer-reviewed evidence on artificial intelligence (AI)-based models for learning Tafsīr. Following the Arksey and OʾMalley framework and reporting against PRISMA-ScR, 240 Scopus-indexed records (2015–2026) were screened in a two-stage, dual-pass process. Eligible studies combined an AI component, a Qurʾanic-meaning object, and a learning component; nine were included and charted against five research questions. Eight of nine studies appeared in 2025–2026 and seven originated in Southeast and South Asia. Across three technology clusters, they divide into learning-tested studies (n = 2), learner-facing systems (n = 5), and technical systems with learning relevance (n = 2). Only the first group measured learning outcomes, neither with a control group; the rest reported system, usability, content-quality, or perception results. Concerns about absent sanad, unreliable citation, and mishandled classical Arabic recurred across independent studies. The review searched a single database in English only; 11 of 37 reports sought were unretrievable; and no critical appraisal was undertaken. The findings map an evidence base rather than warrant effectiveness claims or support deployment decisions. Within the Scopus-indexed English-language literature, this appears to be the first review isolating meaning-oriented AI in Qurʾanic education. It identifies a technical–pedagogical disconnect and argues that interpretive authority is an emerging design requirement indicated by the mapped literature, proposing an agenda uniting source-grounded architectures, explicit tafsīr pedagogy, and sanad-aware governance.
