Abstract

The development of information technology has given birth to an innovation in the financial system, namely digital money (cryptocurrency). Conventional economics sees digital money as a tool to improve efficiency, financial access and economic growth. However, there are concerns regarding financial stability, regulation, and potential abuse. On the other hand, Islamic economics has different principles. expand_more Digital money must be sharia-compliant, such as the prohibition of riba, gharar, and maysir. This poses its own challenges in adopting digital money in the Islamic economic framework. This study aims to explore and analyze the position and role of digital money in the economy from Islamic and conventional macroeconomic perspectives, and identify its implications for the global economy. It is hoped that this research can provide insights into the integration of digital money in different economic systems and how to utilize this technology to achieve more inclusive and sustainable economic goals.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the key determinants of persuasive communication strategies employed by resellers to enhance product sales and brand awareness of the Make Over brand in Medan City. This qualitative study adopts a descriptive approach, collecting data through interviews and documentation involving three key informants from May to September 2024. The findings reveal that effective persuasive communication is achieved through a strong connection between resellers and the brand, an understanding of consumer motivations, and strategic communication methods. Resellers utilize a mix of emotional and rational appeals, tailoring their messages to meet consumer needs. Face-to-face interactions play a vital role in building trust and credibility, while a combination of online and offline channels, including consumer testimonials, strengthens their marketing efforts. This study’s novelty lies in exploring how resellers leverage persuasive communication strategies to boost sales and elevate brand presence, specifically in the context of the Make Over brand in Medan City.

Abstract

Indonesia, known as the country with the largest Muslim population, holds significant potential for the development of the Islamic finance industry, particularly in the sectors of Islamic insurance and Islamic investment. The positive growth of this industry is reflected in the increasing assets, premiums, and investment returns from year to year. However, the contribution of this sector to national economic growth remains relatively low. This study aims to analyze the extent to which the growth of Islamic insurance and Islamic insurance investments affect Indonesia’s economic growth. The research method employed is a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis, with quarterly time series data from 2016 to 2023. Secondary data obtained from OJK and BPS were analyzed to measure the contribution of the Islamic financial sector to Indonesia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The findings reveal that, simultaneously, Islamic insurance assets and investments have a significant impact on economic growth. Partially, the growth of Islamic insurance assets has a significant positive effect, while Islamic insurance investments show a significant negative effect. The coefficient of determination of 82.3% indicates that the two independent variables are able to explain most of the variation in national economic growth. These findings carry strategic implications, suggesting that although Islamic insurance has great potential as a driver of development, the optimization of its investment allocation toward productive sectors needs to be strengthened to foster inclusive and consistent economic growth.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of crowdfunding, impact investing, zakat, and waqf as alternative financing in supporting sustainable development in Indonesia. The research method used is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach based on secondary data from literature and empirical reports. The results show that crowdfunding mobilizes community funds for environmental projects such as mangrove conservation in Kalimantan, significantly reducing carbon emissions. Impact investing supports strategic sectors like Islamic fintech and affordable housing, creating both social and financial impact. Zakat contributes to improved welfare through skills training and healthcare services, while waqf supports the development of sustainable social infrastructure. However, the management of zakat and waqf faces challenges in transparency and public participation. This study bridges the literature gap with empirical evidence highlighting the effectiveness of alternative financing in sustainable development. The conclusion emphasizes the need for a strategic integration of alternative financing to accelerate the achievement of sustainable development goals in an inclusive manner.
