Abstract

The village fund is the government's effort to reduce poverty in villages in Indonesia, including in North Maluku. From the perspective of development funding, village funds play a major role in improving the quality of villages in North Maluku. But in fact, the poverty rate in North Maluku has actually increased. Based on these facts, this paper seeks to explain how the effectiveness of village funds is to reduce poverty and improve community welfare. To answer this problem, a qualitative research approach was carried out by the method of collecting in-depth interview data and focus group discussions with the village head, BPD and village communities.By conducting in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, this study found that village funds in Beringin Jaya and Akeguraci Villages in Tidore Kepulauan District and Ake Jailolo Village and Bobane Village, West Halmahera District, North Maluku, were able to improve the status of villages from disadvantaged to developing villages, but these changes are not followed by an increase in welfare (Falah). This is because village fund programs are more focused on infrastructure development but have not been able to meet economic and social aspects of life, such as providing life skills, enhancing harmony, and independence. The main problem is that human resources are still low both in terms of education level and quality of expertise so that village funds are managed as is.This study recommends that village funds are effective in reducing poverty, the village government needs to prepare a village development blueprint (renstra) in the next 5 years with clear indicators based on village achievements and the amount of village funds received. Village governments also need to send village fund managers to attend training on planning and reportingvillage financialKeywords: village funds, index, empowerment, Falah, North Maluku

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perception of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) towards sharia insurance as an effort to mitigate business risks. This study was conducted at Sukaramai Market in Medan using a qualitative approach. The data was collected through in-depth interviews with MSME actors to understand the extent of their knowledge, understanding, and interest in sharia insurance products. The results of the study show that of a number of MSME actors interviewed, only five people have participated in sharia insurance. Sharia insurance participants generally have a better understanding of the benefits of business protection compared to those who do not follow insurance. The main factors that encourage participation in sharia insurance are the principle of halal, protection of businesses from unexpected risks, and the existence of a sense of fairness in the profit-sharing system. However, the majority of MSME actors who have not participated in sharia insurance admit that they do not understand the concept and benefits, and feel that there are financial limitations in paying premiums. This study recommends increasing socialization and education about sharia insurance so that more MSME actors are aware of the importance of business protection through this mechanism. The majority of MSME actors have a limited understanding of the concept of sharia insurance, even though they are aware of the importance of protecting against business risks.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand and analyze the perception of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the Simpang Limun Medan Market towards BPJS Employment as a form of social security. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research, where the data must be in the form of descriptive information with theories developed based on the data obtained. This research was carried out at the Simpang Limun Market in Medan. There are 350 MSME actors, the author selected 13 informants of MSME actors to be interviewed. Of these 13 informants, only 4 people are members of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Data collection was carried out by observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews.  The data analysis method used in this study is the Miles and Huberman model, which is based on data reduction, namely summarizing, focusing on important aspects, selecting relevant data, and simplifying so that it affects conclusions and verification. The data validity technique is used triangulation by comparing various sources of information. The results of the study show that Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises in the Simpang Limun Market still have low awareness of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan. Observations in the field show that most MSME actors in Pasar Simpang Limun do not have adequate social security protection, which makes them vulnerable to social and economic risks. Lack of information, cost constraints, and complicated registration procedures are the main factors that hinder their participation in this social security program. In addition, limited access to BPJS offices and negative experiences in filing claims also worsened their perception of the benefits of this program. There needs to be a more effective effort to increase awareness and involvement of MSME actors in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.

Abstract

The growing volatility of global exchange rates presents significant risks for emerging economies, particularly those heavily reliant on foreign-denominated debt, such as Indonesia. Conventional hedging instruments, while mitigating currency risk, often conflict with Islamic financial principles due to elements of riba (interest), gharar (uncertainty), and maisir (speculation). This study proposes a Shariah-compliant hedging framework grounded in Maqasid al-Shariah to offer an ethical and sustainable alternative to conventional risk management tools. Through simulation modeling, the study explores the potential of Islamic forward contracts and cross-currency swaps in strengthening external debt resilience while adhering to Islamic principles. The research anticipates that Maqasid al-Shariah will significantly drive the adoption of Islamic hedging mechanisms, enhancing financial stability in both local and international contexts. Moreover, Shariah-compliant instruments are expected to mediate the relationship between ethical objectives and exchange rate stability, offering dual benefits of compliance and economic resilience. By addressing the intersection of Islamic finance, global economic risk, and sustainable development, this study provides theoretical contributions and practical policy recommendations. The findings aim to support regulators, financial institutions, and international stakeholders in promoting Shariah-based financial innovation as a critical component of global financial stability in the face of ongoing economic uncertainties.

Abstract

The development of information technology has given birth to an innovation in the financial system, namely digital money (cryptocurrency). Conventional economics sees digital money as a tool to improve efficiency, financial access and economic growth. However, there are concerns regarding financial stability, regulation, and potential abuse. On the other hand, Islamic economics has different principles. expand_more Digital money must be sharia-compliant, such as the prohibition of riba, gharar, and maysir. This poses its own challenges in adopting digital money in the Islamic economic framework. This study aims to explore and analyze the position and role of digital money in the economy from Islamic and conventional macroeconomic perspectives, and identify its implications for the global economy. It is hoped that this research can provide insights into the integration of digital money in different economic systems and how to utilize this technology to achieve more inclusive and sustainable economic goals.

Abstract

Islamic finance is a global phenomenon that has penetrated various countries, both Muslim-majority countries and non-Muslim-majority countries. The inclusive character of Islamic finance makes it very possible for it to be accepted in various regions. This paper focuses on three countries in Southeast Asia, namely Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. The aim of this writing is to understand the latest developments in Islamic finance in these three countries from inclusive financial perspective. This community service paper approach uses literature study. The paper results show that Islamic finance in Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand shows different degrees. Malaysia can be said to be a leader in the Islamic finance sector not only in Asia but also at the world level. Indonesia shows a strong target to become the world's halal center. Meanwhile, Thailand also does not want to be left behind, especially developing Islamic social finance apart from focusing on the halal tourism industry.
