Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat keterkaitan Bahasa dan pembelajaran sastra melalui pendekatan linguistic fungsional sistemik. Bahasa yang digunakan dalam karya sastra yang dianalisis dan dipelajari tersebut apakah dapat dikaji dengan baik melalui pendekatan LFS. Selain itu, melalui penelitian ini pula penulis ingin mengungkap contoh-contoh karya sastra yang telah berhasil dikaji melalui pendekatan LFS. Untuk mengungkap hal tersebut, penulis menggunakan kajian Pustaka. Sumber data dari artikel ini berasal dari penelitian-penelitian sebelumnya. Sumber data dari penelitian yang relevan sebelumnya diolah, dianalisis dan diambil kesimpulannya. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan LFS ini sesuai sebab menggunakan teks, baik lisan ataupun tulisan, sebagai sumber makna. Hal ini karena pendekataan LFS berupaya mengintegrasikan satuan teks atau bahasa, fungsi bahasa, dan konteks yang terdapat dalam teks sastra tersebut. Selain itu, ternyata kajian teks sastra dengan mengamplikasikan pendekatan LFS telah banyak dilaksanakan. Hal ini memperkuat terdapatnya kedekatan antara ilmu bahasa dan karya sastra melalaui pengkajian dengan pendekatan LFS ini.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the representation of women in the short film Demi Nama Baik Kampus from the perspective of Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis. This research includes descriptive qualitative research with a critical paradigm. The research data are characters' speeches that show the form and meaning of actors' positions, while the data source comes from the short film Demi Nama Baik Kampus. The data collection was done by a note-taking technique that refers to Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis theory. The results showed that (1) the subject position is occupied by Sinta; (2) the object position is occupied by Mr. Rector and Mr. Arie; and (3) the audience position is directed to take themselves from the perspective of Sinta as a victim of sexual harassment who was silenced for the sake of maintaining the good name of the campus. At the end of the story, women are represented as brave, persistent, tough, strong, and powerful. In general, the implications of this research emphasize a more positive paradigm, inspire more responsible and inclusive media use, and promote the development of narratives that support gender equality and women's empowerment.Keywords: representation, women, short films, Sara Mills

Abstract

Waiting on You (WoY) is the work of Kristan Higgins, a New York Times bestselling author whose novel was also translated into Indonesian by Nina Andiana. Higgins consistently uses complex clauses in writing novels. As a result, long complex clauses are difficult to translate. This research refers to the Functional Systemic Linguistics approach which aims to: explain the interdependence and semantic logic of complex clauses in source language text are translated into interdependence and semantic logic of complex clauses in recipient language text in novel WoY; Taxis marker translation technique used in translating from source language text to recipient language; the shifts found in the translated novel Penantian Terpanjang; the quality of translation of complex clauses in target language. This method is descriptive qualitative with taxis as an object in the novel WoY, sourced from source language texts and recipient language texts from the novel entitled Penantian Terpanjang, and obtained from informants who are linguistic and translation experts. The technique is purposive sampling. Techniques of collecting data are document analysis and focus group discussions. The data validity is triangulation. The results are after breaking down sentences into clauses and analyzing them, researchers find that the most dominant form (interdependence) is paratactic, and the meaning (semantic logic) that is most widely used is the extension. Meanwhile, the most widely used technique is common. The types of shifts found are form (interdependence) and meaning (semantic logic). This shift has a positive effect on readability so that it can improve the quality of the novel translation.

Abstract

This article describes the syntagmatic and paradigmatic approaches to language. This is to distinguish two different approaches or perspectives on language because language units can explore syntagmatic and paradigmatic connections. The syntagmatic approach is contrasted with the paradigmatic approach approach to studying three different levels of analysis namely, phonology, morphology, and syntax, as a sub-discipline of linguistics. In other words, the subject matter for studying the two different approaches is mainly related to linguistic forms, phonemes (the study of sound changes at the level) structure of sounds, known as phonology), and morphemes (the study of words). structure at the level of internal word structure, known as morphology), and words (the study of how words combine to form grammatical sentences, known as syntax). This article also discusses the application of syntagmatic and paradigmatic in language teaching. AbstrakArtikel ini menjelaskan tentang pendekatan sintagmatik dan paradigmatik pada bahasa. Hal ini untuk membedakan dua pendekatan atau perspektif yang berbeda tentang bahasa karena unit bahasa dapat mengeksplorasi sintagmatik dan paradigmatik hubungan. Pendekatan sintagmatik dikontraskan dengan paradigmatik pendekatan untuk mempelajari tiga tingkat analisis yang berbeda yaitu, fonologi, morfologi, dan sintaksis, sebagai sub-disiplin ilmu linguistik. Dengan kata lain, pokok bahasan untuk mempelajari dua pendekatan yang berbeda terutama berkaitan dengan bentuk linguistik, fonem (studi tentang perubahan suara pada tingkat struktur suara, yang dikenal sebagai fonologi), morfem (studi tentang kata). struktur pada tingkat struktur kata internal, yang dikenal sebagai morfologi), dan kata (studi tentang bagaimana kata-kata bergabung untuk membentuk kalimat gramatikal, dikenal sebagai sintaksis). Artikel ini juga membahas penerapan sintagmatik dan paradigmatik dalam pengajaran bahasa.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis dialog pada podcast Tetangga Daniel Mananta edisi Ustad Abdul Somad (UAS). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tanda-tanda yang muncul dalam dialog yang merepresentasi pesan ideologi Islam dalam hal sikap bertoleransi yang diujarkan oleh ustad Abdul Somad. Peneliti menggunakan metode interpretif dengan pendekatan kualitatif dan alat analisis semiotika dari Roland Barthes. Hasil penelitian menúnjukkan bahwa pada teks ditemukan beberapa tanda yang digunakan untuk mewakili ideologi Islam dalam hal toleransi meliputi mengahdiri undangan, ajaran kasih sayang, membantu kalangan yang tidak mampu, bersahabat dengan semua etnis dan beragama, berempati, Status Nabi Isa dalam Al Qur’an, pandangan terhadap nabi Isa, dan toleransi terhadap lingkungan. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat bahwa Islam sebagai sebuah agama dan ideologi sangat mendukung sikap toleransi sebagaimana yang diutarakan Ustad Abdul Somad.

Abstract

This research dissects “The Truman Show” using metaphor, simile, and personification to expose concealed symbolism. The study employs a qualitative method, scrutinizing the film’s script based on X.J. Kennedy’s theory. Data is gathered through film observation and noting the usage of these literary devices. The film primarily uses personification (41.2%), followed by metaphor (35.3%) and simile (23.5%). These devices stimulate viewers to question reality and the media’s impact. They underscore the significance of privacy in genuine life experiences. The film serves as a warning, revealing how turning real life into entertainment can dehumanize individuals and reminding us of the value of privacy as a crucial part of a genuine life experience. The study follows a systematic process, including outlining the topic, creating the thesis layout, gathering information from the film and online research, and analyzing the symbols and meanings in the thesis. Abstract

The speaker on Cokro TV's Youtube video, Ade Armando, expressed his opinion about the discourse of non-mahram which has invited controversy. The discourse of non-muhrim has sparked debate because it is associated with social problems that occur in society, namely choosing a doctor who is adjusted to the gender of the patient. This research emphasizes more on the ideology that the speaker wants to convey and the strategies used by the speaker to express his ideology. The critical analysis model used in this research is Van Leeuwen's critical analysis model. This research model is used to determine the social actors supported and marginalized by the speaker. This research uses a qualitative research approach with content analysis method. The results showed that the speakers used exclusion and inclusion strategies. The exclusion strategy used by the speaker leads to a passive discourse strategy, while the inclusion strategy used by the speaker leads to an identification discourse strategy.

Abstract

In the context of the development of the Merdeka Curriculum in Indonesia, this study highlights the importance of understanding how cultural values are reflected in Indonesian language learning at the high school level. The research method used is descriptive using qualitative analysis to explore the integration of local culture and the use of local languages in the “Cerdas Cergas Berbahasa dan Bersastra Indonesia” textbook for grades X, XI, and XII. The findings show that the adoption of folklore, customs and local languages in the curriculum not only enhances students' understanding of Indonesia's cultural heritage, but also provides a rich and meaningful learning experience. As such, this integration provides a strong national identity for students and reinforces a sense of pride in the nation's culture. This research makes an important contribution to understanding how education can be an effective vehicle for enriching and maintaining cultural diversity in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research discusses the object of language research, namely word formation through morphophonemic processes. This study aims to determine the process of morphophonemic formation in the scientific papers of grade IX students of SMP Al-Zahra Indonesia. The method used is a qualitative descriptive method and the results of the analysis indicate the presence of morphophonemic processes in the work. Factors that cause this process include the bilinguality of speakers, insufficient vocabulary and unfaithfulness in using Indonesian.

Abstract

A translated drama script is a work that combines many elements from narrative structure to social and artistic aspects. Translating a drama script into another language requires a deep understanding of its cultural aspects, language and artistic nuances. This translation process not only changes the words, but also adjusts artistic elements, maintains the essence of the original story, and understands and reproduces the meaning contained in the drama. This research aims to comprehend the storyline in a translated drama script using the Traditional Narrative Analysis Method in the work "Badak-badak," a translation of "Rhinocéros" by Eugene Ionesco. The research results reveal that this manuscript carries the theme of the transformation of humans into rhinos with a linear plot that follows the chronology of events. Various key characters interact in a tavern as the main setting. The storyline visualization maps events from introduction to resolution, including Slamet's drinking routine, the appearance of the rhino, character transformation, and Slamet's state of isolation. This understanding influences many aspects, including learning, teaching, and theater practice. Storyline visualization provides a foundation for cultural exploration, deeper learning, and provides guidance in planning theatrical productions. An in-depth understanding of the storyline of a translated drama script not only enriches the learning experience of theater students, but also supports the design of a cohesive and strong theater production.Keywords – Badak-badak, Narrative Structure, Rhinoceros, Translated Drama Script.
