Abstract

The aim of the research is to find out the means of language, mathematics, statistics in thinking scientifically. Formulation of the problem: how to use language, mathematics, statistics in thinking scientifically? The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, the way to obtain data is in the form of a literature study. The results of this study are that the stages of scientific activity require tools in the form of scientific thinking facilities. The means of scientific thinking function only as tools for humans to think scientifically in order to gain knowledge. Language is a means of communicating systematic ways of thinking in acquiring knowledge. Mathematics is a means of deductive thinking, so people can use statistics to think inductively. Deductive thinking and inductive thinking are needed to support correct scientific activities so that they will produce correct knowledge. Meanwhile, statistics should not be underestimated by people who want to be able to carry out scientific activities well. Mastery of statistics is very necessary for people who will draw valid conclusions. Statistics must be seen as equal to mathematics.

Abstract

To be able to do scientific thinking well requires the means of language, mathematics and statistics. The type of writing in this article is literature revieu or library nature, the data is described descriptively, thus suggesting a scientific study that can be further developed. The object of the study in this article is related to the study of the means of scientific thinking. (bahasa, matematika dan statistik). The collection of data in this paper begins with the collection of appropriate literature in both written and soft copy forms, for example textbooks, scientific articles, ebooks and so on. Both types of literature are the main source in displaying variables in this writing. The author then analyzes the data and reduces the various relevant information to eventually bring about a solution to the problems that are outlined in this article. Language is a means of communicating systematic ways of thinking in acquiring knowledge. Without language skills, one will not be able to carry out scientific activities systematically and correctly. Mathematics is a means of deductive thinking so people can use statistics to think inductive. Statistics must be viewed in parallel with mathematics

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the short story Perempuan Buta Tanpa Ibu Jari by Intan Paramaditha using Gérard Genette's narratological approach, focusing on five main aspects: order, duration, frequency, mood, and narrative voice. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a combination of re-reading. The analysis shows that this short story uses analepsis (flashback) to build a non-linear narrative structure, creating a dramatic and immersive effect. Duration manipulation lengthens or summarises certain scenes to highlight emotional aspects and tensions in the story, while repetition of events reinforces narrative meaning and symbolism. Shifts in mood create an emotional contrast between introspective reflection and narrative tension, while the use of an autodiegetic narrator allows the reader to experience the story through the subjective perspective of the main character. Thus, the narrative techniques applied in this short story not only build a dynamic plot, but also enrich the thematic and emotional depth of the story

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the linguistic patterns used by young mothers in Dusun Garantiga, Maros Regency, on Facebook Pro content, and to examine the relationship between digital writing and speaking skills and audience engagement levels. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach with digital linguistic analysis. Data were collected through digital observation and online documentation of 120 posts from ten selected Facebook Pro accounts using purposive sampling. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Pearson and Spearman correlation tests with SPSS 25 for Windows. The results show that the linguistic patterns of young mothers’ digital communication are dominated by code-mixing (35%), informal style (28%), and netspeak (18%), indicating the use of casual greetings, abbreviations, emojis, and hashtags to create social closeness with audiences. Correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between digital writing and speaking skills and engagement levels (r = 0.642; p < 0.05). Communicative and expressive language use was found to increase audience interactions such as likes, comments, and shares. Theoretically, this research enriches digital linguistics studies by highlighting community-based communication practices that have received limited academic attention. Practically, the findings offer recommendations for developing community-based digital communication literacy, particularly empowering young mothers in rural areas to utilize social media effectively as a medium for social and economic empowerment

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of textbooks as a strategic medium in shaping students' values, character, and way of thinking in the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. Factual texts in Phase D Indonesian language textbooks not only convey information, but also represent formal values related to experiential, relational, and expressive aspects. This study aims to identify and analyze the representation of formal values in vocabulary and grammar in factual texts in Phase D Indonesian language textbooks using Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis approach. Data collection methods were carried out through documentation, reading, and note-taking techniques for factual texts in textbooks for grades VII, VIII, and IX. Data analysis used Fairclough's three-dimensional model which includes text analysis, discourse practices, and socio-cultural practices. The results of the study indicate that experiential, relational, and expressive values are represented through variations in vocabulary such as synonyms, antonyms, hyponyms, as well as the use of formal and informal language, and through grammatical structures such as active, passive, and modal sentences. Qualitatively, factual texts contain ideological content that reflects values of discipline, religiosity, modernity, and social awareness. Quantitatively, the use of experiential and expressive vocabulary is more dominant than relational vocabulary. These findings indicate that factual texts in textbooks are not neutral but play a role in shaping students' critical awareness and social values.

Abstract

Thus study aims to examine how complex sentences with subordination are used in the Indonesian-translated version of Almond, a novel by Sohn Won-Pyung, as a linguistic device to represent the psychological condition of the main character, Yoonjae, who suffers from alexithymia. Yoonjae is portrayed as an individual with difficulty identifying and expressing emotions, which significantly affects how he interacts with the world and conveys his inner experiences. In this context, the structure and form of language become crucial, as syntactic choices can function as representattions of emotional conflict that is not explicitly articulated. The study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach with a syntactic analysis method, combined with stylistic interpretation within a pyscholinguistic framework. Data were collected through documentation involving intensive reading of the novel and annotation of all complex sentences with subordination. The sentences were then analyzed based on types of subordinate clause relationships, including temporal, causal, conditional, and concessive relations. Form thw analysis of 187 complex sentences identified in the corpus data, six key finding were obtained. First, subordinated complex with emotional impairment (alexithymia). Second, the most frequent type of subordination is causal (33,29%), indicating a tendency for the caracter to rationalize experiences rather than respond affectively. Third, temporal and concessive structures play important roles in developing emotionally delayed and ambivalent narratives. Fourth, the syntactic complexity of the character’s language increases in the line with the development of his emotional sensitivity. At the beginning of the story, the sentence structures tend to be simple and informative, but the envolve into more refelective and complex forms as the character begins to recognize and engage with emotional experiences. Fifth, the sentence structure serves as an indicator of the character’s inner transformation, from emotionally flat to reflective and eventually empathetic. Sixth, syntax in this novel is note merely a structural element but also a strategic stylistic and representational tool used to subtly convey psychological dynamics. These finding suggest that syntax plays a crucial role in constructing and expressing a character’s psychological condition through an implicit strategy. Thus, complex sentences with subordination in Almond serve not only as grammatical structures but alos as effective linguistic tools that mirror the affective dynamics experienced by the protagonist, offering readers access to a nuanced and envolving emotional interior in literary narrative.
