Abstract

Limbah yang berasal dari plastik merupakan masalah serius bagi lingkungan, sifat plastik yang terurai dalam waktu yang sangat lama menjadi penyebab terjadinya pencemaran lingkungan. Salah satu upaya mengurangi keberadaan tali plastik adalah dengan memperpanjang umur plastik seperti mendaur ulang tali plastik menjadi berbagai jenis barang kerajinan, seperti tas. Permasalahan muncul saat mitra tidak dapat memenuhi permintaan inovasi produk yang dihasilkan serta belum optimalnya proses produksi dan manajemen. Permasalahan inovasi produk karena keterbatasan ide dan informasi yang diperoleh tentang berbagai bentuk inovasi produk yang sekiranya dapat dikembangakan. Permasalahan manajeman yang dialami mitra yaitu belum adanya pembukuan yang mencatat aktivitas keuangan usaha, serta pemasaran yang masih konvensional dan kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat sekitar untuk meningkatkan kualitas sumber daya manusia. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini diantaranya  meningkatkan kualitas dan kuantitas produk kerajinan dari limbah tali plastik packing dan meningkatkan kemampuan sumber daya manusia (SDM) pelaku usaha dan ibu-ibu di lingkungan sekitar, serta berkurangnya tingkat pengangguran di lingkungan sekitar usaha. Metode pengabdian masyarakat yang dilakukan antara lain berdiskusi dengan mitra untuk mendapatkan solusi permasalahan dengan memberikan masukan-masukan dari pengalaman selama melakukan usaha pembuatan tas tali plastik, mengadakan pelatihan dalam mendesain inovasi produk dari limbah tali plastikdan menyiapkan perangkat yang dibutuhkan dalam pelatihan manajemen usaha dan pembukuan pencatatan keuangan. Hasil pengadian berupa inovasi produk hasil anyaman limbah tali plastik serta tentang peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas proses produksi melalui pengembangan inovasi produk yang dihasilkan. Dengan demikian, perlu upaya berkelanjutan guna meningkatkan pendampingan bagi usaha masyarakat agar semakin berdaya.

Abstract

Researchers have developed the coastal environments-based physics learning module. One of the quality modules developed can be seen from its validity. This research aims to describe the validity of the coastal environments-based physics learning module on the theme temperature and heat. The technique of collecting data is used a validation sheet by four validators, namely two as expert validators and two as validator practitioners. The validity aspects of the experts assessed are construct, content, and language. Aspects of validity seen from practitioners are relevance, accuracy, readability, and language. The criteria for stating the quality of the physics module developed in each component consist of four evaluations, 1) invalid, 2) less valid, 3) valid, 4) very valid. The results of this research indicated that the expert validity was 3.38 with a very valid category; also that practitioner validity is 3.64 with a very valid category. Thus, a physics learning module insight the coastal environment could be used in learning to observe aspects of quality from other aspects such as practicality and effectiveness.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in the improvement of cognitive learning outcomes of students using the APPOSITE model and students using the direct instruction model. This research is an experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA at SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPA 1 as the experimental class and class XI IPA 2 as the control class. Data collection techniques are carried out through tests, observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used the N-gain test and t-test. Based on the results of the N-gain analysis, it can be seen that the class that uses the APPOSITE model gets a score of 0.36 in the moderate category, while the N-gain class that uses the direct instruction model gets a score of 0.22 in the low category. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the independent sample t-test can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the increase in cognitive learning outcomes of students using the APPOSITE learning model and the improvement of student cognitive learning outcomes using the direct instruction learning model.Keyword: APPOSITE model, cognitif learning outcomesABSTRAK.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang menggunakan model APPOSITE dengan siswa yang menggunakan model direct instruction. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes, observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji N-gain dan uji t-test. Berdasarkan hasil analisis N-gain terlihat bahwa kelas yang menggunakan model APPOSITE memperoleh skor 0,36 dengan kategori sedang, sedangkan N-gain kelas yang menggunakan model direct instruction memperoleh skor 0,22 dengan kategori rendah. Berdasarkan hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan uji independent sample t-test dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran APPOSITE dengan peningkatan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran direct instruction. Abstract

ABSTRAK Jember merupakan daerah yang memiliki potensi tebu yang besar. Akan tetapi, potensi pengolahan tebu belum banyak dikembangkan sebagai sumber belajar dalam proses pembelajaran sehingga belum dapat menumbuhkan kesadaran akan kepedulian lingkungan akibat keberadaan limbah dari pabrik pengolahan tebu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tentang penguasaan konsep ipa terpadu dan tingkat kepedulian lingkungan mahasiswa setelah pembelajaran menggunakan bahan ajar tentang pengolahan tebu sebagai energi terbarukan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan desain penelitian one group pretest posttest design. Sampel penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru fisika yang menempuh mata kuliah IPA Terpadu. Teknik pengumpulan data secara observasi, dokumentasi dan test penguasaan konsep. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan penguasaan konsep IPA Terpadu mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan sebesar 0,43 dan berada dalam kategori sedang. Mahasiswa menunjukkan adanya peningkatan sikap kepedulian lingkungan terhadap potensi lokal pengolahan tebu sebagai energi terbarukan yang ada di Jember. Kemampuan penguasaan konsep dan sikap kepedulian lingkungan sangat penting dimiliki oleh mahasiswa agar mahasiswa mampu mengintegrasikan konsep yang dimiliki ke dalam sikap peduli lingkungan dalam kehidupan nyata.Kata Kunci: IPA Terpadu, Penguasaan Konsep, Kesadaran Lingkungan, Tanaman TebuABSTRACT Jember is a regency which has a great potential of sugar cane. Meanwhile, the potential of the processing of sugar cane was not yet to be developed as a learning resource and hence was not able to grow the environment awareness which was caused by the waste of sugar cane factory. The aimed of this research was to describe the mastery concept learning of integrated science and level of students’ environment awareness after learning by using teaching material about the processing of sugar cane as a renewable energy. The method was experimental research with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample of this research was physics students who took integrated science course.  The research data which was collected by using observation, documentation, and mastery concept test was analyzed by using normalized gain. The result showed that there was an increasing of N-gain around 0,43 and came to medium category. It also showed that there was environment awareness toward local potential of sugar cane manufacturing as a renewable energy in Jember. The ability of mastery concept and environment awareness was very important to be had by students, so the students were able to integrate the science concept into environment awareness behaviour in the daily life.Keywords: Integrated Science; Mastery Concept Learning; Environment Awareness; Sugar Cane.

Abstract

Penerapan Kurikulum 2013 sangat memerlukan keaktifan siswa pada proses pembelajaran, sehingga siswa tidak pasif dan pengetahuan dasar yang dimiliki siswa dapat dikembangkan. Tinggi rendahnya sikap ilmiah akan memengaruhi cara berpikir siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, seperti cara siswa bisa terbuka terhadap opini orang lain, mengatakan sesuatu sesuai fakta, objektif dan menyimpulkan suatu hal dengan pertimbangan yang matang. Oleh karena itu, kreativitas guru dalam merancang ide baru mengenai pelaksanaan pembelajaran juga sangat diperlukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan sikap ilmiah siswa selama pembelajaran menggunakan model Problem Based Learning dengan pendekatan STEM pada pembelajaran fisika. Data sikap ilmiah siswa diperoleh dari hasil observasi yang dilakukan oleh observer menggunakan lembar observasi. Sampel peneltian ini adalah 36 siswa kelas X IPA 1 di MAN 2 Jember. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data secara deskriptif diperoleh nilai rata-rata nilai sikap ilmiah siswa di kelas X IPA 1 termasuk dalam kategori baik. Dengan demikian, penggunaan model Problem Based Learning dengan pendekatan STEM dapat memicu sikap ilmiah siswa mencapai kategori baik.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the relationship between refractive index and light intensity in various fluids. This type of this research was experimental research. The measurement data obtained the refractive index values of various fluids, namely the refractive index of spirit, watered, alcohol, oil, and oil respectively 1. 3066 ± 0. 0053, 1. 319 ± 0. 0056, 1. 3422 ± 0. 0061, 1. 438 ± 0. 0054, 1. 576 ± 0. 0068. The data from the measurement of light intensity in various fluids obtained the valued of the intensity of light that passed through spirit, watered, alcohol, oil, and oil, respectively, namely 1220. 8 ± 3. 72 lux, 1219 ± 3. 9 lux, 1216. 2 ± 3, 77 lux, 1202. 6 ± 3. 88 lux, and 1180. 2 ± 4. 07 lux. The results of this research obtained a valued of r = 1 which indicates that the relationship between the refractive index and light intensity was very strong. The conclusion in this studied was that there was a relationship between refractive index and light intensity. This relationship could been seen in the refractive index, the greater the valued in the fluid would made the transmitted light intensity decrease or inversely proportional. Abstract

The learning model project based learning is an instructional model that can be applied to the STEM approach. Approach STEM (Science, Technology in, Engineering and Mathematic) is an approach that can be used in learning by using multiple disciplines. STEM approach in learning is very suitable to be applied in the curriculum in 2013 so that students are able to be more active, creative, and better understand the concepts taught in a material for a project which produced students in learning directly related to real-life experience of students in the everyday. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of the learning model project based learning with STEM approach to the learning outcomes of high school students. The research was conducted in class X IPA 1 SMA Muhammadiyah 3 Jember, with 32 students at 15 male students and 17 female students. The method used in this research is the method pre-experiment design with one group pretest-posttest design. Collecting data in this study using the initial test and final test. Student learning outcomes obtained after application project based learning model STEM learning approach shows N-gain category was at 0.62. Abstract

Practical activities are a series of activities carried out to apply skills or practice something that requires practical tools in its implementation. The purpose of using practical tools is to meet the needs of practitioners in carrying out a process. One of the physics concepts that can be explained through practical activities is calorimetry. Specific heat is one of the observations made during the practicum using a calorimeter. The specific heat of the material is usually measured using a coffee-cup calorimeter manually. The obstacle faced by the practitioner during the calorimetry practicum is that the measurement of the dependent variables takes up the time and attention of the practitioner in the implementation of the practicum. The objectives of this research are (1) to design an Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool; (2) explain the work system of the Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool; (3) measuring the amount of heat on the Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool; (4) comparing the effectiveness of the Arduino Uno-based calorimeter practicum tool with the coffee-cup calorimeter practicum tool. This study uses a type of research and development (Research and Development) with a Nieveen design conducted in the Laboratory of Physics Education Study FKIP Jember University. Nieveen's design research procedures include Preliminary Research, Prototyping Stage, and Assessment Stage (summative evaluation). Based on the results of data analysis, there is a very strong relationship between the data from the measurement results of the design of the tool and the data from the results of the measuring instruments that have been standardized. The results of the measurement of the specific heat of the material using the design of the tool indicate a conformity with the previous theoretical study. Abstract

Abstract: The using of technology in the field of education especially in college is the using of e-learning. E-learning is a way of teaching and learning activities assisted by information and communication technology. One example of e-learning implementation is test. This type of exam is referred to as an online test or computer based testing (CBT). University of Jember has an e-learning called Media Manajemen Pembelajaran (MMP) and one of the features in it is a quiz feature that can be used by lecturers in giving quizzes, tests, or examinations to students. . The research that has been carried out aims to determine the response of Physics Education students to the implementation of online examinations in Lab Management courses. The question model used in this exam is in the form of multiple choices. After students finish working on the questions, students fill in the questionnaire responses which are then processed and presented in tabular forms, then analyzed descriptively. The results obtained from this study give good results. Students give positive responses to representations about using the online system for exams, the interest of students in taking online exams, easy use of web access, online system test displays and questions, and responses to the methods used in the online system. Abstract

Abstract: An important stage that will determine the quality of ready-to-consume coffee is roasting. This method has been developed and used to obtain the best and specific quality of coffee brewing. In addition to the method used, the type of coffee greatly influences the quality characteristics of the brewed coffee produced. Coffee beans will not have a high commercial value before being subjected to a roasting process for the formation of the best aroma and taste. Roasting is a combination of time and temperature that changes the structure and chemical properties in coffee beans through the pyrolysis process. Even high-quality coffee beans cannot have maximum aroma and flavor if the roasting process is not done properly. This research uses a roasting machine type Hot Air Roasting or with other names Air Roasting is a different roasted coffee method. Coffee roasting process is not on the surface of the roaster but in the air, this coffee roasting method was introduced by Michael Sivetz, a chemical engineer and consultant of the world coffee industry. Based on the results of this study that the decrease in density discussed in the previous paragraph shows that the longer the roasting, the weight of coffee will decrease because the water content in coffee beans has begun to decrease. This shows that the longer the coffee beans are roasted, the better the results of heating. This research process uses a hot air type roasting machine. Hot water is one type of roasting machine that is good and efficient, because the heating carried out by the machine uses electrical energy. The final results obtained in this study the temperature continues to rise but the density decreases. This shows the inverse relationship between temperature and density of coffee and the best roasting results and can be used for brewing robusta coffee at 200 ° C in 15-20 minutes.
