Abstract

This literature review aims to analyze what factors are associated with LOS in orthopedic surgery patients. This literature review was carried out using PRISMA guidelines, the electronic databases used were ScienceDirect, CINAHL and Pubmed with the keywords "Length of Stay' OR 'Hospital Discharge' OR 'Hospital Stay' AND 'Orthopaedic Surgery". The results obtained were 10 full text articles, using English, and published in the period 2013-2023. Based on the articles, five groups of factors were found, namely: respondent characteristics (gender and age), comorbidities, surgical time, social support, and attendance at preoperative education classes. Conclusion, Predicting LOS in surgery is an important factor because it helps hospitals provide quality surgical services, ensure patient safety, and plan optimal resources for patients. Further research is still needed to identify factors that influence the LOS of orthopedic surgery patients, especially in Indonesia. So we can find the right solution to reduce the LOS of orthopedic surgery patients. Keywords: Orthopedic Surgery, Length of Stay, Length of Stay

Abstract

Background: Social media has many positive and negative influences on individuals, especially for adolescents related to HIV. However, little is known about how social media impacts HIV-related outcomes among adolescents in boarding schools. Objective: This study aims to investigate the social media use, knowledge, attitudes, and sexual behavior at risk of HIV transmission and their relationship with the demographic characteristics of adolescent students at boarding schools. Methods: This study was school-based and used a cross-sectional design. The questionnaires were used to assess social network site usage, knowledge, attitudes, and risky behavior. Cluster random sampling involved students (n = 214) from three boarding schools in Cirebon City, West Java, Indonesia, in 2022. Chi-square tests and Cramer’s V were used to explore correlations between social and demographic factors. Results: A considerable number of adolescent students exhibited high social media addiction (58.4%), with the majority possessing limited knowledge of HIV transmission (54.7%). Additionally, nearly half displayed a negative attitude towards preventing HIV transmission (47.2%), while only a small fraction engaged in risky behavior (2.8%). Bivariate analysis revealed that social media use was moderately associated with the type of social media application (φc = 0.246, p <0.05). Knowledge of HIV transmission exhibited a moderate correlation with age (φc = 0.331, p <0.05), education level (φc = 0.240, p <0.001), and exposure to information (φc = 0.269, p <0.001). Similarly, attitudes toward HIV prevention demonstrated moderate associations with age (φc = 0.341, p = 0.001), education level (φc = 0.317, p <0.001), and exposure to information (φc = 0.266, p <0.001). Furthermore, risky sexual behavior exhibited a strong association with exposure to pornographic content (φc = 0.730, p <0.001). Conclusion: The study found a high prevalence of social media usage among adolescents, coupled with low knowledge about HIV, negative attitudes, and risky behavior. Significant relationships were observed between social media use, knowledge, attitudes, and risky sexual behavior related to HIV transmission and demographic characteristics. This study emphasizes the vital role of nurses and healthcare professionals in implementing targeted educational interventions in boarding schools to address gaps in HIV risk knowledge influenced by social media, ultimately improving strategies for adolescents’ sexual health.

Abstract

This study aims to determine a practical method approach to using social media to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS infection. The preparation of this literature review uses the narrative literature review method by entering keywords into the Pubmed, ProQuest, Wiley, CINAHL, and Science Direct databases. The study results indicate that the practical techniques used in the use of social media to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS infection include Network Monitoring System (NMS) and direct intervention. The Network Monitoring System (NMS) method can analyze the role of health sociology science on statistical data or social change trends used as consideration in formulating health promotion policies. Meanwhile, direct intervention with a comprehensive educational approach in empowering individuals or groups becomes a stimulant to self-potential to deal with health problems independently. In conclusion, both of them produce outputs in increasing awareness in the prevention and transmission of HIV/AIDS, healthy sexual knowledge, minimizing stigma against people living with HIV/AIDS, getting a target tracing flow that will be given education. Abstract

Breast cancer is still the most common case in many countries. Breast cancer can threat a person's quality of life, especially for someone who has difficulty choosing treatment due to lack of understanding of treatment options. In choosing a treatment influenced by knowledge and income which are internal factors that must be present in determining treatment options, because it will determine the right choice of treatment. This study aims to discover the choice of treatment in breast cancer patients based on knowledge and income. This research is a cross sectional study. This study used secondary data from a Leading Tertiary Study grant in 2015. Sampling in this study were 200 breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Data processing used univariate and crosstabs techniques with the correlation test using Chi-Square. In this study, there was a relationship between knowledge and choice of treatment, but there was no relationship between income and choice of treatment. The conclusion from this research is the treatment of breast cancer is significantly influenced by the patient's knowledge. this is obtained from the p value of 0.008 <0.05, which indicates that the relationship significantly influences each other It is hoped that this research can be a source of information that can be used by health workers in providing nursing care.
