Abstract

The objective of this study is to develop a career advice platform for Children with Special Needs (CSN) through the use of gamification-assisted education. The study suggests that inclusive vocational schools in Surabaya and Sidoarjo, East Java, should create an Android application called GOPEKA in response to the dearth of structured employment services and specialized resources for CSN. For CSN, who have a predisposition for studying via Android applications, the program is both user-friendly and captivating. The ADDIE paradigm, which comprises Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation, was specifically applied in our Research and Development (R&D) endeavors. An essential component of career coaching for CSN, gamification-assisted media emerged from an initial investigation that included a literature review and conversations with school counsellors. Utilizing the Career Information Processing and Career Diamond theories as core concepts and incorporating gamification features (components, mechanics, dynamics) were also highlighted in the literature review. A GOPEKA application prototype was developed during the design and development process. Its interface design and button performance were enhanced as a result of a validation procedure conducted by professionals and experts. Seven secondary schools, including a special needs high school in Surabaya and Sidoarjo, participated in an evaluation of the app's efficacy with 82 disabled students from vocational high schools. The average total career planning scores improved significantly from the pre-test to the post-test subsequent to utilizing the GOPEKA application, as determined by the Wilcoxon test on non-normal data distribution. The study's findings indicate that the GOPEKA application's second iteration is efficacious and appropriate for implementation with CSN, subsequent to its validation and feasibility assessments. In addition, the article proposes avenues for further research and addresses the constraints associated with the implementation of gamification in product development.

Abstract

The integration of religious learning significantly shapes students' educational experiences and character development. This study explores specific dimensions of religiosity in the attitudes of Islamic primary school students in Indonesia, focusing on awareness, initiative, and altruism. Using a qualitative design with a grounded theory approach, the research was conducted in 64 classes from grades 1 to 6, involving 1,920 students. Instruments included a guidebook of students' daily worship activities and teacher observations. Data were analyzed using NVivo 14 and Crosstab analysis. The findings reveal that students' external religiosity, influenced by their environment and personal motivation, leads to internal religiosity characterized by conscientiousness, initiative, and altruism. Conscientiousness reflects adherence to religious norms, initiative is shown through disciplined and pious actions, and altruism manifests in helping others based on religious teachings. The study concludes that the development of students' religiosity dimensions results from disciplined and continuous training supported by teachers and parents. The findings highlight the importance of ongoing attention and guidance in fostering altruistic attitudes. These insights have implications for educators, policymakers, and parents, emphasizing the need for comprehensive religious education that promotes ethical behavior and social responsibility. Future research should explore the long-term effects of religious education on moral and social development, its impact across diverse backgrounds, and the role of digital platforms in enhancing religious education.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of metacognitive strategies on critical thinking skills and learner autonomy in argumentative writing among students in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools (Mambaus Sholihin Gresik, Amanatul Ummah Mojokerto, Al-Amin Prenduan Madura, and Al-Rosyid Bojonegoro). This study uses mixed methods; the research integrated quantitative data from pre-tests and post-tests with qualitative insights from interviews, questionnaires, and observations to evaluate the strategies' effectiveness. Qualitative findings revealed that applying metacognitive strategies in a four-week argumentative writing module involving goal setting, monitoring, and reflection effectively improved students' critical thinking skills, independence, and writing abilities in Indonesian Islamic boarding schools. Quantitative results indicated that metacognitive strategies significantly enhanced students' abilities to construct coherent arguments and manage the writing process independently (F = 1.540, Sig. = 0.014). However, the overall impact on critical thinking skills and learner autonomy was not statistically significant. Theoretically, the findings confirm that metacognitive strategies enhance analytical and evaluation skills, emphasise the need for contextual adjustments, support the role of peer feedback in boosting metacognitive awareness, and underscore the value of integrating local values to enhance student motivation and independence. Future research should explore the long-term effects, involve more boarding schools, and consider contextual factors such as teacher roles and integration into the Islamic boarding school environment.

Abstract

The right learning strategy provides benefits in mastery of learning, allowing students to collaborate and interact in implementing and creating learning projects. Through Ubiquitous Project Based Learning (UPjBL), Instructional Design fully contributes to achieving optimal learning objectives for students. This study aims to develop UPjBL Learning Design and determine the feasibility of the results. The development method for education uses the ADDIE development model stages. The data collection technique uses an instrument in the form of a validation assessment sheet and a closed question instrument in the form of a five-point Likert scale. The development procedure is done by analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation. The study found that the Ubiquitous Project Based Learning (UPjBL) learning design is valid and feasible. It is known that the product developed has a feasibility value of 4.5 which means that the product is included in the extraordinary category or is very possible to use in the learning process. The combination of Ubiquitous learning and Project-based learning has a UPjBL learning model based on the Constructivist approach. This approach emphasizes that the learning process is centred on students by constructing knowledge obtained contextually. The lecture program units and teaching materials for Information and Communication Technology with primary computer material are adjusted to the curriculum and characteristics of students.
