Abstract

Multicultural education is a crucial approach to addressing the increasing complexity of cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, particularly in Indonesia as a multicultural nation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia and to compare it with practices in multinational countries such as Canada and Australia. The research employed a literature review method by analyzing various scholarly sources, including journal articles, books, research reports, and relevant national and international education policies published between 2015 and 2025. The findings indicate that although Indonesia has established policy frameworks supporting multicultural education, its implementation continues to face significant challenges, particularly in integrating multicultural values into the curriculum and in the limited availability of teacher training for managing cultural diversity in the classroom. In contrast, Canada and Australia demonstrate more systematic and integrated practices of multicultural education, despite ongoing challenges related to socio-economic disparities. The study concludes that the gap between policy and practice remains the primary barrier to the effective implementation of multicultural education in Indonesia. Therefore, a more holistic policy reformulation, the development of inclusive curricula, and the strengthening of teacher competencies are necessary to ensure that multicultural education can be implemented effectively and sustainably.

Abstract

Science is a combination of Natural Sciences (IPA) and Social Sciences (IPS) which is now a new subject in the Independent Curriculum. Science and Technology began to be taught in elementary schools to develop students' basic abilities in natural sciences and social sciences. In science and science subjects, teachers are still monotonous or too often rely on student books and teacher books. As we know, elementary school students are still children, so if the teacher is always monotonous teaching will be boring. This research aims to determine the effect of the Facilitator and Explain learning model on the science learning outcomes of class IV students at SDN Cibiru 6 KCKB. This type of research is experimental research. The sampling technique uses Purposive Sampling. The instrument in this research is a test of student learning outcomes, while the data analysis technique uses the t-test. Based on the results of the research, the average value of the experimental class was 83.00 and 73.40 in the control class. It can be seen from the results of the data analysis that has been carried out that t count (3.29) > t table (1.68), so the hypothesis is accepted. From the research results it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Facilitator and Explaining model on students' science learning outcomes. For this reason, it is recommended that teachers who teach science subjects apply the Facilitator and Explaining model in the learning process.

Abstract

Physical activity has been recognized as an important factor in improving students' cognitive function and academic achievement. However, there is uncertainty regarding the type and intensity of physical activity that is most effective in the educational context. This study aims to analyze the relationship between physical activity, cognitive function, and academic achievement through a meta-analysis approach, and to identify moderating factors that influence the relationship. This study used a meta-analysis method by collecting data from studies published in peer-reviewed journals. The data collection process followed the PRISMA guidelines, and the analysis was conducted using Comprehensive Meta-Analysis (CMA) to evaluate heterogeneity and moderation effects. The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between physical activity and improvements in cognitive function and academic achievement. Moderate to high-intensity aerobic activity was shown to be more effective than light activity. The findings also showed that elementary school-aged children gained greater cognitive benefits than students at higher levels of education. This study emphasizes the importance of integrating physical activity into the educational curriculum to improve academic outcomes. These findings make a significant contribution to the development of evidence-based educational policies and support more interactive teaching practices.

Abstract

This study aims to describe teachers’ strategies in improving students’ self-confidence in performing the forward roll in Class X Nursing Assistant 2 at a Health Vocational High School in Samarinda. The background of this study is based on the low level of self-confidence among some students in performing the forward roll, as indicated by fear, hesitation, and a lack of courage to attempt the movement independently. This condition affects the effectiveness of the learning process and outcomes in Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PE), particularly in floor exercise materials. This study employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects included PE teachers and students of Class X Nursing Assistant 2. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The results indicate that teachers’ strategies in enhancing students’ self-confidence include providing motivation and positive reinforcement, demonstrating movements clearly and progressively, applying cooperative learning methods, using individualized approaches, and offering affective feedback that emphasizes students’ effort and courage. The challenges faced by teachers include differences in students’ physical abilities, fear of injury, and limited self-confidence in attempting movements. To address these challenges, teachers create a safe and supportive learning environment, modify the level of movement difficulty, and provide gradual guidance. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that the implementation of appropriate, psychologically oriented teaching strategies can improve students’ self-confidence in performing the forward roll. Increased self-confidence leads students to become more courageous, active, and motivated in participating in PE learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the competence of the ideal Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PJOK) teacher based on the perspective of grade IX students at SMP Negeri 6 Samarinda. Teacher competence is an important aspect in supporting the success of the learning process and improving the quality of education. The ideal PJOK teacher is expected to have four main competencies, namely pedagogic, personality, professional, and social competencies that are integrated in daily learning practices. This study uses a quantitative descriptive approach with a population of 45 students in grade IX. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling to provide equal opportunities to each member of the population. Data collection was carried out through observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The data obtained was analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results of the study showed that the profile of PJOK teachers at SMP Negeri 6 Samarinda was in the good category. This can be seen from students' assessments of teachers' abilities in managing learning, showing a good attitude, having professional competence, and being able to interact socially well in the school environment. In addition, PJOK teachers are also considered to be able to be role models in their daily attitudes and behaviors. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that PJOK teachers have met the criteria as ideal teachers according to the student's perspective. However, competency improvement still needs to be carried out on an ongoing basis to support a more optimal quality of learning in the future.
