Abstract

The reality is that some tahfizh institutions still emphasize the quantitative aspect of memorization, while understanding the meaning and content of the verses of the Qur'an has not been systematically integrated into the learning curriculum. In fact, strengthening the understanding of the content of the verses is an important element in forming students who not only memorize the textual, but are also able to internalize the values of the Qur'an in their attitudes, behavior, and social life. This study uses a qualitative approach with the Design and Development Research (DDR) method, which is specifically aimed at developing a relevant and contextual curriculum model in educational institutions of tahfizh Al-Qur'an. The results of the study indicate that the curriculum model of tahfizh Al-Qur'an at the Ibnu Jauzi Islamic Boarding School in Bogor was developed in an integrative manner by combining memorization programs (tahfizh), understanding the meaning of verses (fahm al-ayat), and strengthening the applicable values of the Qur'an. Strengthening understanding of the verse's content is carried out through simple thematic interpretation learning, mufradat studies, asbabun nuzul, and discussions of moral and social values contained in the memorized verses. This research is expected to provide theoretical and practical contributions to the development of a more holistic curriculum model for Islamic boarding schools for memorizing the Qur'an, as well as serving as a reference for Islamic educational institutions in integrating Qur'an memorization with continuous strengthening of understanding of verse content.

Abstract

A Strategy is a method or approach that includes all methods or approaches that are closely related to the implementation of concepts or plans and activities within a certain period of time. Facilities and infrastructure are needed to support the smooth running of activities in the learning process, so each school must manage the facilities and infrastructure it has. This research intends to explain three things: (1) SDIT al Fatih Depok's strategy in improving learning standards; (2) Al Fatih SDIT planning to improve the standards of facilities and infrastructure; and (3) The role of teachers in improving learning standards at SDIT Al Fatih Depok through facilities and infrastructure. In this study, observational studies and literature reviews were combined with qualitative methodology. In-depth interviews, documentation studies, and participant observation were the three data collection methods used. It can be concluded that the Strategy for Improving the Quality of Learning through Improving Facilities and Infrastructure has succeeded in helping students achieve better learning outcomes based on the quality of teaching provided by teachers at SDIT Al Fatih Depok.

Abstract

This research aims to uncover: 1). The history of boarding campuses; 2). The Qur'an memorization curriculum model at boarding-based universities (IIQ, PTIQ, and IDAQU); 3). Methods and techniques for learning and memorizing the Qur'an for boarding students; 4). Supporting and inhibiting factors for implementing the Qur'an memorization curriculum, its evaluation, and its influence on the achievement of boarding students. This research methodology uses a qualitative approach and focuses on the Al-Qur'an memorization curriculum model, namely by examining naturally occurring phenomena as a direct data source. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies as supporting information. The informants in this study were the head of the tahfidz institution as a key informant, institutional staff, tahfidz instructors, Islamic boarding school/ma'had administrators, and students. Data analysis techniques were carried out using qualitative analysis, consisting of data reduction, data display, and verification or drawing conclusions. These three activities are interrelated with each other. The research found the following results: First, IIQ was founded in 1977, PTIQ in 1971, and IDAQU in 2020. Second, the three boarding-based universities have different tahfidz curriculum models: IIQ Jakarta offers 5, 10, 20, and 30 Juz programs; PTIQ offers 30 Juz (full tahfidz), 3 Juz (limited tahfidz), and 1 Juz (employee class); and IDAQU categorizes studentsas mubtadi (beginner), mutawassit (intermediate), and mahir (advanced). Third, the primary Qur'an memorization learning method at all three boarding campuses is recitation. Fourth, both supporting and inhibiting factors exist in Qur'an memorization. A gradual/tiered memorization curriculum model can assist students in fulfilling their dual obligations of Qur'an memorization and academic studies. These findings offer a replicable framework for other higher education institutions seeking to integrate Qur'an memorization into their academic programs, particularly in boarding-based settings.

Abstract

The development of Islamic education in Thailand reflects a complex dynamic shaped by historical, sociocultural, and governmental policy factors. This article aims to examine the historical background, educational system, and state policies that have influenced the existence of Islamic education, particularly in the southern provinces of Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, and Satun—regions known as centers of the Malay-Muslim community. This community has long played a pivotal role in preserving Islamic traditions through the provision of religious education. Islamic education in Thailand has evolved along two main pathways: traditional pondok institutions that emphasize classical Islamic studies, and modern madrasahs that integrate religious curricula with general subjects in accordance with national education standards. Since the 1960s, the Thai government has implemented policies to modernize Islamic education as part of a broader strategy to improve educational quality and promote social integration. However, these policies have also raised concerns about potential cultural assimilation and the diminishing autonomy of Islamic educational institutions. Using a qualitative approach through a literature review method, the findings reveal that Islamic education in Thailand continues to undergo adaptation and renewal. Despite facing structural and political challenges, Islamic educational institutions remain essential in maintaining the religious identity and cultural heritage of the Muslim minority in a predominantly Buddhist nation.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the extent to which multicultural education values are integrated into the ISMUBA textbooks for grade XI at Muhammadiyah educational institutions. Although Muhammadiyah schools are open to students from diverse backgrounds, all students are implicitly required to take ISMUBA, raising questions about whether these materials reflect multicultural principles. This study used a qualitative method with a library research approach. Primary data consisted of ISMUBA textbooks for grade XI, while secondary data included relevant books and scientific articles. The analysis was guided by the dimensions of multicultural education proposed by James A. Banks and a constructivist perspective. The findings indicate that multicultural education values are implicitly integrated into the textbooks, including content integration, knowledge construction, equity pedagogy, and prejudice reduction, although these values are not explicitly presented as dedicated multicultural topics. This study is limited to textbook content analysis and does not examine classroom implementation, which may influence how these values are interpreted in practice. This study concludes that, conceptually, ISMUBA textbooks align with key dimensions of multicultural education but require critical interpretation by educators to ensure effective implementation in diverse learning contexts.
