Abstract

The objectives of this paper are 1) to determine the level of erosion hazard in 2003, 2013 and 2023 in the Hulu Watershed of Tenggulun District, Aceh Tamiang Regency, 2) to determine the level of erosion hazard in the future, namely in 2033, 3) and to know the Erosion Disaster Policy Direction in the Hulu Watershed of Tenggulun District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. The method used is a mixed methods, namely survey research and spatial data analysis. Furthermore, in processing the direction of disaster mitigation policies, the Analytical Hierarchy Process method is carried out, which aims to formulate the priority of appropriate directions for erosion disaster mitigation. Based on the study's results, the level of erosion hazard using the USLE method in 10 years has significantly changed in 2003, 2013, and 2023. Severe erosion events are found in Selamat Village and Tenggulun Village. Furthermore, the prediction of the level of erosion hazard using the mollusce plugin method, to be able to see the simulation of future changes, and can see the kappa value index with a value of 6-8 which means the results of the value are very good within the scope of the kappa index assessment. Therefore, it can be used in the future. In addition to a policy analysis of erosion disaster mitigation policy direction, three criteria were obtained: the environment, erosion disaster mitigation, and policy. Subcriteria that are prioritised include the existence of sustainable watershed management.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively analyze flood risk by integrating spatial dynamics such as land use changes, regional spatial planning policies (RTRW), and flood hazard and vulnerability levels in the Sungai Jang watershed, Tanjung Pinang City. This study uses a spatial quantitative approach based on Geographic Information System (GIS) and weighted overlay techniques. This study found a strong causal relationship between land use change and an increase in flood risk. In the period 2017 – 2025, there was a decrease in hydrological function due to an increase in built-up area of around 20.89% and a shrinkage of productive areas, including wetland vegetation, which decreased by 54% from 2021. This change in land use results in a moderate flood hazard area of 4,442.01 hectares and a height of 306.83 hectares. The land mismatch with the RTRW of 6,206.61 hectares indirectly puts it in a flood risk area. The level of vulnerability with the criteria of prone pants is 426.34 hectares, and the criterion of very vulnerable is found in areas that are undergoing development that are not in accordance with the spatial planning of the region.

Abstract

Tanah Datar Regency is highly vulnerable to earthquake hazards due to the Semangko fault and its two active segments, Sumani and Sianok, which induce significant tectonic deformation and directly affect settlements and land-use dynamics. This study was conducted to fill the knowledge gap related to the integration of disaster mitigation in spatial planning, with two main objectives: 1) identifying and analyzing spatial conflicts that arise between the dynamics of land use change, the distribution of vulnerable settlements, and active fault disaster prone zones with the regional spatial planning of Tanah Datar Regency; and 2) formulating a model for integrating fault disaster mitigation into spatial planning based on risk analysis as a recommendation for sustainable spatial planning policies. The approach used is a mixed method with sequential explanatory variables. Quantitative analysis was conducted through spatial mapping to assess hazard levels, physical vulnerability, and the dynamics of land-use change, while qualitative analysis was used to validate the model and policy through regulatory interpretation and stakeholder interviews. The results show that 7.59% of Tanah Datar is in a high earthquake-hazard zone, followed by moderate (15.9%) and low (1.45%) hazards. Population distribution also shows that the majority of the population (20,094) lives in areas with a high level of impact, while 58,230 people are in the medium category and 67,87 people in the low category. This finding confirms the mismatch between settlement Development, land conversion dynamics, and the risk zoning applicable in the spatial plans. Therefore, the integration of disaster mitigation can no longer be positioned as an additional compent, but must become the primary foundation in spatial planning. This study recommends an integration model that places disaster risk maps as the primary reference in the formulation of spatial policies, thereby guiding the establishment of protected zones, settlements, and economic centers more safely and sustainably. This guide is expected to strengthen regional resilience and provide a scientific basis for the Development of evidence-based spatial planning policies.

Abstract

Flash floods are a hydrometeorological disaster that frequently occurs in mountainous watersheds, particularly in areas with land use that is not in accordance with its natural geomorphological conditions. This study aims to analyze the geomorphological characteristics of the Anai Valley, determine the level of flash flood vulnerability based on the integration of biophysical parameters, and assess the contribution of geomorphological mismatches to increasing flash flood vulnerability. This study uses a Geographic Information System (GIS) approach with a weighted overlay method through the integration of slope gradient, soil type, land use, river buffer, and rainfall parameters. The results show that the Anai Valley area is dominated by steep to very steep slopes, volcanic and alluvial soil types, and land use activities that develop along the Batang Anai River. High to very high flash flood vulnerability zones are concentrated in the valley plains and river corridors. Land use mismatches on steep slopes and river boundaries contribute significantly to increased surface runoff and environmental degradation.

Abstract

Flood is one of the most frequent hydrometeorological disasters in Padang City, closely related to land use change and the degradation of watershed functions. Rapid urban development in the Batang Kuranji Watershed has led to the expansion of built-up areas, which reduces land infiltration capacity and increases surface runoff, thereby intensifying flood risk, especially in downstream areas. The advancement of remote sensing technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) enables comprehensive spatial analysis to assess land use dynamics and flood hazard distribution at the watershed scale. This study aims to analyze land use changes in Padang City during the 2017–2025 period and to identify flood hazard and vulnerability levels in the Batang Kuranji Watershed based on multiple physical and hydrometeorological parameters. The analysis utilizes Landsat 8 imagery, CHIRPS rainfall data, DEMNAS-derived slope data, soil type information, river buffer analysis, and spatial planning data, which are processed using scoring and overlay methods within a GIS environment. The results indicate a continuous increase in built-up areas accompanied by a reduction in agricultural land and natural vegetation, particularly in the middle to downstream sections of the watershed. Flood hazard analysis shows that most of the watershed area falls into the low to moderate hazard classes; however, areas categorized as high hazard are concentrated in lowland regions and river corridors with dense settlements. These critical zones have limited water absorption capacity and are highly susceptible to flooding and inundation during periods of high rainfall. Therefore, spatial monitoring of land use change and flood hazard distribution is essential as part of an integrated flood mitigation strategy to support sustainable watershed management and spatial planning in Padang City.
