Research activities have been studied extensively to improve the quality of learning, especially in higher education. This research aims to explore the mastery of the term of research ( TR or IR ) and research skills (RS or KR) of toward of grade point average (GPA or IPK). This research uses a quantitative approach to the object of students in natural science education program a number of 67 people who follow biotechnology courses academic year 2017/2018. Data collection with tests and aggregation of documentation. Data analysis technique is done by quantitative descriptive analysis. The decision indicates that the exact number of IR is 66.0 (easy category) and KS is 65.8 (short category). The result of correlation analysis shows ???????????????????????? = 6,147˃ 3,140 = ???????????????????????? = (0,05;2;64) or in other words there a relationship of IR and KR collectively to GPA. This study concludes that there is a significant correlation between IR and KR guards in the same period as the GPA. Based on the investigation, it is expected to provide benefits as one of the considerations for the selection and determination of learning mods related to learning. It is expected to be useful as a consideration for the selection and determination of study-related modes for improvement.

Information Literacy (IL) and Science Process Skills (SPS) have been widely examined to enhance the quality of learning, especially in higher education, in which information technology has become the basis of human life. This research aims to explore the relationship between IL and SPS to the grade point average (GPA) of pre-service science student. Determination of samples using a typical case sampling is 278 students from 329 active students in the program at S1-Science Education, Surabaya State University (UNESA). This research uses quantitative approaches. The source of data is a test result of IL and SPS towards a GPA in the odd 2017/2018 semester. The data were analyzed using the Minitab 16 program. The results of the data analysis showed that = 26,69 ˃ 3,03 = = (0,05;2;275) or in other words support data to reject with confidence level 95%. This investigation concludes that there is a significant relationship between variable information literacy and science process skills together against the grade point average. The results of the research are expected to be one of the considerations in choosing and determining the right learning of science teachers,

Motivation in learning will influence the student to be a success. Four aspects that became part of the motivation is the fundamental aspects of attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction. The purpose of this research is to know the extent to which students ' motivation of elementary school teacher education on the basic concept of subject science. The method used is descriptive quantitative survey method; in this case, use the question form of student motivation. This research was carried out in April 2016. The subject of research is the 234 students distributed in University of Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya and the State University of Surabaya. The results showed that students ' learning motivation of elementary school teacher education in aspects of attention, relevance, and satisfaction are on the category quite nicely, while confidence is at a type less well this defines the that required increased efforts of student learning motivation on the subject the basic concept of science.

The ability to carry out Classroom Action Research (CAR) or School Action Research (SAR) can be used to support the education and learning process in schools, because it make the teachers or principals as both researcher and user of research results. CAR is the research conducted by teacher in their class to improve their services to the students, entrusted to them, in developing their potency optimally by giving them the qualified learning. SAR is the the research conducted by principles in their school to improve their service to the community that gives credence by sending their son to the school. SAR will develope the profesionality of principals, teachers and all the the school staff in educational services providing. Principals may conduct SAR by encouraging teachers in inquiry process on how to make students learn, by establishing professional learning communities, through School-Based Lesson Study. Mean while, teachers may perform CAR by involving at least a friend as collaborator, by implementing CAR-based Lesson Study. Key words: CAR, SAR, Professional Development, Teachers, Principals

Discovery Learning with Jigsaw II on Information Literacy and Cognitive Learning Outcomes of High School Students Robiatul Adawiyah; Herawati Susilo; Sri Endah Indriwati

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effect of the discovery learning model combined with Jig-saw II on the students’ information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes. The study was a quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The subjects were 134 high school students divided into one group given discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II and 3 control groups given discovery learning, Jigsaw II, or conventional learning model. The experiment showed that the discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II resulting in significant differences in students’ information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes with Fvalue = 13.935 (p < 0.05) on information literacy F value = 6.527 (p < 0.05) on cognitive learning outcomes. It can be concluded that the discovery learning model combined with Jigsaw II significantly improved students’ information literacy and cognitive learning outcomes.Key Words: discovery learning, jigsaw II, information literacy, cognitive learning outcomesAbstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran discovery learning dipadu Jigsaw II terhadap literasi informasi dan hasil belajar kognitif. Penelitian merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Subjek yang digunakan yaitu siswa SMA sebanyak 134 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai F sebesar 13,935 dan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,000<0,05 pada literasi informasi dan F sebesar 6,527 dan taraf signifikan sebesar 0,000<0,05 pada hasil belajar kognitif. Hal ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada perbedaan signifikan literasi informasi dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa yang menjalani model pembelajaran discovery learning dipadu Jigsaw II.Kata kunci: discovery learning, jigsaw II, literasi informasi, hasil belajar kognitif

Abstract: Critical thinking enables students to process information logically, creative thinking brings out imaginative ideas. Both can be empowered by applying the Think Pair Share (TPS). This research is a quasi-experimental design involving students of grade 10 and 11 SMAN 9 Malang. Aspects of critical and creative thinking skills are measured using essay tests. To show the relationship between critical and creative thinking skills and the contribution, regression analysis was carried out. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between critical and creative thinking.Abstrak: Berpikir kritis memungkinkan siswa untuk memproses informasi secara logis, sedangkan berpikir kreatif memunculkan ide yang imajinatif. Kedua berpikir kritis dan kreatif dapat diberdayakan dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Think Pair Share(TPS). Penelitian ini merupakan kuasi eksperimen pada siswa kelas 10 dan 11 SMAN 9 Malang. Aspek berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif diukur menggunakan soal tes essay. Untuk mengungkap hubungan berpikir kritis dan kreatif dan besar sumbangan, dilakukan analisis regresi. Hasil menunjukkan terdapat hubungan signifikan antara berpikir kritis dan berpikir kreatif.

ICT Based-Problem Based Learning on Students’ Cognitive Learning Outcomes Enny Kristinawati; Herawati Susilo; Abdul Gofur

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to determine the impact of Problem Based Learning through ICT on students’ cognitive achievement. This research using a quasi-experiment design with nonequivalent control group design. Data of pretest and posttest were collected and analyzed by ANACOVA. The result showed that there are differences of cognitive achievement among students in the experimental class and in a conventional class. The average score of student’s cognitive achievement in experimental class is 69.032 and in the conventional class is 62.078, which is mean that the achievement of cognitive on students that were taught by PBL through ICT is significantly higher than the students that were taught by conventional learning.Key Words: problem based learning, ICT, cognitive achievement Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran dengan model problem based learning berbasis TIK terhadap hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen semu dengan pola pretes-postes. Hasil analisis data pretes dan postes yang diuji melalui analisis anakova menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan siswa pada kelas konvensional. Rerata terkoreksi hasil belajar kognitif siswa pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 69.032 sedangkan siswa pada kelas konvensional sebesar 62.078. Hal tersebut berarti bahwa pencapaian hasil belajar kognitif siswa dengan model PBL berbasis TIK secara signifikan lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas konvensional.Kata kunci: problem based learning, TIK, hasil belajar kognitif

Abstract: Project Based Learning (PjBL) teaches many important strategies to train various life skills to face the challenges of 21st century life, one of which is creative thinking. This quasi experiment research aims to determine the effect of project-based learning on the material of growth and development in high school students by using simple hydroponic cultivation techniques on students’ creative thinking skills. The research instrument was in the form of pre test and post test questions given to the experimental class and the control class. Data analysis with independent t-test shows the results of p value < α (α = 0.05), which proves that the research hypothesis is accepted, so it can be concluded that simple hydroponic project-based learning can improve students’ creative thinking skills.Key Words: PjBL, creative thinking skills, hydroponicAbstrak: Project Based Learning (PjBL) merupakan metode pembelajaran yang mengajarkan banyak strategi penting untuk melatihkan berbagai kecakapan hidup untuk menghadapi tantangan hidup abad 21, salah satunya yaitu creative thinking. Penelitian quasi experiment ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan untuk mengatahui pengaruh pembelajaran berbasis proyek pada materi pertumbuhan dan perkembangan pada siswa SMA dengan menggunakan teknik bertanam hidroponik sederhana terhadap keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa. Instrumen penelitian berupa soal pre test dan post test yang diberikan kepada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Analisis data dengan independent t-test menunjukkan hasil p value < α (α = 0,05), yang membuktikan hipotesis penelitian diterima, sehingga disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis proyek hidroponik sederhana dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kreatif siswa.Kata kunci: PjBL, keterampilan berpikir kreatif, hidroponik

Three-tier Test to Identify Students’ Misconception of Human Reproduction System Wahid Hasyim; Hadi Suwono; Herawati Susilo

Abstract: The purpose of this research was to develop a three-tier test of the human reproductive system in identifying student misconceptions. The instrument was developed by Treagust model which has three stages of defining content; obtain information; development of diagnostic tests. A total of 100 students were subjected. All question items consist of 15 items have been classified as valid, with result of reliability analysis equal to 0.717, average test of power difference 0.45, all item problem is in range 0.35–0.67 at level of difficulty, construct validity r = 0.531, N = 100, p = 0.000. False negative content validity test is 6.47% and false positive is 9.07%. Based on the analysis result, this instrument is feasible to identify student misconception.Key Words: human reproduction system, misconception, three-tier test, studentAbstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan instrumen three-tier test sistem reproduksi manusia dalam mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi siswa. Instrumen dikembangkan dengan model Treagust yang memiliki tiga tahapan yaitu mendefinisikan konten; memperoleh informasi; pengembangan tes diagnostik. Sebanyak 100 siswa dijadikan subjek. Seluruh item soal terdiri 15 butir soal tergolong valid, dengan hasil analisis realibilitas sebesar 0.717, rerata uji daya beda 0.45, semua item soal berada pada rentangan 0.35–0.67 pada tingkat kesukaran, validitas konstruknya r = 0.531, N = 100, p = 0.000. Uji validitas konten persentase false negative sebesar 6.47% dan false positive sebesar 9.07%. Abstract: Metacognitive skill is required for improving students’ learning outcome. To enhance the metacognitive skill, it can be done through reciprocal teaching model. This study aims at examining the influence of mind map assisted reciprocal teaching toward students’ metacognitive and learning outcome. This study used semi-experimental design using non-randomized control group pretest-posttest. This study was conducted within Senior High School whose students possess a low level of metacognitive skill. The result of this study showed that mind map assisted reciprocal teaching influences the students’ metacognitive skill. In addition, there is a difference within the metacognitive skill and learning outcome between students who learn using mind map assisted reciprocal teaching and conventional learning.Key Words: reciprocal teaching, mind map, metacognitive skill, learning outcomeAbstrak: Kemampuan metakognitif sangat dibutuhkan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Pening-katan kemampuan metakognitif dapat dilakukan dengan menggunakan model pembelajaran reciprocal teaching. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meneliti pengaruh pembelajaran reciprocal teaching ber-bantuan peta pikiran terhadap kemampuan metakognitif dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian yang diguna-kan adalah eksperimen semu dengan rancangan Nonrandomized Control Group Pretest-Postest. Peneli-tian dilakukan di SMA yang memiliki kemampuan metakognitif rendah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya pengaruh pembelajaran reciprocal teaching berbantuan peta pikiran (mind map) terhadap ke-mampuan metakognitif. Ada perbedaan kemampuan metakognitif dan hasil belajar yang nyata antara siswa yang belajar menggunakan pembelajaran reciprocal teaching berbantuan peta pikiran (mind map) dibandingkan yang belajar dengan pembelajaran konvensional.
