Abstract

This research proposes a Prophetic Learning Model that integrates the religious values of the Qur'an in astrophysics learning to deepen students' scientific understanding and form religious character. The main objective of this research is to develop a model that connects scientific knowledge with spirituality and internalizes religious character values such as faith, piety, patience, gratitude, and cooperation. The method used is a qualitative literature review with an analysis of learning theory, Islamic education concepts, and relevant Qur'anic verses. The results of the study found that the Prophetic Learning Model with stages: Inviting to purify the soul by praying; Reciting verses in the form of kauliah verses with dhikr; Teaching the book in the form of kauniah verses by thinking; Teaching wisdom by thinking and dhikr; and Reflecting on learning by assessing yourself. This model improves students' scientific understanding and strengthens their religious character and social skills. Challenges in its implementation include the difficulty in connecting Qur'anic verses with scientific concepts and the readiness of lecturers and students to adopt this new approach. This model has great potential to develop a more integrative learning experience. This study recommends further trials to evaluate the effectiveness and practicality of the model in the context of higher education, particularly in physics education study programs.

Abstract

Effective chemistry learning should be designed to actively engage students in various activities that promote deep understanding of abstract concepts, skill enhancement, and positive behavior development. This study aimed to develop creative content based on a website as a learning media for molecular geometry topics. This study uses the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The study involved 32 students at the high school, 5 educators, and 3 validators. The results show that 100% of the validators stated that the content developed on the website is valid. The developed content aligns with the material concept, and the learning objectives are based on the needs and expected learning outcomes. Feasibility test results indicate that the website meets the criteria for facilities and media quality, aligning with standards for an ideal learning platform. Therefore, it can be concluded that the creative website-based content developed for molecular geometry is highly suitable and can increase students engagement in the learning process and understanding of abstract chemical concepts.

Abstract

This study represents the initial phase in the development of a digital assessment instrument targeting science process skills (SPS) contextualized within occupational health and safety (OHS) practices in university chemistry laboratories. The objective was to identify field-based needs and formulate relevant SPS indicators through a needs analysis framework. The research adopted the Analysis phase of the ADDIE model, collecting data via field observations, student pre-assessment, semi-structured interviews with laboratory personnel, and literature and regulation reviews. Results showed that although 95.7% of students considered OHS important, only 14.9% had prior training, and most struggled with basic procedures such as proper use of personal protective equipment and chemical hazard identification. Interviews confirmed the absence of valid assessment tools integrating both SPS and safety procedures. These findings underscore the urgency of developing an interactive digital assessment aligned with educational goals and national safety regulations.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a performance-based assessment instrument to assess students’ Science Process Skills (SPS) for saponification laboratory activities. This research is an instrument development study, consisting of four main stages: planning, development, validation, and pilot testing. A total of twelve 11th grade students from a high school in Bandung participated in pilot testing phase to evaluate the instrument’s reliability. This performance-based instrument covers 27 performance aspects aligned with six SPS indicators: predicting, planning, implementing, observing, communicating, and interpreting. This instrument demonstrates strong content validity, with a CVI of 0.99. Inter-rater reliability was analyzed using Kendall’s W Coefficient. The results show variable agreement results: 2 aspects showed very strong agreement, 3 aspects showed strong agreement, and 11 aspects showed weak agreement. These findings suggest the need to refine several instrument items to enhance inter-rater reliability. The practicality of the instrumen, evaluated through assessors, resulted in a score of 3.35 on a scale of 4.00, indicating the instruments is very practical for further implementation.  Overall, the final product of instrument is valid and practical for assessing students’ SPS in the saponification lab activities, though further improvements are necessary to improve inter-rater agreement.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a valid and reliable electronic portfolio assessment instrument to support learning and potentially improve students’ habits of mind on acid-base material. Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), the instrument was tested on 30 eleventh-grade students in a public high school in Cimahi City. The habits of mind focused on three indicators: self-regulation, critical thinking, and creative thinking. The instrument included various tasks relevant to the acid-base topic. Validation results showed strong content validity (CVR = 1.00) and reliability (Cronbach’s Alpha values ranging from 0.70 to 1.00). A limited trial suggested potential improvements in students’ habits of mind, with observed levels of self-regulation categorized as medium to high, and critical and creative thinking ranging from low to high. However, these findings are preliminary, and further research using a more robust experimental design is needed to confirm the instrument’s effectiveness

Abstract

This study aims to produce a valid and reliable PISA-based chemistry test instrument on the acid–base concept to measure Madrasah Aliyah students’ scientific literacy. The test instrument was developed using the ADDIE model (analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate). A total of 25 multiple-choice questions were tested on 60 Grade XII students majoring in natural sciences at Madrasah Aliyah in Subang. From the Rasch analysis, a Cronbach's alpha value of 0.71 indicates that the reliability of the test instrument is acceptable. In addition, the person reliability value of 0.67 indicates that the respondents' answers were quite consistent, and the item reliability value of 0.83 indicates that the reliability of the questions was good. All questions were declared valid because they met the outfit MNSQ, outfit ZSTD, and Pt-Measure Correlation criteria. The level of difficulty of the items was distributed into five very easy items, seven easy items, nine difficult items, and four very difficult items. The discriminating power of the items was classified into 24 items in the good category and one item in the sufficient category. In addition, 21 items had well-functioning distractors, while four items had distractors that did not function well.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a valid and reliable STEM-based electronic assessment portfolio instrument to instill creative thinking skills in high school students on the topic of Green Chemistry. This study uses a Design Development Research (DDR) approach with the ADDIE model, which is specifically limited to the development phase. This study involved 16 grade 10 science students. The Assessment Portfolio was designed with three tasks: a summary of the Green Chemistry topic, a poster about the 12 principles of Green Chemistry, and an educational vlog about the principle of "Prevention". The findings indicate that the developed instrument has valid content validity, as assessed by five validators. This instrument was also proven reliable through an inter-rater reliability test conducted by four raters. Furthermore, Wilcoxon test analysis indicates that feedback provided during the electronic portfolio assessment process is effective in significantly improving students' creative thinking skills, with the revision process being the main driver of this improvement. In conclusion, the resulting instrument is effective and can serve as a valid alternative assessment tool.
