Abstract

The evolving complexities of higher education institutions demand innovative governance strategies that integrate strategic management into academic administration. This study explores the conceptual and operational dynamics of such integration and its impact on institutional performance. Employing a qualitative multi-case design across selected Indonesian universities, the research analyzes leadership agency, strategic alignment mechanisms, and digital enablement within academic operations. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and focus group discussions, and analyzed using thematic content analysis and grounded theory principles. Findings reveal that strategic integration fosters institutional coherence, enhances responsiveness to change, and improves key performance indicators such as accreditation outcomes, research productivity, and stakeholder satisfaction. Leadership plays a central role in mediating strategic intent and administrative execution, while digital tools support transparency and real-time decision-making. Despite structural and cultural barriers—including siloed governance and limited strategic literacy—institutions that adopt participatory and adaptive approaches demonstrate greater strategic maturity. This study contributes to the literature by offering a multi-level framework for embedding strategic management within academic workflows. The model emphasizes the importance of transformational leadership, collaborative planning, and digital infrastructure in achieving strategic coherence. Implications for practice include the need for strategic capacity-building, integrated planning systems, and policy support for institutional alignment. Recommendations for future research include comparative studies across diverse national contexts and longitudinal assessments of strategy-performance linkages.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the strategic decision-making practices of higher education leaders in Indonesia during the implementation of national policy directives. Drawing on in-depth, semi-structured interviews and document analysis, the research employs a thematic analysis approach to investigate how rectors, deans, and senior academic administrators interpret, negotiate, and enact educational reforms. The findings reveal three interrelated leadership dynamics: strategic mediation, symbolic and practical alignment, and distributed decision spaces. Through a dialectical engagement with strategic leadership and institutional theory, the study develops an integrative conceptual model that reconceptualizes policy implementation as an iterative and context-sensitive process. This model contributes theoretical novelty by synthesizing competing paradigms and offers practical insights for advancing reflexive, policy-literate leadership in complex governance environments.

Abstract

The digital transformation of higher education has accelerated the adoption of big data and integrated information systems, reshaping institutional governance, academic performance monitoring, and strategic decision-making. Despite the proliferation of digital platforms, many institutions continue to operate within fragmented data environments, limiting their capacity for organizational productivity and efficiency. This study explores how the integration of big data and information systems contributes to institutional performance enhancement in higher education. Employing a qualitative descriptive methodology, data were collected through semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and direct observations across selected Indonesian universities. The findings reveal that successful integration models—characterized by strategic alignment, leadership commitment, and cross-functional collaboration—lead to improved decision-making, resource optimization, and streamlined workflows. Conversely, challenges such as data silos, resistance to change, and technical limitations hinder implementation. The study also reflects on the integration through the lens of Resource-Based View (RBV) and Socio-Technical Systems Theory, emphasizing the need for holistic and adaptive approaches. Recommendations include the development of strategic roadmaps, robust data governance, and inclusive capacity-building initiatives. This research contributes to the global discourse on digital transformation in higher education, offering practical insights for institutional leaders and policymakers seeking to enhance organizational resilience and responsiveness through data-driven innovation.

Abstract

The rapid integration of generative artificial intelligence (AI) into educational environments has reshaped the way learners access and engage with knowledge. While AI offers unprecedented efficiency and convenience, it has simultaneously created conditions that foster passive learning behaviors, particularly copy-pasting without cognitive involvement. This phenomenon contributes to a degradation of higher-order thinking, popularly termed “brain rot.” This article introduces the concept of Zero Order Thinking State (ZOTS) as a new pre-cognitive category—designated as C0—that precedes the lowest level of Bloom’s Taxonomy. ZOTS represents a non-cognitive state in which learners exhibit no mental activation, processing, or interpretation of information. Through a reflective qualitative approach grounded in conceptual analysis, this study synthesizes contemporary literature on AI-assisted learning, cognitive psychology, and digital distraction to formalize the C0–C6 pedagogical matrix. Findings indicate that ZOTS is not merely a lower level of cognition but a null cognitive condition that requires urgent pedagogical and policy intervention. The expanded taxonomy proposed in this study offers educators a strategic framework to diagnose and mitigate ZOTS while promoting more ethical, reflective, and epistemically aware uses of AI. The article contributes both theoretical insights and practical strategies essential for designing learning environments that preserve human cognition in an era of technological acceleration.

Abstract

Tujuan utama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai dampak dari dukungan organisasi yang dirasakan terhadap kinerja dosen perguruan tinggi swasta di Tangerang, dengan keterlibatan dosen sebagai mediator. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode simple random sampling dalam komunitas dosen perguruan tinggi swasta di Tangerang, yang menghasilkan 231 respon kuesioner yang valid. Analisis data menggunakan pendekatan Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) dengan perangkat lunak SmartPLS 3.0. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara dukungan organisasi yang dirasakan dan kinerja dosen, baik secara langsung maupun tidak langsung melalui mediasi keterlibatan dosen. Penelitian ini memperkenalkan model baru yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kinerja dosen di institusi pendidikan tinggi swasta di Tangerang dengan meningkatkan dukungan organisasi yang dirasakan, dengan keterlibatan dosen yang berfungsi sebagai mediator penting. Implikasi dari penelitian ini dapat berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kesiapan dosen dalam menghadapi tantangan Pendidikan 4.0.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of team characteristics (such as team efficacy) and environmental factors (such as emotional intelligence climate) on engineering team performance based on social cognitive theory (SCT). Data were collected through 157 questionnaires from engineering employees of a manufacturing company in Indonesia using random sampling method. Data analysis was conducted using SEM method with SmartPLS 3.0 software. The proposed model shows that work team planning acts as a mediator between team efficacy, emotional intelligence climate, and team performance. The findings provide an in-depth understanding of the factors that influence team performance in the context of the manufacturing industry. The results suggest that work team planning plays an important role in improving team performance through the effects of team efficacy and emotional intelligence climate. The practical implication of this research is the importance of company management to pay attention to both antecedent factors of team performance, both in terms of personal (efficacy) and environmental (emotional intelligence climate) in an effort to improve engineering team performance in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

Ungkapan "ikuti passion Anda" menghasilkan pendapat yang berbeda. Ada yang mengatakan bahwa satu-satunya cara untuk menemukan kebahagiaan dalam hidup adalah dengan mengikuti passion Anda. Namun menurut yang lain, mengikuti passion tidak cukup untuk menjadi sukses. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif atau disebut juga pendekatan deskriptif yaitu penelitian dengan metode simak catat karena sumber data yang penulis peroleh melalui menyimak ditafsirkan dan dibuat kesimpulan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui sebuah penelitian yang berjudul “Why Passion is not Enough” oleh Fellexandro Ruby dari channel Youtube TEDx Talks. Terkadang muncul berbagai pertanyaan mengenai sebenarnya apa makna dan tujuan dari hidup selama ini. Apakah itu untuk hidup selama mungkin atau untuk menggapai semua keinginan? Lalu mengapa beberapa orang tau apa yang ingin dilakukan, tetapi disisi lain beberapa orang hanya hidup dalam kebingungan? Itulah peran penting dari Ikigai, suatu konsep yang memuat alasan untuk dapat membantu dalam menemukan tujuan dan makna dari hidup selama ini. Adapun kesimpulan pada artikel ini adalah konsep Ikigai sesungguhnya cukup abstrak namun masyarakat Jepang mengartikan Ikigai secara sederhana sebagai ‘suatu alasan mengapa bangun di pagi hari’ atau ‘suatu alasan untuk hidup’.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bermaksud untuk mengetahui teori kebahagiaan dan indeks kebahagiaan dalam keadaan psikologis dan fisik manusia. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode penelitian kualitatif atau disebut juga pendekatan deskriptif yaitu penelitian difokuskan mencari sumber teori, lalu menganalisis data tersebut, ditafsirkan dan dibuat kesimpulan. Sedangkan sumber penelitiannya didapatkan dari hasil simak tutur tulisan dan pengucapan di Channel Youtube TEDx LSPR dengan judul Unhappy is a new color happy. Menurut definisi dari Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia, kebahagiaan adalah kondisi atau perasaan senang dan tenteram. Jadi dapat disimpulkan kebahagiaan bisa terjadi karena banyak faktor, dapat berbeda-beda bagi setiap individu, tergantung pada pengalaman, nilai, dan harapan masing- masing. Manfaat dari materi ini untuk masyarakat adalah dapat mengetahui kebahagiaan mereka berdasarkan indikator internal dan personal, kebahagiaan ini tidak selalu terkait dengan pencapaian eksternal tetapi juga dengan kesejahteraan emosional dan mental individu. Tujuan ini untuk memberikan wawasan yang lebih dalam tentang konsep kebahagiaan dan setiap individu dapat mencapainya melalui pendekatan personal dan introspektif.

Abstract

In the article entitled Intergenerational Dialogue to Understand Millennial Humans, it explains the importance of understanding what humans are. Understanding Humans is an individual's positive attitude that enables him to develop a positive assessment, both of himself and of the environment or situation he is facing. The text does not explicitly mention the existence of research conducted by the author. We can see that the text is a narrative or personal reflection of the author about his life experiences as a documentary filmmaker and his observations of the dynamics of human relationships. This research was carried out using a qualitative research method or also called a descriptive approach, namely research that is devoted to finding theoretical sources, then analyzing the data, processing and making conclusions. Meanwhile, the source of the research was obtained from listening to speeches written by Arfan Sabran on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel with the title Intergenerational Dialogue & Understanding Humans as the material (TEDx Talks, 2024), and literature from several journals with descriptive analysis and finally an interesting conclusion. This text describes the journey of a documentary filmmaker who was inspired by a simple video of blooming flowers that he and his father watched on television. Initially interested in flora and fauna, the author found his true calling in observing human relationships. He shares his experiences making films that highlight big issues such as deforestation and forest fires, always directing the narrative back to the family. In his documentary works, the author tries to understand the dynamics of intergenerational relationships in the face of environmental and social change. He also described how social media and technology have influenced human interactions, emphasizing the importance of deeper and more harmonious dialogue and communication, by maintaining human connections in order to understand the complex issues faced by modern society.
