Abstract

Children with intellectual disabilities are children with below average intelligence who experience a decline in intellectual function, difficulty communicating and adaptive behavior, arising before the age of 18 years. This child has not been able to brush his teeth properly, for that audio-visual media is used as a tool that can be seen and heard in his delivery, one of which is the development of April's Mophie model to improve the toothbrushing skills of children with moderate intellectual disabilities. Produce April's Mophie model as a learning medium to improve toothbrushing skills in children with moderate intellectual impairment. Research using Research and Development (R&D) method. Quasi-experimental research design (pre-post with control group design). Purposive sampling technique with 11 children of the intervention group and 11 children of the control group, with a duration of treatment given 21 days. Data were tested using Interclass Correlation Coefficient, Paired T-Test, Wilcoxon Test, and Mann-Withney. April's Mophie model showed a p-value of 0.000 which means that this model is feasible as an effort to improve toothbrushing skills in children with moderate intellectual impairment. The implementation of this model effectively increased the action of brushing children's teeth (p = 0.041), as well as a decrease in children's debris index (p = 0.037) compared to the control group. April's Mophie model effectively improves toothbrushing skills in moderately impaired children.

Abstract

Physiological processes that occur during pregnancy can cause hormonal changes and affect the oral cavity. Oral problems during pregnancy, such as periodontal disease, gingivitis, tooth erosion, halitosis, and epulis of pregnancy not only impact the mother but can also cause adverse pregnancy outcomes such as premature birth, low birth weight, preeclampsia to premature rupture of membranes. Many pregnant women do not care about the possible adverse effects of dental and oral diseases on pregnancy. This shows that the majority of pregnant women only focus on pregnancy and do not reduce dental and oral health. The occurrence of dental and oral diseases during pregnancy is not only influenced by the pregnancy itself but also the lack of knowledge about maintaining oral health it affects poor behavior in maintaining dental and oral health. The aim of this study was to find out the description of knowledge about maintaining the oral and dental health of pregnant women in Baki District. This research is a type of observational research with a cross-sectional study approach, and quantitative data, and is presented descriptively. The number of respondents in this study was 55 pregnant women in Baki District. Data collection techniques in this study used a questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability tests. Research data were analyzed using univariate analysis. The results showed that the proportion of pregnant women's level of knowledge about maintaining oral health was highest in the poor category, which was 69.1% with an average value of knowledge of pregnant women was 6.82. The conclusion of the study is that the level of knowledge regarding maintaining the oral and dental health of pregnant women in Baki District is still lacking.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a major concern in clinical health education settings due to its airborne transmission risk. This study aimed to analyze the risk of TB transmission and evaluate the implementation of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) by students during preventive dentistry procedures in the JKG Care Service Laboratory at Poltekkes Semarang. Using a descriptive-analytic method with a cross-sectional survey design, data were collected from 60 students through structured questionnaires and direct observation. The results showed that 73% of students demonstrated moderate IPC behavior, and 67% of the laboratory conditions were rated as moderately compliant with standards. Bivariate analysis revealed no significant relationship between student IPC behavior and laboratory conditions (p = 0.885), but there was a significant relationship between IPC behavior and the implementation of preventive dentistry procedures (p = 0.012). These findings indicate that student compliance with IPC is more influenced by procedural application than environmental factors. Strengthening IPC training and supervision during clinical practice is crucial to minimize TB transmission risk in dental health education settings. Abstract

Individuals with diabetes mellitus are more likely to experience acute and chronic health complications including oral diseases. However, there are still many of them who do not carry out routine controls and do not record the history of examination results, resulting in a lack of monitoring of their health. Information systems in the health sector can be utilized in managing health information as an effort to monitor risk factors that allow complications of oral and dental disease. In addition, there is no information system that focuses on monitoring dental health in patients with diabetes mellitus. The development of SIP DM-DENT Monitoring is focused on monitoring general health and dental health in patients with diabetes mellitus. This study aims to produce SIP DM-DENT Monitoring for people with diabetes mellitus that is feasible in monitoring health and providing health recommendations based on the results of their health checks, especially in controlling blood sugar and dental health. This research combines descriptive and analytical types of research called R&D to develop a new product output with the stages of information gathering, design making, expert validation, product testing and product results. The data collected is primary data using interview questionnaires and Linkert questionnaires. Sampling using purposive sampling technique obtained a sample of 35 respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using ICC test and descriptive statistics. The average result of the expert validation assessment was 85.76 with a decent category. The ICC test results show a p-value of 0.00 <0.05 which means the system is feasible to use. While in the product test assessment, the average respondent agrees that the system provides information and is easy to use. Based on this research, it shows that SIP DM-DENT Monitoring is feasible and effective in monitoring the health of people with diabetes mellitus and providing health recommendations for them.

Abstract

Background: Stunting, defined as inadequate height for age, is a severe public health issue that affects millions of children worldwide, particularly in low and middle-income countries. It leads to long-term impacts on physical health, cognitive development, and economic productivity. Psychoeducation has been identified as a potential intervention to mitigate the effects of stunting by enhancing community and parental practices. Methods: This research is a pre-experimental study with a pre-post design. Measurements are conducted before and after the intervention. The population consists of all cadres in the Candiroto Community Health Center work area, and the sample size is 22 people. Statistical testing used the Wilcoxon test to determine the statistical differences before and after the psychoeducation. Results: The results indicate that there is a difference in knowledge and affective of the cadres regarding stunting issues. Conclusion: Psychoeducation is an effective intervention used as an approach for health cadres to understand and address stunting issues.

Abstract

This studi was aimed at describing the learning process of writing expository texts in class VII C SMP Ekakapti Karangmojo Gunungkidul, through the use of the TTW learning method. and describing the results of writing an exposition text for class VII C SMP Ekakapti Karangmojo Gunungkidul using the TTW learning method. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR). The technique of analyzing the data is using quantitative and qualitative techniques. Based on the results of the study, the conclusions that can be drawn are as follows. First, their exposition text writing skills have improved after using the TTW learning method. The improvement in writing exposition text skills was known from the pre-cycle, first cycle, and second cycle tests. The average score of their pre-cycle was 58.67. This result belongs to the poor category. Furthermore, for the average score in the first cycle the result was 75.63 so that it can be said to have increased and is included in the good category. Thus, there was an increase of 16.96% from the pre-cycle. In the second cycle, the average score achieved was 82.61. This result is included in the good category as well. Thus, there was an increase from the first cycle of 6.98% and 23.94% of the pre-cycle results. Second, learning to write Exposition texts through the TTW learning method has been proven to be able to change students' negative attitudes and behaviors into positive ones. These changes can make students who are less enthusiastic and less active become more alert, excited, happy, and able to enjoy learning. Students become more active in thinking (think), actively discussing (talk), and more actively writing exposition texts (write).
