Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ creative thinking skills in problem-based, ill-structured, open-ended learning through stimulus. This study used learning strategies that simultaneously develop problem-solving strategies and knowledge discipline. This learning can be achieved if educational activities are focused on authentic, contextual, and relevant tasks or problems so that students can gather the necessary information, evaluate alternative solutions, and present solutions they believe in. Moreover, the ability to generate uncommon or extraordinary ideas must be raised from the problems that exist in learning. The ability to think creatively in mathematics in education using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) approach assisted by GeoGebra is expected to be a practical approach to educating students in increasing their intellectual potential and familiarizing them to deal with non-routine problems and applying it in their daily life to become a student who can think creatively. This study used a quasi-experimental research method with a quantitative approach conducted at SMA Negeri 2 Cimalaka. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and tests. This study's approach, which was integrated with GeoGebra, can be used as an alternative to learning mathematics in schools. It can be developed with other approaches according to problems in mathematics.

Abstract

The MEAs learning model is interactive, utilising technology, simulations, and creative methods to stimulate curiosity in students. This study aims to know whether or not significant differences occur in Mathematics learning by applying the Model-Eliciting Activities (MEAs) learning model based on higher-order thinking Skills (HOTS). Besides that, it is expected to provide a perspective on the effectiveness of the learning model in improving the quality of mathematics learning based on HOTS. This study was conducted at SMPN 1 Wanayasa with a quantitative research approach. The research method was a survey method and one-way ANOVA test analysis to see the relationship between students’ learning outcomes of class VIII A, B, C, D, E, and F. The population of this study was students at SMPN 1 Wanayasa with a sample of 191 students of class VIII consisting of 31 students in class VIII A and 32 students in classes B, C, D, E, and F. The results show that students’ learning outcomes differ only between classes VIII A and VIII D and between classes VIII C and VIII D

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of using manipulative media on students' understanding of fraction operations at MIS Muslimin Ciririp. A quantitative method with an explanatory approach was employed, involving 28 students selected through simple random sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires and tests. Data analysis included the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test, linearity test, as well as correlation and regression tests using SPSS version 26. The normality test results showed that the data were normally distributed, with significance values for manipulative media and fraction operation understanding of 0.064 and 0.200, respectively. The correlation test revealed a very strong relationship, with a correlation coefficient of 0.750, indicating a significant correlation between the use of manipulative media and students' understanding. The linear regression test produced the equation Y=47.186+0.479X, with a determination coefficient (R²) of 56.2%. This indicates that 56.2% of students' understanding of fraction operations is influenced by manipulative media, while the remaining 43.8% is influenced by other factors. This study confirms that the use of manipulative media significantly enhances students' understanding of fraction operations. These findings provide valuable insights for developing effective mathematics teaching strategies in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of gender and school origin on mathematics learning outcomes. Specifically, the study will analyze whether there are significant differences in mathematical ability between male and female students, and evaluate whether learning outcomes differ between students from public and private schools. The research was conducted at three different schools: MI Muslimin Bojongranca, MI Muslimin Cipongkor 1, and SDN Pasir Banteng in West Bandung Regency, specifically in grade V. A quantitative approach with an Ex Post Facto method was applied, and the data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results indicate that school origin significantly affects students’ mathematics learning outcomes, with students from MI Muslimin Cipongkor 1 achieving higher average scores compared to those from MI Muslimin Bojongranca. Meanwhile, no significant differences were found between male and female students. The analysis was continued using non-parametric tests. This study recommends that schools enhance the quality of teaching and learning facilities to improve students’ outcomes, and future research may explore other factors influencing mathematics achievement.
