Abstract

Abstract: The right oil selection is critical in maintaining the performance of a motorcycle engine, given its role in lubrication, cooling, and reducing friction between components. This study aims to analyze the effect of semi-synthetic and full-synthetic oils on oil temperature, engine vibration, torque, and power on 4 Stroke 250 CC motorcycles to provide comprehensive information to motorcycle users about the types of oils that can optimize engine performance. The research method uses an experimental approach with a Kawasaki Ninja 250 RR Mono motorcycle as the object of study. The test was carried out at various engine revolutions (RPM) by measuring vibration using a vibration meter, temperature with a thermocouple, and torque and power through a dyno test. Data analysis uses descriptive statistics to determine significant differences between oils. The study results show that full-synthetic oil consistently provides more optimal engine performance than semi-synthetic oil. Full-synthetic produces lower vibration, maintains stable temperatures, and produces higher torque and power at each RPM. These findings indicate that full-synthetic oils can improve engine efficiency, reduce the risk of damage, and extend the life of motorcycles.Keywords: Semi-synthetic Oil, Full-synthetic Oil, Engine Vibration, Oil Temperature, Engine Performance.

Abstract

In the era of globalization, proficient technical skills are essential, especially in the field of heavy equipment engineering which requires an understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. SMKN 1 Sungai Limau faces the challenge of limited facilities in preparing students for the demands of this industry. This training program utilizes a Problem-Based Learning method for theory and Project-Based Learning for practical application. Before the training commenced, students underwent a pretest with an average score of 45, indicating a low initial understanding. Following the theoretical and hands-on practical sessions, the posttest results showed a significant improvement with an average score of 70, reflecting an increase in student comprehension and skills. This average increase of 25 points serves as concrete evidence that this training is effective in enhancing students' skills in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. However, improvements in facilities and collaboration with industry are needed to ensure the relevance and sustainability of this training.

Abstract

Teaching the importance of personalized learning in educational technology courses encourages students to understand how tailored educational approaches can enhance learning outcomes. Diagnostic learning style testing, including visual, auditory, kinesthetic (VAK), and technology usage dimensions, has been widely recognized as an effective method for addressing diverse student needs. The purpose of this paper is to design an e-learning application with diagnostic learning style testing to enhance personalization in educational technology courses. This system evaluates learning styles based on five dimensions and uses diagnostic results to recommend personalized learning strategies. The application is implemented as a web-based platform, providing both theoretical insights and practical application. By utilizing this system, educators and learners can gain actionable insights into individual learning preferences, ensuring better alignment between teaching methods and student needs. Additionally, the e-learning application can be accessed via mobile devices, allowing for flexible and adaptive learning experiences anytime and anywhere.

Abstract

Problem-based learning (PBL) is widely recognized as an innovative teaching strategy that engages students in active learning through real-world problem-solving. This meta-analysis systematically evaluates the effectiveness of PBL in enhancing students' critical thinking abilities across vocational and technical education contexts. The study analyzed 30 research articles published between 2016 and 2024 using quantitative data from experimental and control groups. Following a rigorous five-step meta-analysis methodology, research data was collected through the Harzing's Publish or Perish program from Google Scholar, coded systematically, and analyzed using effect size calculations. Results revealed a significant positive impact of PBL on critical thinking development, with an effect size of 0.8, indicating a moderate to strong effect according to established criteria. The experimental classes implementing PBL achieved substantially higher post-test scores (mean=73.93) compared to control groups (mean=65.14). These findings demonstrate that PBL significantly enhances students' critical thinking capabilities and learning outcomes through collaborative problem-solving, active knowledge construction, and practical application of concepts. The study concludes that PBL represents an effective pedagogical approach for developing the analytical and problem-solving skills essential for vocational education graduates in today's complex professional environments.

Abstract

The lack of maximum understanding of students, especially on powertrain system subjects marked by low student learning outcomes, allegedly occurs because the available teaching materials have not been able to facilitate students to be able to learn independently and thoroughly and learning is still focused on educators as the main source of teaching materials. The main reason the researcher conducted this development research. This study aims to determine and test whether the module developed is valid or not to be used as teaching material in the powertrain system course. This development research uses a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate). The subjects of this study were students of Heavy Equipment Engineering at the Sawahlunto State Community Academy. The type of data is primary data where the data is provided by expert lecturers and students. The data collection instrument is in the form of a questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is descriptive data analysis technique, namely by describing the validity of the module based on this type of Student Facilitator and Explaining Cooperative. After doing the research, it was found that the cooperative module of the Student Facilitator and Explaining type was declared valid in the material aspect with a validity value of 85% and was declared valid in the format aspect with a validity value of 83%.  Based on the findings of this study, it was concluded that the Student Facilitator And Explaining Cooperative-Based module was valid to be used as a learning medium in the Powertrain System course.

Abstract

Abstract: The digital era has transformed the learning paradigm in vocational high schools, particularly in the field of automotive engineering. Social media has now become an integral part of students' lives, which can affect their motivation and academic achievement. This study aims to analyze the impact of social media use on learning motivation and academic achievement of automotive engineering students in vocational high schools. Quantitative research with a causal-comparative design was conducted on 71 grade XI Light Vehicle Engineering students at SMKN 1 Padang. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and academic grade documentation. Data analysis used MANOVA with Hotelling's Trace test statistics to test simultaneous effects. The results showed that social media had a positive and significant effect on students' learning motivation (F = 31.004, p < 0.05), but did not significantly affect their academic achievement (F = 0.610, p > 0.05). Simultaneously, social media use did not show a significant effect on the combination of learning motivation and academic achievement (Hotelling's Trace = 8.880; F = 1.421; p = 0.223). While social media can increase automotive engineering students' motivation to learn, its impact on academic achievement is less than optimal. A more targeted strategy for utilizing social media and integrating it with the curriculum is needed to maximize its potential in supporting automotive engineering learning.Keywords: Social Media, Learning Motivation, Academic Achievement, Automotive Engineering, Vocational Education.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan aplikasi game matematika interaktif berbasis Android, GEMATI, yang dirancang khusus untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung siswa slow learner. Aplikasi ini memberikan solusi inovatif untuk mengatasi tantangan pembelajaran matematika dasar bagi siswa dengan kesulitan belajar, khususnya dalam pengenalan angka, deret angka, penjumlahan, dan pengurangan. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan game-based learning, aplikasi GEMATI menyajikan fitur-fitur yang dirancang untuk mendukung personalisasi pembelajaran, visualisasi konsep-konsep matematika yang abstrak, serta umpan balik real-time untuk meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam proses belajar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah model Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC), yang terdiri dari enam tahapan: konsep, desain, pengumpulan materi, pembuatan, pengujian, dan distribusi. Hasil uji coba aplikasi menunjukkan bahwa aplikasi GEMATI sangat layak digunakan dengan validitas 92% dari ahli media dan 82% dari ahli materi. Kepraktisan aplikasi juga mendapatkan skor 81,2%, sementara hasil pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam kemampuan matematika siswa, dengan rata-rata pre-test 52,5 dan skor post-test menjadi 91,7. GEMATI terbukti efektif dan praktis dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berhitung siswa slow learner, serta dapat dijadikan alternatif media pembelajaran yang inovatif dan menyenangkan

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran inovatif berbasis teknologi, yakni TESA (Teks ke Suara), yang dirancang secara khusus untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca struktur family tree dalam Bahasa Inggris pada siswa slow learners atau siswa dengan kebutuhan belajar khusus. Media ini memanfaatkan teknologi konversi teks ke suara untuk membantu pemahaman informasi visual dan verbal secara simultan. Proses pengembangan mengacu pada model ADDIE yang terdiri atas lima tahap sistematis: Analysis (analisis kebutuhan dan karakteristik siswa), Design (perancangan media dan konten pembelajaran), Development (pengembangan produk TESA), Implementation (penerapan di kelas), serta Evaluation (penilaian efektivitas dan kualitas media). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media TESA memiliki tingkat validitas yang sangat tinggi baik dari segi isi materi, visualisasi, maupun tampilan antarmuka. Dari aspek kepraktisan, guru dan siswa memberikan penilaian sangat positif, menunjukkan bahwa media ini mudah digunakan, menarik, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan belajar siswa. Pengujian efektivitas menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada hasil tes membaca siswa setelah menggunakan media TESA, yang mengindikasikan bahwa media ini mampu memberikan dampak positif terhadap pemahaman siswa terhadap pengucapan atau pelafalan terkait family tree dalam Bahasa Inggris. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media TESA merupakan solusi pembelajaran yang efektif, layak digunakan, dan memiliki potensi sebagai media pembelajaran yang inklusif, adaptif, serta mampu mendukung peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris bagi siswa dengan hambatan belajar (slow learners).

Abstract

Penggunaan media Game-Based Learning dalam proses pendidikan telah muncul sebagai inovasi yang mampu mengatasi permasalahan yang ditimbulkan oleh era digital. Media ini berfungsi sebagai alat pedagogis sekaligus katalisator untuk meningkatkan motivasi, keterlibatan, dan prestasi akademik siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas media pembelajaran berbasis permainan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman dan kinerja siswa, terutama dalam disiplin ilmu yang membutuhkan kemampuan logis dan teknis. Sebuah studi literatur dan analisis data sekunder dari beberapa penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa permainan edukatif memberikan banyak manfaat dibandingkan dengan teknik pembelajaran tradisional. Permainan dapat menyediakan konten edukatif secara dinamis dan menarik, sehingga mendorong partisipasi aktif siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Lebih lanjut, permainan mendorong pembelajaran berbasis masalah dan meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang menggunakan media berbasis permainan menunjukkan peningkatan hasil belajar yang substansial dibandingkan dengan mereka yang menggunakan pendekatan konvensional. Permainan edukatif telah menunjukkan efektivitas dalam membantu pemahaman siswa terhadap mata pelajaran yang menantang melalui simulasi dan representasi interaktif. Hasil ini menggarisbawahi pentingnya inovasi dalam pendidikan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran di era kontemporer.

Abstract

Inquiry-based learning is an approach that emphasizes students’ active involvement in the learning process through inquiry and exploration. In Vocational High Schools (SMK), there is an urgent need to improve students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical skills to harmonize with the demands of the world of work. However, the effectiveness of the implementation of inquiry learning in vocational schools is still diverse and requires a comprehensive study. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of inquiry learning in vocational schools through a meta-analysis approach to the results of previous research. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar with the keywords “inquiry learning,” “inquiry learning,” “vocational schools,” and “learning outcomes” in the 2019-2024 publications. Inclusion criteria include experimental research with control groups, vocational school student subjects, and complete post-test data. The selection process resulted in 30 studies that met the criteria. The extracted data included the mean and standard deviation post-test of both groups. The analysis uses Cohen’s effect size formula to calculate the impact of inquiry learning. The results showed an effect size of 1.0, which indicated a significant influence of inquiry learning on the learning achievement of vocational school students, especially in understanding concepts and practical skills. However, implementation challenges include limited time, resources, and teacher readiness. It is concluded that inquiry learning is efficacious in improving the learning outcomes of vocational students but requires an implementation strategy that considers contextual factors.
