Abstract

Poeciliidae family consists of small live-bearer fishes with sexual dimorphic. This fishes are widely distributed across Indonesian archipelago, but biological studies on this fish are very limited. This research is aimed to identify the species of Peciliidae fishes which lives in Sari Lake Pasuruan based on gonopodium structures and morphometric analysis. A specific characteristic of the Poeciliidae family is its gonopodium structures which is a modification of 3rd, 4th, and 5th rays of the males anal fin. Each species represented 50 samples male and female from each type we found and measured 26 characters (in mm). Cladogram based on morphometric measurements showed that sample 1 and 2 had 100% similarity, sample 3 had 94% similarity with sample 1 and 2. Sample 4 had 54% similarity with sample 1, 2, and 3. Based on gonopodium structures sample 1 and sample 2 included Xiphophorus hellerii Heckel possess large claw on the terminus of ray 5 hook is small crescent-moon shaped on 3rd ray and lacking of gonopodium palp, sample 3 possesses distal platform with 11 retrosse serrae, and membranous hook so we were able to identify the sample 3 as Poecilia mexicana Steindachner, whilst sample 4 was Poecilia reticulata Peter had a long-pointed comb-like spines on ray 3rd and and has a small hook on the tip of 5p ray.

Abstract

Abstract

Tempe chips is one snack that is popular with all groups. During this time the process of slicing tempe chips is still using the conventional method using a hand knife. This resulted in the ineffectiveness of the process of slicing the tempe stem which is the basic ingredient of tempe chips with a relatively long duration of ± 30 slices/minute. Besides that, ± 10% -15% slices have varied thicknesses and are relatively thick (3mm), which causes crispy tempe chips. Due to constraints in the process of cutting tempeh, SMEs can only produce 10kg / day and cannot meet market needs that reach twice the current SME production. In addition, because the cutting process is done manually, it requires a large amount of power, a long time, not hygienic and prone to work accidents. To overcome the problems of partners, the partner SMEs will be assisted through the design of tempe chip slicing machines. The method of carrying out this activity is designing, manufacturing, assembly, testing of machines, handover of machines, training in operation and maintenance of machines, and periodic monitoring. Based on the results of implementation in the SME tempe chips manufacturer, the tempe chip slicing machine really helped solve the problem of the tempe chips SME producer. This can be seen from the practicality of the slicing process which requires a relatively fast time of 60 slices / minute so that employees are not easily exhausted. It also improves the quality of tempe chips, where uniform thickness of tempe chips is 2mm and is more hygienic because the machine material is made of foodgrade stainless steel standards. Some of these advantages have an impact on production capacity that has doubled from 10kg / day to 20 kg / day.

Abstract

Development of learning sets is one of the ways to achieve the goal of education. Learning sets of biology have provide real problem. Student who actively being trained to find real problem solutions are supposed to be able to develop critical thinking skills. Some learning models are able to orient students to meet contextual problem, such as PBL model. The use of PBL model should be integrated in development of learning sets. Development procedures adapted from 4D proposed by Thiagarajan, but this research was only done until the phase of develop. The design step is to determine learning model which relevant to make problem solutions. The result of design step were prototype of the instructional intruments, includes syllabi, lesson plans, student worksheets, media, and assessment which relevant to PBL characteristics and step. In develop step, the prototype of the instrument will be tested by validators (learning sets expert, materials, teacher biology, and media expert) by giving some suggestions and do scoring. Trial test had did at 8th graders in SMPN 4 Malang, a number of 27 students asked to review LKS and media as well as piloting a matter of critical thinking test. Test also did on 7th grade students, consisted of 40 students to do learning activities. The test have not been able to determine the effectiveness of PBM model for improving critical thinking skills, because it was not a quantitative test. Validation result on syllabi, lesson plans, and students worksheets gained very good qualification (above 88%). Critical thinking assessment result showed very good qualification (above 84,5%). Media result showed very good qualification (89,4%). Student worksheet and media according to 8th grade students showed very good qualification (above 84%). The test of critical thinking to 8th grade students showed reliable result and can be used for advance development step. Development test towards 7th grade students haven’t showed integrated of PBM models in learning activities. Keywords:      instructional equipment, PBM model, critical thinking
