Abstract

Sebedang Lake is one of the mainstay natural tourist attractions of West Kalimantan Province, located between Sempalai Sebedang Village and Sepuk Tanjung Village, Sebawi District, Sambas Regency. When the Covid-19 pandemic caused world tourism activity to decline, Lake Sebedang continued operating with high tourist numbers. This research analyzed the quadruple helix collaboration on the development of Lake Sebedang ecotourism during the Covid-19 pandemic from a political ecotourism perspective. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative, with data sourced from interviews and literature studies. The research results found that the success of Lake Sebedang in maintaining optimal tourism activities during the Covid-19 pandemic could not be separated from the quadruple helix collaboration, namely government, academicians, business, and community. Through this collaboration, a Covid-19 volunteer post and guard team are available, health protocols are implemented by checking temperatures, as well as providing hand washing equipment at the entrance to Sebedang Lake, and visitors are required to wear masks, including at cafes in the Sebedang Lake area by the Circular Letter of the Indonesian Minister of Trade Number 12 of 2020 concerning Restoration of Activities Carried Out During the Covid-19 and New Normal Period.

Abstract

Fishermen are the main livelihood for coastal communities in West Sulawesi. In fishing activities, especially at night, fishermen use lights to attract fish for a greater chance of catching fish. However, fishermen need a supply of electricity to turn on their lights when at sea. Fishermen usually use batteries. This is a significant problem for fishermen because batteries require a relatively high operational level. Researchers found the idea by developing a battery replacement tool to reduce high operating costs. This study aims to utilize seawater as an alternative energy source to overcome the problem of high operational costs for fishermen. The tool developed in this study uses two electrodes (Zn and Cu) placed vertically in a container and then filled with seawater. The two electrodes are connected in series, producing a high output voltage to light an LED. After the initial measurement, the resulting output voltage is 5V and can turn on the LED with a bright enough light. In periodic measurements for 96 hours with data collection every 4 hours, the voltage, current, and power do not decrease significantly, so the seawater lamp is suitable for coastal communities and fishermen's use as lighting when going to sea at night. Series and parallel combinations must be developed to achieve higher voltage and power values and obtain brighter light. The results of this research can be an alternative and renewable energy source that can be widely used.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting in children, caused by chronic malnutrition from ages 0-5, negatively impacts physical and psychomotor development as well as their future. This nutritional deficiency often results from a lack of public knowledge about stunting and preventive measures. This study aims to explore community empowerment efforts to prevent stunting in Sitiris-tiris Village, Andam Dewi District, Tapanuli Tengah Regency, North Sumatra Province. The research employs a qualitative method. Data collection involves direct observation at Posyandu Beringin in Sitiris-tiris Village and interviews with 10 informants, including midwives, nutritionists, cadres, and mothers of young children. The findings reveal that community empowerment through two main programs—educational outreach and DASHAT (Healthy Kitchen to Overcome Stunting)—successfully reduced the stunting rate in the village. The educational outreach program increased parents' knowledge about stunting, while DASHAT focused on improving healthy eating patterns as a preventive measure against stunting. The reduction in stunting rates reflects the success of the community empowerment efforts in the village.
