Abstract

West Nusa Tenggara is a region prone to natural disasters, requiring strategies to strengthen food security as part of efforts to build community resilience. One potential alternative is mushroom cultivation based on simple technology. This community service activity aims to introduce and implement a technologically advanced mushroom cultivation model to support food security and disaster resilience in Sembalun Bumbung Village, East Lombok. The method used was participatory training with a learning-by-doing approach, involving the local community in all stages of mushroom cultivation, from media preparation and sensor-based environmental control to harvesting and post-harvest. The results of the activity showed that most participants initially lacked knowledge of mushroom cultivation, but after the training, there was an increase in interest and understanding of the economic and consumption benefits of mushroom cultivation. The implementation of mushroom houses with technology to monitor temperature, humidity, lighting, and biogas utilization was deemed effective and easily adopted by the community. Technologically advanced mushroom cultivation has the potential to become an adaptive and sustainable local food source, thus supporting food security and community resilience in the face of natural disasters.

Abstract

This study aims to measure the effectiveness of science learning devices with causalitic model integrated character values and local wisdom to improve students' Problem-Solving Ability (PSA). The study used a mixed method as a modify of the explanatory design and statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon t-test. The analysis results show that the implementation of devices is significantly effective in developing the PSA of students of Public Junior High School (JHS) 3 Labuapi, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province. The device developed has been proven to have the exact alignment for all learners when developing the PSA. The developed PSA includes six indicators, namely understanding (IPSA-1), selecting (IPSA-2), differentiating (IPSA-3), determining (IPSA-4), applying (IPSA-5), and identifying (IPSA-6). Statistical analysis was also performed on the difference in the final achievement of each indicator of PSA of the students of High-Group (Hi-group) and Low-Group (Lo-group) for each indicator of PSA (IPSA). The results show that the finals of IPSA-1 up to IPSA-4 have no difference for either Group, but for IPSA-5 and IPSA-6, there are significant differences. The average final PSA scores of the Hi-Group in the two indicators, respectively 77 and 75, are higher than those of the Lo-Group, 56 and 52.

Abstract

This study aims to review the literature on the development of Clinical Reasoning Skills (CRS) in pharmacy students, with a focus on educational approaches that enhance essential competencies in effective patient care. Using the PRISMA methodology, a systematic search was conducted in the SCOPUS database, yielding 3,794 documents. Screening based on relevance, publication date, and language narrowed the number to 1,140 documents, which were further screened for eligibility, yielding 34 documents, of which 12 met inclusion criteria for in-depth analysis. The results showed that structured and multifaceted pedagogical methods, such as cognitive apprenticeship, team-based learning, and experiential learning in real-world settings, were effective in enhancing CRS in pharmacy students. These approaches strengthen critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills, which are essential in dealing with the complexity of patient care scenarios. In addition, the use of innovative assessment tools, such as script concordance tests, allows for reliable measurement of reasoning skills and provides targeted feedback, thereby enhancing student readiness for clinical practice. The review concludes that the integration of these learning methods into the pharmacy curriculum contributes to the development of student competencies and prepares graduates for interdisciplinary collaboration. Future research is needed to explore the long-term effectiveness of this educational strategy across contexts and examine the use of technology, such as virtual simulation, to further optimize CRS training and ensure pharmacy graduates are prepared to meet evolving health care challenges.
