Abstract

The teaching of Qur’anic literacy at the elementary education level, particularly in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), serves not only as a foundational pillar of Islamic education but also as a crucial instrument for shaping students’ spiritual, moral, and intellectual development. This study investigates the implementation of the Qiroati method at MI Sultan Fatah Demak, a prominent Islamic institution in Central Java, Indonesia. The Qiroati method emphasizes direct, fluent Qur’anic reading without spelling each letter, and it strictly adheres to the rules of makhraj (pronunciation) and tajwid (recitation). Employing a qualitative research design, data were gathered through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and school leaders, and document analysis. The method of triangulation was used to ensure data validity. The research reveals that the Qiroati method is implemented through a structured pedagogical model consisting of three phases: habituation (daily group reading of short surahs and prayers), classical instruction (collective guided reading with visual aids), and individual reading sessions (student-led recitation assessed by teachers). These stages reflect a blend of educational theories—behaviorism, constructivism, and audiolingual approaches—which enhance both linguistic and affective aspects of learning. The findings demonstrate that the Qiroati method has significantly improved students’ proficiency in reading the Qur’an, not only in technical fluency but also in fostering religious discipline and ethical character. Supporting factors include qualified instructors certified through syahadah training, school policy alignment, structured class systems, and active parental involvement. However, the research also identifies challenges such as students’ lack of motivation, limited family support at home, and tardiness that disrupts learning routines. To address these, the school implements personalized mentoring, strengthens school-family collaboration, and utilizes engaging teaching media. This study contributes to the discourse on Qur’anic pedagogy by positioning the Qiroati method as a holistic model for Qur’anic literacy that integrates educational theory with spiritual formation. It offers actionable insights for Islamic schools seeking to enrich their Qur’anic education programs through contextual, inclusive, and systematic methods

Abstract

The advancement of technology in the medical field has led to innovations in assistive devices, including wheelchairs, to enhance the mobility and independence of individuals with disabilities. This study investigates the use of electromyography (EMG) signals from hand muscles to control a wheelchair using the k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) classification method. kNN is a classification algorithm that identifies objects based on the proximity of similar objects in the feature space. The wheelchair control process begins with the development of a kNN model trained on EMG signal data collected from five respondents over 30 seconds. The data was processed using feature extraction techniques, namely Mean Absolute Value (MAV) and Root Mean Square (RMS), to identify motion characteristics corresponding to five types of movement: forward, backward, right, left, and stop. The extracted features were classified using the kNN algorithm implemented on a Raspberry Pi 3. The classification results were then used to control the wheelchair through an Arduino UNO microcontroller connected to a BTS7960 motor driver. The study achieved an average accuracy of 96% with the MAV feature and ? = 3. Furthermore, combining MAV and RMS features significantly improved classification accuracy. The highest accuracy was obtained using the combination of MAV and RMS features with ? = 3, demonstrating the effectiveness of feature selection and parameter tuning in enhancing the system's performance.

Abstract

This study investigates the viability of Kesambi oil (Schleichera oleosa) as an environmentally sustainable, bio-based cutting fluid to reduce surface roughness during the turning of Aluminium 6061. The study employs Response Surface Methodology in conjunction with a Central Composite Design to identify the optimal parameter combination between two primary variables, including the composition of Kesambi oil and the depth of cut during machining. The best configuration, comprising 19.57% Kesambi oil and a cutting depth of 0.99 mm, yielded a surface roughness of 3.61 µm, closely matching the predicted value of 3.59 µm. A Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy was conducted to indicate the presence of a thin lubricating film on the surface. This film can reduce the friction and enhance the high surface quality. Generally, the results show that Kesambi oil is effective and sustainable compared to conventional petroleum-based cutting fluids.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely applied in the medical world. One such application is a hand-driven robot based on user intention prediction. The purpose of this research is to control the grip strength of a robot based on the user’s intention by predicting the grip strength of the user using deep learning and electromyographic signals. The grip strength of the target hand is obtained from a handgrip dynamometer paired with electromyographic signals as training data. We evaluated a convolutional neural network (CNN) with two different architectures. The input to CNN was the root mean square (RMS) and mean absolute value (MAV). The grip strength of the hand dynamometer was used as a reference value for a low-level controller for the robotic hand. The experimental results show that CNN succeeded in predicting hand grip strength and controlling grip strength with a root mean square error (RMSE) of 2.35 N using the RMS feature. A comparison with a state-of-the-art regression method also shows that a CNN can better predict the grip strength.
