Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of Tahsin extracurricular programs in optimizing students’ Qur’anic reading skills. The research focuses on the processes of planning, implementation, evaluation, and the supporting and inhibiting factors influencing program effectiveness. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation involving school leaders, Tahsin instructors, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that the management of the Tahsin extracurricular program has been implemented through systematic planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. The program is conducted regularly using talaqqi, drill, and small-group learning methods, which contribute to improvements in students’ Qur’anic reading abilities, particularly in tajwid application, makharij al-huruf accuracy, and reading fluency. Program effectiveness is supported by leadership commitment, teacher competence, student motivation, and a strong religious culture within the school environment. However, limitations in teaching staff, restricted instructional time, and insufficient Qur’anic reading habits at home remain significant challenges. The study implies that effective management of Tahsin extracurricular activities plays a crucial role in enhancing students’ Qur’anic literacy and strengthening a Qur’anic culture within educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) through the internalization of religious moderation values as a strategic effort in deradicalizing students within the school environment. Religious moderation is understood as an important approach in shaping religious attitudes that are tolerant, inclusive, and balanced amid the challenges of globalization and the development of information technology. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a library research design, drawing from relevant books, scholarly journals, and educational policy documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis to identify, examine, and interpret the concept of religious moderation in the context of Islamic education. The findings indicate that the internalization of religious moderation values in PAI learning can be implemented through curriculum integration, exemplary behavior of educators, habituation of tolerant attitudes in schools, and strengthening contextual religious literacy. These strategies contribute to forming students with moderate, critical thinking, and resilience against radical ideologies. Thus, the transformation of Islamic Religious Education based on religious moderation plays a strategic role in creating a peaceful, inclusive educational environment and strengthening national character.

Abstract

This study aims to critically examine the concept of love and teacher–student relationship patterns from the perspective of Kahlil Gibran and analyze their relevance within Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study is motivated by the growing need to develop pedagogical relationships that extend beyond knowledge transmission to encompass character formation, human values, and students’ spiritual development. Methods: This research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method. Data were collected from Kahlil Gibran’s major works and supported by contemporary literature on Islamic education. The analysis was conducted through a methodological critique approach, focusing on epistemological and pedagogical dimensions. Results: The findings reveal that Gibran’s concept of love emphasizes freedom, autonomy, respect for individual potential, and spiritual growth. This concept gives rise to a dialogical, humanistic, and non-authoritarian teacher–student relationship, fostering a more participatory learning environment. However, from the perspective of Islamic Religious Education, this concept requires reconstruction because it tends to reflect a humanistic-individualistic orientation without a sufficiently strong theological foundation. Furthermore, the proposed teacher–student relationship pattern may weaken the educator’s role as a moral and spiritual guide if implemented without a clear Islamic value framework. Novelty: This study offers a methodological critique that integrates literary-philosophical thought with the epistemology of Islamic education and proposes a love-based pedagogical model grounded in tauhid (Islamic monotheism). This model combines humanistic, dialogical, and spiritual values as the foundation for developing teacher–student relationships in Islamic Religious Education.

Abstract

Abstract

Islamic education programs operate within complex educational environments that demand both measurable accountability and the preservation of Islamic moral spiritual values, creating distinctive challenges for program evaluation. This study aims to critically synthesize and conceptualize scholarly perspectives on the evaluation of Islamic education programs by examining their underlying principles, dominant frameworks, and implementation practices. Employing a conceptual and narrative literature review design, relevant studies published between 2018 and 2025 in internationally indexed and nationally accredited journals were purposively selected and thematically analyzed to identify convergent and divergent patterns. The findings reveal that evaluation practices in Islamic education remain largely dominated by outcome-based and accountability-driven models, often driven by external quality assurance and accreditation requirements, which inadequately represent holistic educational aims such as ethical formation and spiritual development. At the same time, the literature consistently emphasizes value-based evaluation principles grounded in Islamic educational philosophy, including holistic human development, moral accountability, and maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, yet these principles are rarely operationalized within coherent evaluative frameworks.

Abstract

Islamic education institutions are increasingly required to demonstrate graduate quality that reflects both strong religious values and competitive competencies in contemporary social and labor contexts. This study aims to critically evaluate the scholarly literature on Islamic education management and its contribution to graduate quality improvement. Adopting a narrative and evaluative literature review approach, this article synthesizes theoretical and empirical studies published between 2019 and 2025 in internationally indexed journals and reputable national journals. The analysis reveals that effective Islamic education management particularly value-based and transformational leadership, integrated curriculum management, and outcome-oriented quality assurance plays a significant role in enhancing graduate quality. However, the findings also indicate persistent challenges, including compliance driven evaluation practices, fragmented outcome assessment, and limited empirical linkage between management interventions and graduate centered indicators. The discussion highlights the need for more integrative evaluative frameworks that connect managerial effectiveness with holistic graduate outcomes encompassing intellectual competence, ethical formation, and employability. This study contributes by offering evaluative insights that clarify conceptual fragmentation in the literature and identify priority areas for future research.
