Abstract

This study aims to look at the trend of Light Rail Transit (LRT) mass transportation during the covid-19 pandemic as a lesson for multimodal transportation courses. The type of qualitative research that becomes a research instrument is the researcher himself (the author) who is directly involved in the research. The determination of informants in this study uses purposive techniques where only certain people or parties will be used as research objectives as a source of information, namely Informant I: Head of the Section on the Utilization of Facilities and Infrastructure, Informant II: Officials making committees of public service agencies, Informant III: Managers of Passenger Numbers and Revenues, Informant IV: Train Travel Organizers.  The results of the study are expected to be able to measure the level of understanding of cadets in the Multiomoda Transportation course. Through the pre-test as the average basis for cadets' knowledge of the Multimodal Transportation course of 87.00, then an intervention was carried out through education and material training based on the results of a research study of light rail transit (LRT) mass transportation trends before and after the Covid-19 Pandemic and a reassessment was carried out to obtain the average post-test results and the results changed to 91.86.  Through the Paired Sample T-Test test, the significance value of the pre-test and post-test can be tested, a significance value of 0.000 is obtained, which means that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test values.  Furthermore, it can be seen the Correlation value of 0.525 which shows the strength of the relationship of the 2 variables tested, namely pre-test and post-test.

Data collection techniques were obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation, checklists, and questionnaires. The results showed that the implementation of integrated character education in elementary schools has not been encouraging. Empirical evaluative findings show that in the fifth grade the highest percentage is 36.33% and in the sixth grade, 30.33% of the 600 elementary school students in the city of Palembang studied still in the Good enough category. The presence and role of classroom teachers who are specifically entrusted with the role of the transmitter of character education or heart education are sometimes overwhelmed and the role of guidance and counseling teachers at the elementary school level is not very visible or even not involved at all, as seen in most elementary schools in Indonesia. Abstract

Language and culture cannot be separated. Cultural integration in ELT now becomes the focus of many researchers and trends in recent years. Unfortunately, so far, there has been no in-depth investigation that focused on Indonesian teachers' perceptions of local and foreign cultural presentations in high school English textbooks. To fill the gap, this study aims to investigate the teachers' perception of the benefits and weaknesses of local and foreign cultural representation (LCFR) in the ELT textbook they used. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The nine senior high school teachers representing the city, district, and province in South Sumatra, Indonesia, were purposely involved as the participant in this study. A semi-structured interview supporting documentation was conducted and analysed following the interactive model of data analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman. Based on the findings, there are three main benefits of LCFR in ELT textbooks; first, LFCR helps teachers stimulate or catch students’ attention at the beginning of the teaching process. Second, it improves students’ intercultural knowledge, be aware of a different cultures from other countries, and avoids culture shock. Next, it also increases students’ curiosity and critical thinking, making the learning process more active and meaningful. Moreover, the weaknesses are dealing with the imbalanced portion of cultural representation and inadequate information on cross-cultural understanding which cause misunderstanding and confusion for the students.

To obtain accurate data, the instruments are arranged according to indicators of pedagogical competence, namely understanding of students, design & implementation of learning, development of students and evaluation of student learning outcomes. Data analysis was carried out according to this research method, there was a qualitative and quantitative analysis with the stages of data reduction analysis, data display which was then verified so that it became a research conclusion. According to the findings of this study, at least there has been an increase in teacher competence as a result of continuous supervision. This research is unique in that it is tested continuously for several periods of supervision, not just once to determine the effect of the implementation of supervision on teacher performance and competence. The final average obtained in each supervision related to the teacher's pedagogic competence is 77.05; 77.75 and 78.8. Of course, these results can help strengthen policies that regulate the implementation of supervision in every educational institution.

Abstract

This research is triggered by the lack of students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. A digital module assists in delivering engaging lessons. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Project-based Learning (PjBL) model based on the Digital Module to improve students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. This research applied the research and development (RD) model proposed by Borg and Gall (1982). The method was modified into three research and development steps, including (1) preliminary study, (2) development, and (3) evaluation. The research was conducted at Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang. The research subjects were 47 students of the Aviation Rescue and Firefighting Department. The data collection method used a questionnaire and test. Based on the data analysis, most students strongly agreed to use the digital module to improve students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. The use of the PjBL model based on the digital module affects significantly students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. This is demonstrated by the average scores of post-test results for the control and experimental classes are 70.57 and 80.03 respectively.
