Abstract

This study aimed to explore observation methods for evaluating early childhood learning in Kindergarten Group B at Aisyah Kindergarten Lubuklinggau. The research involved 32 students, aged five years, comprising 12 boys and 20 girls. A qualitative approach was employed, utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation. The study identified various observation methods, including anecdotal notes, running records, checklists, time sampling, and event sampling, each with distinct advantages and limitations. Anecdotal records provided detailed insights into individual student behaviors, while running records offered comprehensive observations over time. Checklists allowed for rapid assessments but lacked depth, focusing primarily on the presence or absence of specific behaviors. Time sampling concentrated on the frequency of behaviors, and event sampling added context by recording the causes and effects of behaviors, though it risked missing key behaviors due to its predetermined scope. These methods collectively serve to assess children's development and learning progress. The evaluation of early childhood education (PAUD) is critical for understanding the effectiveness of educational programs in shaping children's behavior and attitudes, as well as for guiding continuous improvement. However, challenges remain in aligning evaluation strategies with curriculum goals and selecting the most appropriate assessment tools. Despite these challenges, systematic evaluation and ongoing refinement efforts by PAUD educators are essential to optimize children's developmental outcomes and prepare them for future educational challenges.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to discover how the stages of principal’s supervision improved teacher performance at SD Negeri 245 Palembang. The qualitative technique was employed with observation, interviews, and documentation as tools. Miles and Huberman's theory was used to examine the data. The results revealed that (1) the supervision program is prepared and implemented at the start of each school year, and (2) supervision assessment is carried out at the conclusion of each semester by notifying instructors personally and in groups. This study has received little attention since it investigates supervision in depth in order to improve teacher effectiveness in primary schools. This study is designed to benefit school principals by enhancing performance connected with principal’s supervision.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of the safety management system learning method through MOOCs compared to previous learning methods. This research is a type of quantitative descriptive research. The data collection technique is a non-test technique with a research instrument in the form of a response questionnaire. The data in this study were obtained from primary data sources, namely the results of filling out questionnaires by respondents. The research was conducted at the Palembang Aviation Polytechnic in November 2022. The population in this study was 250 Palembang Polytechnic cadets. The research sample was 105 cadets who took the Safety Management System course, which was taken using a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique uses the Paired-Samples T-Test with the help of SPSS software. Results research shows that the value of sig. (2-tailed) is less than 0.05, so H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the effectiveness of the MOOC-based SMS learning method and the previous learning method.

Abstract

There has been a lot of talk about 21st-century skills for learning which are required for progressive learning in modern and effective ways. The essence of these skills includes Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity which are often referred to as the 4Cs of learning. English teacher has to focus to improve the students’ English proficiency and exploration of efficient ways of acquiring competence in the use of English for learning and the workforce in the future by implementing suitable and effective strategies in teaching.  One of them is Fishbowl.  It is a teaching strategy that helps students practice being contributors and listeners in a discussion. Students ask questions, present opinions, and share information when they sit in the “fishbowl” circle, while students on the outside of the circle listen carefully to the ideas presented and pay attention to the process, then the roles reverse. This strategy is especially useful when you want to make sure all students participate in the discussion, when you want to help students reflect on what a “good discussion” looks like, and when you need a structure for discussing controversial or difficult topics. This paper reveals an alternative strategy for the implementation of the 2013 curriculum in teaching speaking English.

Abstract

The value of character education organizes a learning system that encourages the actualization of competence and independence of elementary school students. So that the lesson has become a habit for the local community, especially for elementary school students on the banks of the river who use independent transportation to school. Independence in the development of character education occurs through a value which is a term that cannot be separated from education. This study used a qualitative method, which is a scientific research method that aims to understand a phenomenon in its natural social context by prioritizing a deep communication process between researchers and the phenomenon being studied. The research's findings suggest possible outcomes that can be put into practice to building independent character. For students to successfully develop their own character, it is important for the school, teachers, and parents to work together. The role of the teacher in character development is very important, because the figure of a teacher becomes a source of inspiration and motivation for students. The attitude and behaviour of a teacher is also very imprinted on the students, where every utterance, the personality of a teacher can be a reflection for students. Teachers are not only academic educators but also must be able to become character, moral and cultural educators for their students. The method that is often used in character development is habituation, where teachers can familiarize students to apply certain values based on agreements that have been made together with students, for example about tidiness and this is carried out continuously so that it can become a daily activity, students as well as the teacher.

Abstract

Students’ critical thinking and their ability to learn outcomes depend on the learning design and student activities. Most of the students use their free time by playing gadgets. Students learn faster with the features contained in gadgets than learning from sources in the form of textbooks. This phenomenon is the background for researchers to develop android-based chemical media which has several menus that can be explored by students in learning. Android-based chemical media was developed using the Smart Apps Creator application. This study aims to develop a digital media that is compatible with the android system. In this study the media is used to improve cognitive learning and critical thinking. In addition, it also aims to evaluate the responses of students in learning chemistry through the topic of Oxidation Reduction Reactions. The development of this media was adapted from the procedure of the interactive mobile learning development process. The collection of evaluation data models that are applied are pre-test and post-test in the test class. Based on the results of the development carried out, it can be concluded that the developed android-based chemical media has met the appropriate criteria. This media can help educators in the learning process effectively and optimally and make students interested in learning chemistry.
