Abstract

Agroforests in many tropical countries have long been acknowledged as substantially necessary to contribute to biodiversity conservation and community livelihood. The importance of agroforest biodiversification is now overlooked and replaced by a simplified structure due to the impact of agricultural commercialization. Land use changes have occurred in the Upper Citarum Watershed over time, converting traditional agroforests into monoculture plantations at the expense of their socio-ecological function. This paper aimed to analyze land use change dynamics and the effect of biodiversity loss on the socio-economy aspect of the rural agricultural landscape in the Upper Citarum Watershed. We conducted a survey of 95 respondents of community farmers in the agricultural landscape in Sukapura and Resmi Tingal Village using questionnaire guidelines and direct interviews to gather information. There was a significant decrease in plant diversity in some plot agroforests, which, in the previous study, was dominant to be reduced even to local extinctions. The results also show that the farmer poverty index according to BPS criteria is 12.63% of respondents who are below the poverty line. Our results imply that preserving mixed-garden (talun) patches in a landscape dominated by cash-crop gardens is one of the strategies that could conserve landscape biodiversity and increasingly a sustainable livelihood. Abstract

Abstract This research focuses on the speech acts of the leaders from various levels in Indonesia. To study this problem, the author uses Geoffrey Leech's politeness maxims theory which consists of the tact maxim, the generousity maxim, the approbation maxim, the modesty maxim, the agreement maxim, and the sympathy maxim. The data collection method used in this research is document study and literature study. The conclusion of this research is that most of the leaders in Indonesia have applied Leech's maxims of politeness optimally, especially the maxim of sympathy, which has led to a positive response from the people they lead. Leadership using verbal language that fulfills the maxims of politeness can be used as the basis for the next leader in managing the organization he leads, both large and small.

Abstract

Institutions are the rules of the game that can regulate the activities of Farmers Group members to support Social Forestry activities. The study aimed to analyze the structure, roles, and institutional rules of the Farmers Group of Karya Tani Mandiri and the Farmers Group of Karya Bakti in the Forest Management Unit of Batutegi, Indonesia. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observations, and literature studies. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using a Likert scale. The results showed that Farmers Group of Karya Bakti in terms of structure, roles, and complete game rules compared to Farmers Group Karya Tani Mandiri. This is because the Farmers Group of Karya Tani Mandiri at the time in the field did not have Memorandum of Association/Article of Association, Decree of the Regent, institution’s structure, the role of the structure, but the facts in the field Farmers Group of Karya Bakti violated the rules of the game in the Memorandum of Association/Article of Association, namely cutting down trees for personal gain. In forest areas, the application of the game rules to the institution's performance of the Farmers Group of Karya Tani Mandiri and the Farmers Group of Karya Bakti needs to be improved so that forest management can be sustainable by understanding and obeying the rules of the game that apply.

Abstract

Abstract

Nature school is a new concept in education that utilizes and protects nature for life as a medium for learning and character building. This study aims to evaluatively examine the curriculum in natural schools in accordance with the issuance of the independent learning program policy. This qualitative research uses a descriptive-explorative approach, and the analysis is carried out interpretively. The results of this study indicate that natural schools implement the 2013 curriculum which is integrated with the thematic curriculum which has been integrated with the religious education model in the teaching and learning process. In an evaluative process, the implications and outputs show that natural schools are better able to apply the principle of independent learning as a quality policy, whereas in public schools the principle of self-learning is reported to be still a formality and does not yet have measurable suggestions, due to the readiness of the education staff. This is what distinguishes the typical curriculum in natural schools which applies the principle of independent learning to the pattern applied in public schools. Researchers found that there was a development of program development interaction patterns in natural schools that absorbed the independent learning program, namely connecting between elements in each principle of achieving learning outcomes and their long-term impact.

Abstract

Bird habitat use is closely linked to survival, reflecting reciprocal interactions between avifauna and vegetation structure within managed landscapes. Coffee monoculture, coffee-based agroforestry, and community-managed forests represent land-use systems with varying capacities to support bird communities in the Utilization Block of the Batutegi Forest Management Unit (KPH Batutegi), Lampung, Indonesia. This study aimed to assess bird species diversity, species similarity, feeding guild composition, and the influence of vegetation and environmental variables across these habitat types. Bird surveys were conducted using the point count method, complemented by quantitative analyses of vegetation structure and environmental factors. Results indicate that the highest bird species diversity occurred in forest habitats (H′ = 2.490), while the greatest species similarity was observed between forest and coffee monoculture habitats (J = 0.464). Across all land-cover types, bird communities were dominated by insectivorous feeding guilds, accounting for 55% in coffee-based agroforestry, 44% in forest habitats, and 42% in coffee monoculture systems. Multivariate regression analyses revealed that vegetation attributes (diversity and density) and environmental variables (altitude, slope, temperature, and humidity) did not exert a significant influence on bird diversity. This pattern is attributed to pervasive anthropogenic pressures, including land-use homogenization, forest modification, and ongoing human disturbance. These findings underscore the need for systematic monitoring and improved land-management practices to mitigate anthropogenic impacts and enhance the ecological function of coffee-based landscapes and forest habitats in supporting avian biodiversity.

Abstract

Background: Children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) often experience delays in motor development and exhibit unstructured physical activity, which may hinder the acquisition of controlled motor skills. These limitations can negatively affect their overall physical health and quality of life. Although inclusive physical education has shown promise, limited research explores the impact of structured video modeling on this population. Research Objective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of an inclusive physical literacy model based on video modeling in improving motor skills and physical activity among students with ADHD. Method: An experimental design with a randomized control group pretest-posttest approach was used. The participants were 20 inclusive students diagnosed with ADHD. Motor skills were assessed using selected subtests from the test of gross motor development (TGMD), including horizontal jumping, hopping, and sprinting. Physical activity levels were measured using the physical activity questionnaire for children (PAQ-C). Finding/Results: Independent t-test analysis revealed a significant improvement in the intervention group compared to the control group. The posttest results showed significant differences in motor skills (p = 0.046) and physical activity levels (p = 0.001). Conclusion: The findings indicate that an inclusive physical literacy model incorporating video modeling can effectively enhance both motor skills and physical activity in students with ADHD. This approach supports not only physical development but also fosters better psychological and social outcomes. Future studies are encouraged to implement this model on a larger and more diverse scale.

Abstract

Railway level crossings are critical safety points prone to accidents, necessitating a reliable Early Warning System (EWS) to protect road users. This study designs and evaluates an EWS integrating Arduino Uno and inductive proximity sensors to detect train arrivals and monitor train speed at a level crossing in Blitar Regency. Field experiments were conducted with sensors installed at an optimal maximum distance of 30 mm from the train wheel flange. Over a five-day period, the sensors achieved a wheel detection success rate of approximately 99.95%, while the speed counting system showed an accuracy of 87.22% compared to GPS tracking data. The 12.78% deviation in speed measurement falls within acceptable tolerance limits according to international standards on measurement uncertainty and railway electromagnetic compatibility. Performance decreased significantly beyond the 30 mm threshold, confirming the recommended installation distance. Compared to existing systems, this approach demonstrates improved modularity and algorithmic flexibility that enable future accuracy enhancements. Routine maintenance and regular calibration are essential to sustain system stability. Future work will focus on algorithm development for enhanced train speed calculation precision and expanded testing under
