Abstract

Assessment development is an important component in 21st-century learning. Therefore, teachers are required to be able to develop 21st-century skills-based assessments or assessments for students. This service research aims to improve teacher competence in developing 21st-century skills-based assessments through the working group of school principals in West Semarang District. Participants in this community service activity are members of the working group of school principals consisting of elementary school teachers in the West Semarang District. The methods used in this service are the lecture method, experiment/practice, and task method. The impact of these service activities is in the form of increasing teacher understanding related to 21st-century skills. In addition, teachers have a broader and deeper insight into 21st-century competencies, and teacher competencies in compiling and developing 21st-century competency-based assessments can be integrated into the form of multiple-choice tests and essay tests.

Abstract

This research is motivated by (1) the results of reading literacy and science literacy in PISA, which is still low, and (2) technology and cultural-based learning media have not been developed by private high school chemistry teachers in Semarang. This research aims to develop a feasible E-module based on the local wisdom of spice drinks that can improve reading literacy and learners' science literacy. This research is a research and development with a 3-D model, which includes defining, designing, and developing. This study collects data through observation, questionnaires, and testing. The research instruments used are material expert validation sheets, multimedia expert validation, observation sheets, and instruments about reasoned multiple choice. The study subject was eight students of XI MIPA Kebon Dalem high school. Expert validation results of the material showed 92.85% (very valid). The validation results of media experts showed 85.71% (valid). E-modules are declared effective because there is an increase in the completion of learners' learning outcomes after using E-modules. E-Module based on local wisdom of spice drinks can visualize the factors that affect the rate of reaction material. So, it can be concluded that E-modules based on local wisdom spice drinks developed are worth using to improve learners' reading and science literacy.Keywords:E-module, Local wisdom, Reading literacy, Spice drinks, Science literacy

Abstract

The purpose was to analyze the transition of pre-service chemistry teachers' concept mastery about solutions in multiple representations-based learning. This research was set through pre-experimental design which is one-group pretest-posttest design. Multiple representations-based learning was applied to Basic Chemistry II course involving 31 first-year pre-service chemistry teachers. The instruments were a self-assessment sheet on the ability to connect multiple levels of representation (PD-MLP) and the concept mastery tests about solutions (TPKL). Self-assessment and concept mastery was measured based on the scores of the pre-test and post-test and analyzed through normalized gain calculations. Mastery of the concept consists of five mastery indicators. The gain of the concept mastery is at a moderate level (0.30) entirely. Mastery of concept I and IV are much lower than the mastery of other concepts. The shifting groups from TMK category (Not Mastering the Concept) to MSKK (Mastering a Small Part of the Concept) are the most group of pre-service teachers. There is a pre-service teacher who has changed the category from TMK to MK (Mastering the Concept). This pattern can be understood by reviewing the process of concept formation and memory workspace. The instructional content is able to reduce the barrier of feeling difficult. This can be seen from the results of the teachers’ self-assessment of their ability to connect the level of chemical representations leading to a positive direction. This indicates that conceptual understanding increases. The transition of pre-service chemistry teachers’ concept mastery is heading towards a better direction after experiencing multiple representations based-learning.

Abstract

Minimnya kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir kreatif saat pemecahan masalah matematika menjadi kendala pendidik dalam merealisasikan proses pembelajaran yang efektif di kelas. Adapun penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan dan menganalisis kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis oleh siswa terhadap materi pecahan yang dilakukan dengan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Selain itu, terdapat penggunaan desain penelitian mixed method bertipe sequential explanatory design yang diterapkan dalam penelitian ini. Dalam penelitian ini, menggunakan sampel 32 siswa yang berada di kelas VI SD Negeri Petompon 01 Semarang sebagai sumber data penelitian kuantitatif. Setelah pelaksanaan penelitian, diperoleh hasil sebagai berikut (1) kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa yang menggunakan gaya kognitif field independent lebih tinggi hasilnya, daripada siswa yang menggunakan gaya kognitif field dependent dalam proses pembelajarannya; (2) siswa yang gaya pembelajarannya menggunakan gaya kognitif field independent dapat mencapai TBKM 3 (kreatif) dan hasilnya dalam pembelajaran matematika siswa terlibat aktif dalam prosesnya; dan (3) gaya kognitif field dependent yang digunakan siswa dalam proses berpikir matematis mencapai TBKM 2 atau siswa kurang kreatif dan kurang terlibat aktif terhadap proses pembelajaran matematika. Gaya kognitif field independent yang digunakan siswa dalam berpikir kreatif matematis lebih tinggi hasilnya daripada siswa yang menggunakan gaya kognitif field dependent. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan melalui penerimaan hasil hipotesis rataan skor kemampuan berpikir kreatif matematis siswa bahwa siswa dengan gaya kognitif field independent lebih tinggi dari siswa dengan gaya kognitif field dependent.

Abstract

The preparation of scientific literacy tests is very important knowledge for teachers in 21st-century learning. Therefore, teachers must have knowledge about the preparation of scientific literacy tests for students. This service research aims to increase knowledge about ways to arrange a scientific literacy test through the teachers of the Bulustalan State Elementary School. Participation in training activities through this service are all teachers at the Bulustalan State Elementary School. The method used in this service research is to use the lecture, practice, and assignment methods. This service activity has a good impact, namely providing insight to teachers about literacy test instruments to face the 21st century and increasing teacher competence related to skills in preparing scientific literacy test instruments that can be integrated into the form of multiple-choice tests and essay tests.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang model bahan ajar  Kimia Analitik Dasar berbasis multimedia yang berorientasi pada penjelasan level makroskopik, mikroskopik, dan simbolik, serta implementasinya untuk meningkatan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan proses sains mahasiswa calon guru. Subyek penelitian terdiri 27 orang dan 30 orang mahasiswa masing-masing sebagai kelompok kontrol dan eksperimenProdi Pendidikan Kimia yang mengontrak  Mata Kuliah Praktikum Kimia Analitik Dasar.Desainkuasi eksperimen dengan pretes – postes control group digunakan dalam penelitian ini, dan perbedaan antara tes awal- akhir diasumsikan sebagai efek dari perlakuan. Penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan proses sainsyang diukur melalui tes bentuk uraian dianalisis berdasarkan perbandingan nilai gain yang dinormalisasi (N-gain), sedangkan kuesioner tanggapan mahasiswa secara deskriptif persentasi.Pembelajaran dasar kimia analitik menggunakan CD pembelajaran yang berorientasi pada struktur dapat meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan ketrampilan proses. Keunggulan implementasi pembelajaran disamping meningkatkan penguasaan konsep dan keterampilan proses sains, juga mahasiswa memperoleh pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan. The Purpose of study to design a model of multimedia-based teaching materials for Analytical Chemistry to explain macroscopic, mikcroscopic, dan symbolic levels, and its implementation to improve the mastery of concepts and science process skills of the students. The subjects consisted of students of Chemistry Education Study Program taking the course of Practicum on Basic Analytical Chemistry, in which 27 students were placed into a control group and 30 students were placed into an experiment was used in this study, and the difference between pretest and post test is assumed to be the effect of the treatment. The mastery of the concept and science process skills were measured by using essay tests and analysed by comparing the normalized value (N-gain), whereas the questionnaires from the students were descriptively presented. The teaching and learning activities of analytical chemistry by using CD-based learning oriented toward structure can improve the mastery of the concept and science process skills. In addition, the students also obtained fun learning experiences.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui analisis kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas V SD di Kecamatan Gunungpati Kota Semarang. Peneliti menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Subjek penelitian yang digunakan adalah siswa kelas V dan  Guru kelas V Sekolah Dasar SD Negeri Ngijo 02. Tes dan wawancara digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data pada penelitian ini. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan, diperoleh hasil nilai rata-rata kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas V adalah 54,76 dengan kriteria rendah. Masih ada kesalahan-kesalahan siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah pada indikator-indikator tertentu. Kendala yang sering dialami siswa dalam memecahkan masalah adalah kurangnya pemahaman siswa terhadap masalah yang harus dipecahkan dan kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam menuliskan informasi pada soal.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain the product, feasibility and effectiveness of Diary Book of Science media with the STEM Approach Discovery syntax to improve Students' Concept Understanding and Scientific Communication Skills. The research and development method used in this study refers to the method developed by Borg & Gall. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires and tests. Diary Book of Science with the STEM Approach Discovery syntax was validated by three validators, namely material experts, media experts and linguists’ experts, to determine the feasibility of the product itself. Students carry out further validation to find student responses and get suggestions for media development. Diary Book of Science with Discovery syntax with a STEM approach is intended to use Diary, which has a discovery learning syntax which is then combined with a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach to the material of the earth's structure and its dynamics. With the study's results showing that it can improve the ability to understand concepts and scientific communication skills, the score of material experts is 89%, media experts are 85.67%, and language experts are 78.67%. The expert validation results for the Diary Book of Science with the Discovery syntax and STEM approach, material for the structure of the earth and its dynamics as a whole, has a percentage of 84.4%. This percentage is included in the very feasible criteria. Media Diary Book of Science with the Discovery syntax with the STEM approach is effectively used to analyze conceptual understanding and scientific communication skills with an increasing percentage of students who achieve learning mastery scores as indicated by differences in pretest and posttest scores

Abstract

The success of learning in schools cannot be separated from planning appropriate learning strategies and learning tools used by teachers in the classroom. The learning device is used by the teacher as a benchmark to see how far the teacher has succeeded in teaching which can be seen when a method in the learning tool is applied. This research aims to produce science learning tools using the STEM approach to train problem solving abiliy and students activeness on global warming material that is suitable for use to support the learning process. The development procedure in this research refers to the ADDIE development model. Data collection techniques obtained by the method of observation, questionnaires, and documentation. Based on the results of the research, it shows that the learning tools developed have characteristics, including: learning tools with a STEM approach so that they refer to the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; using leaflet media as a learning medium that is used to convey information; taking the theme of global warming as the main subject; there are indicators of problem solving abilities in the learning tools developed; and there are indicators of activity in the learning tools developed. The results of the feasibility test analysis based on the percentage of validation on the presentation and material aspects, namely the syllabus obtained a percentage of 94.60%, lesson plans obtained a percentage of 94.46%, student discussion sheet obtained a percentage of 93.50%, test questions obtained a percentage of 93.34%, the observation sheet obtained a percentage of 95.42%, and the leaflet media obtained a percentage of 97.50%. Meanwhile, the leaflet media also obtained a percentage based on the results of the student response questionnaire on the validity, practicality, and effectiveness aspects of 89.56% which means that the leaflet media is very good to be used to assist the delivery of material in the learning process. Based on this, it can be concluded that science learning tools using the STEM approach to train problem solving abiliy and students activeness on global warming material are very suitable for support the learning process
